YTL jumps to record on share dividend plan

YTL Corp, a Malaysian construction and utilities group surged to a record in Kuala Lumpur trading after proposing to distribute treasury shares to its stockholders as part of a dividend payout. The stock advanced as much as 5 percent to 1.91 ringgit, before paring gains to 1.90 ringgit as the 12:30 pm local-time break. It was the biggest gainer on the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Index.

"We continue to like the group as it steps up efforts to reward shareholders," Chong Lee Len, an analyst at Affin Holdings Bhd., wrote in a report today. Chong kept her buy call with a price estimate of 2 ringgit.

Shareholders will be entitled to one YTL Power warrant for every 15 YTL Corp. shares held as of June 18 at 20 sen each, according to yesterday�s statement. That�s a 53 percent discount to the warrant�s five-day volume-weighted average market price of 43 sen each, it said.

Last week, YTL Corp. declared an interim dividend of 2 sen per share after third-quarter net income grew 17 percent from a year earlier to 364.8 million ringgit ($115 million). Combined, the cash dividend, share dividend and discounted warrants sale would result in a gross yield of 13.7 sen per share, it said.

YTL to pay dividends in shares, sell warrants

YTL Corp Bhd is rewarding shareholders with treasury shares and is also selling its warrants in YTL Power International Bhd at a discount. YTL Corp said in a statement that the basis of the distribution was one treasury share for every 15 YTL Corp shares held. The book closure for the share dividend is June 18.

Commenting on the distributions, YTL Corp Managing Director Tan Sri Dato� (Dr) Francis Yeoh Sock Ping, CBE, FICE, said, �YTL Corp�s objective in declaring the cash and share dividends and undertaking the proposed offer for sale of warrants is to create value for our shareholders through a progressive dividend policy that provides attractive yields on their investments. YTL Corp�s shareholders will be rewarded on three fronts, firstly, with an upfront 20% cash dividend, secondly, with an increase in their direct interests in YTL Corp via the distribution of treasury shares and, thirdly, with the ability to acquire a stake in YTL Power at a discount through the proposed offer for sale of warrants.

�At an indicative offer price of RM0.20 per warrant, the proposed offer for sale affords YTL Corp�s shareholders the opportunity to participate in the equity of YTL Power at a discount to market price, upon subscription of their allocation under the proposed offer and conversion of their warrants at the current subscription price of RM1.21 per YTL Power share thereafter.

�I am also pleased that shareholders of YTL Cement who had faith and converted to YTL Corp shareholders can also enjoy this substantial dividend.�

H&M to open in YTL�s Lot 10 - Dazzling debut

Plans underway to link Bukit Bintang and KLCC malls to attract tourists

YTL�s 9-month net profit jumps to RM854m

YTL Corp Bhd�s nine-month revenue grew 15 per cent to RM15.1 billion from RM13.15 billion previously and net profit was up 13 per cent to RM854 million from RM755.1 million in the previous corresponding period.

YTL Corp also announced an interim dividend of 20 per cent or 2 sen per share, the book closure and payment dates for which are June 12 2012 and June 27 2012, respectively.

YTL group managing director Tan Sri Dr Francis Yeoh Sock Ping said the group�s multi-utility businesses in Malaysia, the UK and Singapore and cement operations continue to drive growth.
