Knowledge + Action = Success

That’s it! Pretty impressive isn’t it?!

I know, not that exciting but it is what it is. It’s so simple yet so difficult to implement on a daily basis.

At least it’s been for me.

Today, after more than 3 years in the “online” world, I’m still working on being a better action taker.

To tell you the truth, I’m far from being where I would have hoped because of one thing I’ve either not taken action when I learned something or I just abandoned and left when I should’ve persevere.

Now don’t get me wrong, I have my success stories (We’ll keep that for another post…) but in general, taking action and keep focus has been a major learning process over the years.

We marketers have so easy access to so much information and “distractions” that we tend to develop a “comfort zone” in the learning process. You learn something new, you get all exited, we start our project and then the routine tasks come in and this is where we get bored and move on to the next project or should I say search our next “rush” or “bring shiny object” as they say.

Following this path will get you nowhere and only bring frustration, loss of confidence and debts! Believe me, I’ve done it!

Here are my top 3 tips to help you avoid this track by all means possible:

1- Don’t “follow” too many Gurus! Unsubscribe from all newsletters but two or three that are written by good marketers that you can look up to, share their values and can learn from by looking at how they do things. Too many emails from gurus will only distract you and make you loose focus with all the info they’re providing and products they’re promoting.
2- When you invest in an IM product to learn a method on making money online and you like what you read/watch, do it NOW! Not tonight, no tomorrow, NOW! Even if it’s on a piece of paper… If it’s a step by step product, don’t go through the whole thing at first. Just read first chapter and take action. Then read/watch chapter 2 and go back to apply what you learned. This is what I’m doing with this blog and this is why you’ll see many things change around here in the following days and weeks.
3- My final tip for the day would be to plan. Plan every freakin’ thing that has a link with your online business. What income you expect, what you’ll do with that income, what you’ll do to get that income, etc. How can you expect to get anywhere fast if you don’t know where you’re going in the first place, etc. Let the nowhere driving to the college dropouts seeking their ways in life and make a better use of your time! My major successes were all planned and it helped me stay focussed as I tended to get back to my old habits.

Dam, I have so much fun writing these posts! I feel like I could write forever but I’m sure you have some actions to take and some money to make so I won’t take any more of your time with my “perfect French Canadian English grammar” posts.

Coaching programs, eBooks, DVDs, videos… name it…

Once you’ve chosen a way, there’s a certain learning curve to go through. Everybody goes through this. You have to find what methods matches your life and character. And nothing beats experience.

Just go out there and read the stories of all the famous marketers and online successes and you’ll see that none of them made it overnight.

I can’t recall where I’ve read this but it says: ” To every overnight success there’s a 12 years story!”

Some will do faster than others. And that’s fine.

A way to accelerate your success is by having a mentor.  A mentor can help you go through that learning curve faster making you avoid the pit falls they’ve already experienced and providing you with valuable tips and tricks they’ve learned over the years testing and tweaking their own money making journey.

Now let me tell you… Not all mentors are created equal!

Take my word for it. I’ve spent thousands and thousands of dollars on coaching programs, ebooks and all sorts of learning stuff online and I had my share of excellent programs, good coaches and plain scammers who would sell their own mom for a quick buck!

Nevertheless, having a mentor has help me tremendously.

Basically with a good mentor, you can save so much time and start making money so much faster than if you would search everything on your own.

Mentors are not charging the same price. Some will cost thousands, some will charge only a few bucks… And you get what you pay for is not necessarily true in this world.

I’ve followed many of the gurus and the “coaches” out there and there are only a few that I would recommend.

I’ve never met the guy in person but I’ve followed him online for a long time and bought many of his products. His programs are always affordable, clear, simple to understand for EVERYBODY and jam packed with great content.

Well I have some good news for you!

Indeed, it is possible!

While it won’t be as instant as some would like you to believe (when they’re selling you that 2K$ program!), with a bit of work, you still can make good money pretty fast.

