Music is about having a special connection with a song, for both, the artist and the fan. So it’s always nice to see when upcoming artists cover songs that they actually love. Classics that get a modern touch. That sometimes is even more exciting than just covering the latest hits.

After listening to a couple of songs by aspiring British singer-songwriter Daisy Howard, this was the one that stuck: a cover of the 1997 Foo Fighters record “Everlong”. The song was a single from their second album “The Colour and the shape”. And while that seems like some time ago, “Everlong” was part of last year’s “The Wolf of Wall Street” movie. Check out this sweet, soulful cover to check how the song feels in the year 2014.

Ed Sheeran – Sing (Rock Version)

Ed Sheeran has just released the official music video his of new song “Sing”. Ed seems to hang out with Pharrell a lot lately, so it’s no surprise that the song is different from most of his other stuff but not less exciting. It’s another promising teaser for his upcoming album “x”.

While the guys of Fast Forward Music have submitted their YouTube channel a while ago, we followed their music closely. And yes, they have their own version of Ed Sheeran’s “Sing” and it’s awesome. Let’s just say there is slighty more drive and attitude involved. The rock cover shows the guys of Fast Forward Music right in there element. Impressive, guys!

Yep, we’re finally doing it. We’re featuring a Justin Bieber cover. That’s a premiere I think, but this cover is hella fresh! The boy JP Castillo and his bro Isaiah Elizalde have created an incredibly cool a capella version of the Bieber hit “As Long As You Love Me”.

What they’ve created is really impressive considering the full sound and of course are no instruments involved. Besides their vocals. And those are on point. Justin Bieber would like these guys. I’m sure.

Hunter Hayes has just recently released his second studio album “Storyline”, which includes the catchy “You Think You Know Somebody” with a handful powerful lyrics like “Yeah it could’ve been a long walk talk to fix this / The seas were getting rough, but I thought we were worth this”.

The extremely talented Tayler Buono stripped it down to a beautiful piano version that even tops Hunter Hayes’ powerful original track. Tayler lets you feel every word. Her version is painful, fragile, but also more determined and gives you a whole new perspective on the song. Covering Lana Del Rey is at least 50% about attitude, which many of the “West Coast” covers on YouTube are missing. Luckily after some digging I found an acoustic version of “West Coast” that had it all.

YouTuber Joooeyful, who’s real name according to her Twitter is Scarlet, not only brings a lot of attitude, but also passion and a voice that is sexy as hell. Watch out Lana del Rey! Scarlet is a diamond in the rough and delivers my favorite cover of “West Coast” so far.

She is one of the first singers who got signed from YouTube: Esmee Denters. The dutch girl is still delivering some awesome cover songs every other Monday, so check out her channel.

Although she could be considered a pioneer or veteran, she is only 25. This time she puts a little twist on the Coldplay hit “The Scientist”. Esmee playing the ukulele while singing a soulful Coldplay cover? It doesn’t get much better than this guys. As always her powerful, clear voice shines through.
