Interestingly, this is the first Board to introduce relative grading and Continuous & Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) in all board classes – Middle, Secondary & Senior Secondary.

The Board started conducting the Middle examination with effect from 1976 to improve educational standards at Middle level. The Haryana Board adopted 10+2 pattern of education and conducted XII class examination under the new scheme with effect from 1987. It started conducting 10+2 Vocational examination in 1990, keeping in view the need and relevance of vocational education in the backdrop of the fast changing economic scenario.
Besides, the Board had introduced the semester system of education from academic year 2006-2007 and is the first Board in India to do so.

The Board is primarily responsible for conducting examinations for school education. It also prescribes courses of instruction, text book and other books of study for school education, among various others functions.

Heroine is a bollywood movie starring Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Randeep Hooda; written and directed by Madhur Bhandarkar.

As always Bhandarkar intersperses the frames with backbiting industry types holding a drink in hand and fake smile on lips, philandering actors, haughty star wives, catty co-stars, snooping journalists, shrewd politicians and ruthless agents.

Over and over again, we’re made to sit through Mahi’s various tribulations, which, frankly, are draining and never-ending. There are too many problems, which just add to the run-time and make you restless. What makes it worse is that the film focuses almost completely on the downside of fame, and only briefly touches upon the glamour – unfortunately, all the negativity just gets exhausting after a while.

Same old jibes, insecurities, conflicts, threats and scandals. Not to forget his constant obsession with homosexuals as objects of ridicule, be it in Heroine‘s visibly effeminate fashion designer, gossip-hunting reporter or a multi-purpose sex toy. The latter even remarks, ‘Is industry mein zip aur zubaan dono sambhal ke kholni chahiye (One should open their mouth and zips with equal care).’The film that Bhandarkar has made is indeed disappointingly mechanical. Mercifully, Kareena does demonstrate that she has a feel for the character. But, then, why wouldn’t she? After all she plays herself in Heroine.

As for the others in the principal cast, Randeep Hooda, as always, makes the most of the limited opportunity that he is given. There is more genuine emotion in a casual “kya yaar” that he utters than in the whole film put together. Need we say more?

Helen, cast as a yesteryears star who serves as an occasional sounding board for the protagonist, and Shahana Goswami in a cameo as a full-of-beans regional cinema actor who takes Mahi to a brothel to research for a role, provide rare flashes of brightness in an otherwise listless show.

Heroine has a scene in which a film producer discusses an upcoming Rs 150-crore project with a male superstar. On the wall of his room we catch a glimpse of posters of Citizen Kane and Rear Window.

The film ends on an abrupt and futile note making everything that happened before a waste of time. It’s worth watching only for Kareena Kapoor! The film may not live up to its expectations, but Bebo definitely lives up to the title. (2/5 stars.)