Ok, I heard ya… You need it fast, so what’s the best way to go? One word: eBay.

It won’t make you a millionaire in 24 hours… (Nothing will anyways… Please, make yourself a favour and stop believing that crap) but give yourself an hour or so and you will have your first auction running on eBay and could possibly making your first sales within the next 24 hours.

Isn’t it a great world we’re living in?! I say it’s AWESOME!

Setting up a seller account on eBay takes like 5 minutes.

Setting up you Paypal account to make money transactions on the web takes 5 minutes.

Looking around and gathering stuff you’re not using anymore and are ready to let go takes about 15 minutes.

Taking descent pictures of your items takes 5 minutes.

Checking what others priced similar items and how much ended past auctions takes about 10-15 minutes.

Writing your auction and uploading your pictures takes a quick 20 minutes or less depending how detailed you want it to be.

Here we go! You have your first online business running already!

No need to build websites! It’s just a fill the blanks…

No need to bring traffic! There are already millions of people shopping on eBay 24/7…

You live in the middle of nowhere! Who cares, your customer base is planet earth!

No need to go anywhere! Sit back in your pyjamas if you’d like…In some areas the carrier will come to you…

Now you only have to wait for the days you decided to run your auction for and once it’s sold, pack it and ship it!

Ok… I agree. First time you’re looking around, it may not be that fast and that easy. You have to learn where exactly to click or go but if I could give you my best advice at this moment, if you’re selling on eBay for the first time, don’t get caught in the details. Just do it. Give it your best shot and you’ll do just fine. Next auction will be better and so will the other next be!
And man… What a rush it will be when you do your first sale and see that money in your Paypal account! Even if it’s only 10 $… That feeling is Priceless! That’s where you catch that: It’s possible! That online thing is really true!

I might do some videos in the future about how to sell on eBay. I’ve seen many ebooks everywhere over the years but not many descent “look over my shoulder” videos.

For some reasons, I’ve always had difficulties to make that first post.

I’ve got so much stuff I’d like to talk to you about. Anyways… Let me introduce myself first.

My name is Yves Tessier and I’m from the Montreal Canada in the Quebec province. My first language is French so please bear with me even if I make English grammar mistakes . (Don’t worry, the content of that blog will be much better than my English! I Promise!)

I’ve been “playing around” in the “making money online” world for a bit more than 3 years now. It all started out with a book I read in 2007. It was called the 4 Hour Work Week. For those of you who are not familliar with that book, let’s just say that if you’ve been thinking about entrepreneurship for a while but haven’t taken any actions yet, you’ll be amazed and literally changed by this book. I’ll save the review of this book for another day as I plan on suggesting you books every once in a while but let’s just say that it’s a New York time Best Seller written by Timothy Ferris and it’s all about developing “passive income” streams and living THE life of your dreams.

So back in 2007, I read this book… took action… registered a company and started to seek what the heck was I gonna do to unleash that entrepreneur beast inside me… To make a long story short, I started in the wholesale & retail business and then moved to selling on eBay where I enrolled in a coaching program on how to sell on eBay and develop your own eCommerce online.

While I was developing that venture, I had to learn how to promote my eCommerce because as you probably already know it, a website without traffic is worthless and isn’t gonna bring cash back home. Basically, I had to learn Internet Marketing!

As soon as I started digging deeper in this IM world, I was hooked! That’s what I had searched all these years, endless evening and nights searching for the “way” to make money online that would match my personality and my life (three kids, a full time job, a wife working full time also at that time, involved in sports, etc…).

So here I am today and I’m finally starting out this new blog that I’ve been thinking about for a long long time! I’d really like to make this web space a place to share and discuss with you about all the knowledge I’ve cumulated in the past years and we could help each other growing our online business.

My goal here is to help you as much as I can  and do my best to avoid you all the mistakes I did and take the good roads I’ve taken.
