Alessandra Ambrosio Trades Glam Gowns for Cutoff Shorts for a Day at Cannes

Alessandra Ambrosio has recently been glamming it up on the 2013 Cannes Film Festival red carpet. When she got a chance to take a break from it all, she couldn’t get back into her carefree bohemian style fast enough.

For a day of strolling along the Promenade de la Croisette with friends, Alessandra slipped into a white knit sweater and white cutoff shorts with cream-colored embroidery. She styled with all-tan accessories, and an off-white linen scarf served as her layering piece, which is a must-have to achieve the boho look.

Style Spotlight: Gareth Pugh’s Flared Train Runway Trousers — Any Thoughts?

Gareth Pugh really knows how to transform a simple piece of clothing into something so outlandish and quaint, as opposed to what we’re used to seeing in the world of fashion. He’s probably one of the few avant-garde designers who could really do so much more with a simple pair of flared trousers, don’t you agree?

We found this pair of silk flared trousers by Gareth Pugh at Ssense, which takes the concept of “flare” to a whole new level. The long train detail makes this piece look like a combination of trousers and a floor-length skirt.

These trousers could either be totally rad or completely ridiculous depending on your personal style and preference. However, we do think that celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, and quite a few more eccentric and daring style icons would be open to wearing this pair. What do you think?

Just when I thought Carey Mulligan couldn’t show us any more chic style on the red carpet, she showed up at the Australian premiere of her latest movie, The Great Gatsby, wearing a refreshing outfit.

Among the long-gown-clad women at the event, my eyes zeroed in on Carey. Who knew pants could look more chic than gowns on the red carpet?

What’s really so inspiring about the actress’ ensemble is that she has worn her pair of pants many times already. She seems to have no qualms recycling an outfit, and that makes her a winner in my book. You can always trust her to create something new from the clothes she has already worn and to trick us into believing that every piece is entirely new.

Carey had worn this pair of high-waisted Lanvin pants with a tuxedo-like jacket, but for this recent event, she went for the retro look. She was like a modern-day pin-up girl in her Nina Ricci bustier top and Saint Laurent Mary Jane heels. It was a very minimalist look, especially since Carey didn’t even bother with accessories — just a sleek black leather belt and a pair of drop earrings.

I don’t know about you, but this is an ensemble I wouldn’t hesitate to copy. It is form-flattering. The cinched waist creates shape, and the bustier top shows off just enough skin to make this look tastefully interesting.

Eva Longoria was spotted stepping out of the Ken Paves hair salon with fresh-looking waves in Los Angeles, California last Wednesday. The Desperate Housewives star had just arrived home from the Cannes Film Festival, just in time to receive her Master’s degree in Chicano Studies from the California State University. The fiery Latina tweeted, “Big day today!!! Very excited to graduate for my Master’s degree in Chicano Studies!” She later on added, “You’re never too old or too busy to continue your education!”

With the blogging world still hot on her fashion trail following her “wardrobe malfunction” in Cannes, where she accidentally hiked up her dress a bit too high and exposed, well, pretty much everything, the gorgeous actress made sure to face the paparazzi all covered up this time. Eva was spotted in a pair of yellow skinny jeans with zipper details, which she paired with a casual long-sleeved white top, silver-detailed heels, and sunnies.

The paparazzi caught Rosie Huntington-Whiteley walking to a friend’s house in London the other day. Rosie’s rarely in London, so we don’t know what the paps were doing there, following her to a friend’s house no less. Well, we can’t really blame them; it would be hard not to look Rosie’s way when she was looking all stylish in a fedora, a Mary Katrantzou printed blazer, and jeans that looked like they were made for her.

Perhaps Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s jeans were really made-to-fit because they look like second skin on her. Either that or she just knows what works for her body. She’s a tall, long-legged beauty, so we’re sure she has no problems with that!

Selena Gomez was a vision of style at Heathrow Airport in London yesterday. We just featured her a few days ago wearing a sporty ensemble complete with a beanie and a pair of slouchy pajama pants. This time, however, she traded her pajama pants with a sleek pair of printed leggings.

If there’s anything I can say about Selena, it’s that she knows how to dress up for an occasion. Whether it be for a red carpet event or for a simple walk in the park, she thinks about what she will wear carefully and pulls it off serenely.

The long flight to London definitely isn’t to be taken lightly, so she opted for comfort. But even with that in mind, she managed to inject serious style into her outfit through a pair of printed leggings. It broke off the monotony of her all-black ensemble. Let’s dissect further what Selena did here, shall we?

She assembled black pieces — a black top and a black asymmetric blazer. Leggings are a little tricky to wear, but she made it look effortless by pairing them with a long blazer. It created a tasteful silhouette. Something oversized or long for a top would work best for leggings.

Unless you are playing on prints, do what Selena did and opt for solid-colored accents. Her black Chanel loafers, retro sunnies, and white handbag were enough accessories to make her look chic.

Sarah Jessica Parker was seen once again yesterday in another one of her low-key and no-fuss denim outfits. This time, she went for an ultrarelaxed look in a gray long-sleeved tee, slouchy skinny jeans, and boyish booties with no socks.

She wore this outfit with a tailored blazer earlier in the day, but we prefer her look without it. She appeared to be much more effortless without the blazer. Well, this outfit probably was put together without any effort at all — what we mean is that the ensemble looks a lot more carefree and easygoing.
