Review of the Toyota Highlander Cup Holder Insert (Purchased on eBay)

Recently bought a 2004 Toyota Highlander and noticed it had a lot of compartment space in the console, but no specific cup holder spaces. It looked like there was a part that used to fit inside the compartment to make a cup holder, but the piece was no longer there.

A quick online search reveals the part needed, a tiny plastic part that was $41.95.

Head over to eBay and found someone saw the need and filled it. A simple piece that simply sits right inside the console, just drop it in and you are done, perfect snug fit. Easily removable for cleaning or re-use of the space.

The console compartment door cover still opens and closes normally.

Like a lot of people, I use my notebook mainly as a “desktop” computer. It usually sits on my desk 90% of the time next to an external monitor. The only problem was that the notebook screen sat a few inches below the external monitor.

To solve this, I ordered the S1801 Lenovo Stand, and after snapping a few pieces together, it really improved my desktop experience.

Raising up the screen to be closer to eye level

Created more desktop space, since the notebook keyboard is now up at an angle

Provides better airflow under the laptop for improved cooling.

Now that I have this setup, I wish I would have done it a long time ago! Much improved. I would highly recommend using a stand like this to anyone who mostly uses their laptop on their desk.

Even if you do often carry your laptop around, it is really no trouble to remove and replace it back on the stand anyway.

Another bonus is that I can set papers on the notebook’s keyboard, it makes it easy to reference the material while working.

A pedometer is a device that is used to count how many steps you take.

It can be used as a motivational tool when trying to lose weight and is a good way to keep track of how active you are. It is important to do your research and find the pedometer that will work best for you.

Pedometers are worn at the waist and detect movement. It works is by disturbing a sensor with movement. It is worn at the hip and the hip moves as you make strides. The strides are counted as steps and each step is counted and recorded in your pedometer. It is important that you find the best placement for your pedometer in order to get the most accurate reading. Finding the ideal placement on your body may take a while, but it will leave less room for error.

There are many different types of pedometers on the market. There are standard ones that just count steps and there are some that show you the distance you have gone. There are also more advanced ones that not only count your steps and show your distance, but they calculate how many calories you have burned as well. Some smart phones on the market (such as the iPhone) offer a pedometer application.

There are two types of pedometers; spring-levered and piezoelectric. Spring-levered pedometers work by moving a lever arm when your hips move up and down. Spring-levered pedometers aren’t as accurate if they are tilted. Individuals who have excess body fat that disturb the tilt of the pedometer may want to steer away from the spring-levered ones.

A piezoelectric pedometers use an electric charge that counts steps when it is disturbed by the movement of your hips. Piezoelectric pedometers are less accurate with fast paced movement, so they may be more ideal for users that keep a slower pace.

F7C009q Energy-Saving Outlet. The genius in this device is the simplicity and ease of use. Only 3 settings, just plug in and go. The 3 settings are just 1/2 hour, 3 hours, or 6 hours. Plug in the Belkin, then plug your device into it’s outlet. Push the button on top and the power will flow through the outlet for whatever time you set the timer. That simple.

I love using this device, I use it in a bathroom connected to a towel warmer. During the summer I use the 1/2 hour setting, during the winter I use the 3 hour setting. That simple. I just hit it and forget it.

The second one I use on some of the Christmas lights using the 6 hour setting, this works great for displays around the home.

I own 2 of these, and each one came defective the first time, and I had to send them back to Amazon each time. I even bought them months apart. So beware of that issue…

Other great uses are for curling irons, electric heaters, or electronics chargers for cell phones or tools.

Need a dehumidifier for a small space, like a bathroom? The Eva-Dry EDV-1100 is the perfect product for the task. I have had this running in a bathroom for about 1 week, and it works well. To empty, simply slide out the bucket and pull out the rubber stopper and pour the water down the drain (or water your plants).

