Seems like Baby Birds are quite the rage right now for Baby Shower Themes.
This cake was for a friend, and she absolutely loved it.

It is a triple layer vanilla cake, with a creme caramel filling.
And a baby bird on the side.
I also did sugar cookies to go along with the cake, as Thank You’s to the guests.

Something I’ve never done before, but loved it. As it was for a 2 year old, we did not use Sugarpaste, just ordinary buttercream frosting.
Wheels were biscuits, and each carriage was filled with sweeties.

A good friend of mine from Jhb was coming down to the Eastern Cape during the hols, and it was also going to be her youngest’s 13th Birthday. So she took the opportunity to order a cake from me (distance is always a problem!)
She wanted something girly, but funky without being too frilly.
This is what I created. Vanilla with caramel cream filling.
Simply covered in bright pink sugarpaste, dots, a crazy crazy bow and a silver no 13.
I really loved creating this – i think maybe because it was for a special friend?
A friend of mine in Natal wanted a classy birthday cake for a friend of her’s, here in East London.
I had seen this cake in one of my Cake books, and knew it would be perfect for her.
4 Layers of Red Velvet Cake, sandwiched together with Cream Cheese Frosting and decorated with sugarpaste peonies and royal icing.

I really, really loved how this turned out. It often seems so easy to ‘copy’ a cake, but so often it just doesn’t work. But this time it did.
And i was thrilled 
One of my regular clients contacted me to create something ‘decadent’ for her baby’s Baptism.
She wanted something different – as it was going to be shared at Church, so she decided on a Decadent Chocolate Fudge Cake, surrounded by Belgian Chocolate Pencils and topped with Chocolate Maltesers and pink flowers (which matched the cupcakes).
This is one of my favourite cakes to make. It is so absolutely delicious plus of course it has the ‘wow’ factor as it is 100% chocolate.

Ice-Cream Shoppe Party’s seem to be the rage at the moment – how cute is this?
A Chocolate Fudge Cake, frosted with Cookies & Cream Frosting and decorated with cones, which were filled with sweeties and topped with ‘ice-cream’ and a mini marshmallow.

I decided to enter a cake competition that was being hosted by the Lief Lifestyle Company. You had to create a cake that was inspired by their fabrics and products.
This is what I created.

The bottom tier was Vanilla with Caramel Cream filling, and the top tier Red Velvet with Cream Cheese Filling.
And I won the competition! Was seriously over the moon about that!
I was asked to create 24 cupcakes for a Bachelorette Party earlier this year – and the theme? 50 Shades of Grey.
Hmmmmm ….
Here is what I came up with.

They were red velvet with cream cheese frosting.
I believe they were met with a lot of ‘oh my’s ……

40th Fishing Cake

This was for a client’s husband’s 40th. He is a keen fisherman, both deep sea and in his dam’s on the farm. Nothing to busy (it was for a man afterall), but enough to keep it interesting.
Apparently the best Choc Fudge Fishing cake in our community.
Yay!
I find that I always get a bit nervous when having to do ‘boy themed’ cakes – probably because I’m a girly girl and have two daughters, so ‘boy’ stuff doesn’t really feature in my life at all!
However, I was thrilled with the outcome of this cake!

As the birthday boy was only turning 2, his mom wanted buttercream frosting and not sugarpaste. And i think it turned out really well.
It is a vanilla cake, with red buttercream frosting and then the decor is all sugarpaste.
Very cute!
