The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports that the number of two STDs, syphilis and chlamydia are on the rise while gonorrhea is holding steady. The numbers from 2007 showed that over 1.1 million cases of chlamydia were reported; the largest number of chlamydia cases ever reported by the CDC. That equates to about 370 cases per 100,000 people, a 7.5 percent increase over the previous year. At the same time, syphilis cases rose 15 percent, including over 400 babies infected with syphilis at birth. Overall, more women than men had STDs in 2007.

A growing body of evidence suggesting that hepatitis C can be transmitted sexually is prompting some AIDS activists to call for more research and for AIDS groups to talk to clients about the health threat. Recent European studies have documented sexual transmission among groups of gay men who do not inject drugs. Most of the hepatitis C infections found in those studies are among gay men who are also infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, but some research suggests that sexual transmission of hepatitis C is happening among gay men who are not HIV-positive.
When it comes to avoid being pulled over there are always the common sense things like not driving erratically and doing 90 mph through a School zone or swerving in and out of traffic like Ricky Bobby (Shake N’ Bake, Baby!). What about the little things? The little things that we all do that attract attention to ourselves or our vehicles? Some people use their brains and it doesn’t take a rocket surgeon to figure out most things that cops might see that they feel is suspect enough to pull you over. Did you know that having items, especially in excess hanging from your rearview mirror may be grounds for a ticket? Yes, sir! That stinky little pine tree that they make up in Watertown, NY can get you a ticket for obstructing your view. Want to know a few other ways you can avoid being pulled over?

Check out America The Lost and find out 11 Ways To Avoid Being Pulled Over. I haven’t been ticketed in 10 years. Why? Because I’m damn lucky for one, but also because I practice most of these tips every time I drive somewhere.

Want to save fuel in the process of avoiding being pulled over for something stupid? They also offer up some 5 Simple Tips to Improve Gas Mileage. It may be cheaper than what it was this time last year…but it’s still not free.

Surf around America The Lost a bit, there is a lot of other great information and articles there too.

Upon looking for some good content today I ran across three articles on about male sexual health. Each one is worth a good read through if you have the time.

Penile Extensions WARNING: Images In The Links May Not Be Safe For Work even if they are for medical/health reasons.

Some men need one, some men want one and some men don’t need or want one. Andromedical produces the Andro-penis, penile extension for the treatment of Peyronie’s disease, also know as curvature of the penis or as I have heard some ladies call it “Captain HOOK syndrome”. It can also be used to lengthen or stretch the penis to a slightly longer length. The link above is to the study. To learn more about the Andro-penis you can visit Andropenis.com, where you can purchase this device for $299 USD. To learn more about Andromedical and Peyronie’s Disease go to Andromedical.com.

Male Circumcision Website

Male circumcision is recommended in prevention of infections and sexual transmitted diseases. There is a new website called malecircumcision.org that was launched by WHO.int, UNAIDS.org as well as FHI.org and the Aids Vaccine Advocacy Coalition. The website was launched in order to make people men aware of male circumcision and as a resource on the subject as well as HIV and AIDS.

Drugs And Sexual Stimulation

This article states that a study shows that most drug addicts use drugs to enhance their sexual performance. They aren’t yalking about Viagra or the other erectile dysfunction drugs, either. They’re talking about narcotics like Cocaine. 7 out of 10 addict males admit to using for sexual pleasure.

Smokeless tobacco use by teens is nothing new. They experiment all the time with tobacco. Unfortunately that experimentation normally leads to addictive habits. It happened to me with smoking.

Some teen boys would rather use smokeless tobacco as opposed to smoking because of various reasons. It’s easier to conceal, they don’t have worry about the effects of smoking on their athletics and they don’t like to stink of cigarettes. I can only imagine how much I used to stink up the school buses and classrooms when I was in high school. Aside from the fact that I’m an ugly dude, the girls probably didn’t like the way I smelled of Marlboro reds.

Smokeless tobacco may be a “safer” alternative than smoking, but it’s still not really safe at all. Smokeless tobacco can cause various oral cancers as well as stomach cancer. According to a report by the federal government smokeless tobacco use among teenage boys has increased 1% (from 3.4% to 4.4%) from 2002 to 2007. The study was based off of data from 405,000 people over the age of 12 that took part in the survey. You may think 1% isn’t much, but that’s an increase of 4050 people from 13770 people to 17820 people.

Now this study is totally subject to scrutiny because you can’t exactly draw 100% accurate date from only 405,000 people, but I would be willing to say that it’s probably close.