It is relatively quiet, compared to any other dehumidifier, however it is not quite “whisper-quiet” like the product claims. I would not want to sleep in a room with it on, but some might like the low humming noise.

Overall, the Eva-Dry is a nice little appliance and performs its job as described. Claimed to be effective for up to 1,100 cubic feet.

Most of the reviews on Amazon are also positive.Watch the video below to get a good idea of the noise level of the device as well as the size.

I used the the F7C009q Belkin Socket timer in conjunction with the EDV-1100. The two products make a great match, once you get out of the shower, hit the timer button and the Eva Dry EDV-1100 stays on for 6 hours. Perfect.

It is a unique pool vacuum that is perfect for pool spot cleaning. One of the best uses of the Super Sucker Spot Vac is for getting heavier items like sand, and larger items like leafs and those clumps of “stuff” that accumulate on the bottom of the pool. It is also handy for getting into hard-to-reach spots around starts and in corners.

How does the Super Sucker Spot Vac work? It clips into your standard pool pole like any other vacuum head, it is just much smaller, which gives it more direct suction power for getting those larger and heavier items.

I use the Super Sucker Spot Vac every time I vacuum, it is quick and easy to spot clean, and its the ONLY way to get the dirt around and on our pool steps. (as you will see in the video)

Check out the video below to see the Super Sucker Spot Vac in action in our pool!

Terrafugia Transition cruising speed in the air is 115 mph, with a 460 mile range. It requires 1/3 mile runway to take off and can fit in a standard garage.
Walk up to a car door, open up a car door, get in and sit in a car seat. How cool is that, if you’ve climbed in and out of small airplanes before you realize what a nice feature that is. In side the cockpit of the Terrafugia you have all the normal displays as a normal airplane, and a normal car.

A little bit about the controls… when in the road mode, there is a steering wheel, gas pedal, and a brake. When you change into airplane mode, your feet go out on 2 rudder pedals, the stick comes up from the floor and folds up, then you have a stick, throttle, and rudder pedals, just like any other airplane, so that any pilot can fly it. Any driver can drive it… and any pilot can fly it.

I want to pull up to somebody’s driveway and unfold the wings and have an airplane in their drive…and wonder how it got there.

T-fal BeerTender. “The ultimate at home draught beer experience”.

The BeerTender works with kegs made by Heineken. As of now you can only get Heinken and Heineken Light kegs. (I have tried one keg of each and I prefer Heineken over Heineken Light) Supposedly they are coming out with different beers in the near future. You may see other mini-kegs available, but the difference is that the Heineken DraughtKeg is pressurized.

The BeerTender is really a small fridge that surrounds the keg and keeps the beer at the optimal temperature of 39 degrees. There is an indicator light on the top of the machine that will light up once this temperature has been reached.

The ideas is to mix the right temperature and pressure for the best beer experience. And who doesn’t want that! It says the beer will stay fresh for up to 30 days once tapped.

It is very simple to use, takes maybe a minute to install a new keg into the. Watch the video for a demonstration of how to change a keg out on the BeerTender.

I really love it. We were setting up some of our many Christmas trees around the house and I knew there had to be dimmer switches for Christmas lights that you could buy at any local mart.

To my surprise there were no such products readily available. I did later on find some online, but who wants to wait? When you can build one yourself cheap and easy!

I found a site that detailed exactly what I wanted to do. I followed their directions to the letter.

You need a basic dimmer switch, probably around $6, a short household extension cord $1.50, and an electrical box, these are about 45 cents. You will also need 2 wire nuts, I already had those, but will only cost you a few cents if you need to buy some.

Basically you want to spice the dimmer between one of the wires on your new extension cord and enclose the wiring inside the box.

It took only about 5 minutes of “wiring” it was done and worked just as I had imagined.

The other bonus to having your lights running at a dimmed level is it increases the life of your lights, and saves you some $ on electricity!

Want to make one too? Check out this site for the directions that I followed.

Check out the video below to see some dimming in action!