Teens are ultimately going to do what they want when their parents aren’t around and when they’re subject to peer pressure. The best you can do is talk to them, voice your concerns, punish them when they disobey and hope they are listening and understand your concern and love.

On another note, there was a recent study that showed that kids that came from non-smoking households also were less apt to smoke later on. Same thing pretty much goes for alcohol consumption as well.

The funny thing about the original source where I read this from on MSN Health, was that they show a can of Mint snuff. Not mint flavored snuff, but snuff made purely of mint leaves, a tobacco-less product.

It’s been a few months since Michigan passed its version of a medical marijuana law. And since that time, a debate among the medical professionals in my facility and no doubt facilities around the state has begun. What if any are the benefits of medical marijuana? Does medical marijuana offer patients another option to treat their symptoms or is it just an excuse to smoke pot legally? Wherever you sit on the medical marijuana fence, the first step in deciding if there is a place for marijuana in medicine starts with an understanding of what supporters say are its benefits. This article presents the facts about medical marijuana so you can decide for yourself.

It might be, slowly. I remember watching an episode of Malcolm In The Middle and the father, Hal, was in the backyard with the microwave oven and he said to one of the kids; “Look, Dewey. I got the microwave to work without closing the door”. While it was funny, it’s also sad that some people have surely tried that, and it’s not good.

I’ve often wondered about just how safe microwave ovens are. Obviously if you have a pace-maker there are risks. If you think about it, you place food in to this box that reheats it using radiation. How safe can that really be? Here are a few points that were brought up on this subject over at Mensgarage.com.

“using the microwave to cook vegetables you were losing up to 98% of the veggies nutrients (especially if you had any water in with them ).” “It was also found that re-heating meat such as steak or hamburgers that the microwave actually destroyed all the animal protein”“Microwaves use radiation to re-heat the food and an astonishing amount of microwaves have been know to leak and expose people to EMF’s ( electromagnetic fields ).”

If that isn’t enough to make you think the next time you go to “nuke” something, read the rest of the article at Men’s Garage.

With every convenience there is always a risk, right?

I hate iPhones. Why? Same reason I hate Macs; because I don’t have one. One of the great things about the iPod Touch and iPhone is all the applications that you can download to them. Not just applications, but FREE applications.

One of the newest and truly useful applications launching is a “Natural Cures” application that you can download. The “Natural Cures” app is exactly what it says. It’s an application that shows you Natural Cures for various common ailments.

“Natural Cures” in a Nutshell:
- Comprehensive advice on top health issues, natural and conventional remedies, many of which are available at leading health food stores and online.
- Health conditions listed in convenient A-Z format.
- Easy-to-understand nutrition guidance with detailed dosage
recommendations.
- Weekly health news and blog access focused on comprehensive medicine.
- Access to additional resources, including free software to evaluate
symptoms, and referrals to trained integrative physicians.
- iPhone Category: Healthcare & Fitness
- Developer: Plum Amazing; Version: 2.0; Size:0.7 MB
- Average User Rating: 4.4/5

In its initial test version, “Natural Cures” has already placed in the top ten of the “Top Free Apps” list for the “Healthcare & Fitness” category of the iPhone-with around 1600 downloads per day, and growing.

Natural Cures was developed by Jacob Teitelbaum, MD, and his wife Laurie Teitelbaum. Jacob is a best selling internist and researcher while his wife, Laurie, is a nutritionist. They developed this application to show people how to combine prescription and natural therapies to improve health. Rising health care costs have people looking for other routes than having to pay co-pays and out of network costs for simple visits to the doctors office. Of course if you have a chronic condition, it may be best to visit a doctor. For things that aren’t so serious all you may have to do is reach in to your pocket or handbag.

To find the Natural Cures App, simply search “Natural Cures” in iTunes. Two apps will come up. One will be fore $0.99 and one for free. The free one is the Natural Cures App I speak of here.

According to a study by Kaiser Permanente, drinking a glass of wine a day may reduce the risk of Barret’s Esophagus. Barret’s esophagus, according to Wikipedia is: “refers to an abnormal change (metaplasia) in the cells of the lower end of the esophagus thought to be caused by damage from chronic acid exposure, or reflux esophagitis.” Barret’s Esophagus has often been a sign of possible future esophageal cancer.

In this Kaiser Permanente study, researchers looked at 953 men and women in Northern California and found that those who drank one or more glasses of red or white wine a day were 56 percent less likely to develop Barrett’s esophagus. Beer or liquor did not lower the risk, and the protective effect of wine didn’t increased with higher consumption.

They are not 100% sure of why the wine may help prevent Esophageal Cancer but some suspect that the antioxidants in wine may counteract the effects of Barret’s Esophagus.
