The new judge on American Idol Kara DioGuardi has wed fiancee Mike McCuddy in Prospect Harbor, Maine.The bride wore a Vera Wang gown and the ceremony took place in the United Methodist Church in front of only 30 or so guests. DioGuardi has a home in Prospect Harbor and it is there where she met now-husband McCuddy. He was the contractor working on the home next to hers. McCuddy has a young daughter, so the 38 year-old songwriter is now a stepmom.The couple left on their honeymoon today. In a recent interview with AOL Television, rocker Gene Simmons of KISS said that American Idol finalist Adam Lambert killed his career by coming out of the closet. Simmons maintains that now the conversation is about Lamberts sexuality and not his talent. He says, He’s done. You’re forcing people to deal with issues they may not be interested in. Life is unfair, and the masses don’t all live in L.A. They live in Wisconsin and Nebraska, and you’re on crack if you think the same rules apply there. First of all, I think Simmons is trying to capitalize on his Idol experience to promote the new season of his reality show. Nobody asked him. The Crying Girl from season six of "American Idol" is back... to audition.Ashley Ferl (aka Crying Girl) was among the first in line outside Pasadena's Rose Bowl for the season nine auditions, reports the Bay Area News. Ashley turned 16 this year and became eligible to audition for the show. Unfortunately she did not make it past the first round. I would've thought Ashley would've been sent through to at least see the judges, since she was so famous for losing her mind over Sanjaya. I mean, we haven't seen that kind of hysterics since the Beatles. I'm also bummed she didn't get through to see the judges because that means we won't see her on TV come February 2010....

The contract for Simon Cowells 9th season of American Idol is reportedly through the roof.According to early leaks regarding negotiations, co-producers Fox and 19 Entertainment have offered Cowell between $100 million to $144 million to stick with Idol once his contract is up in May. That is three to four times his previous salary of $36 million.American Idol generally nets about $900 million per season, so that salary is a proverbial drop in the bucket. However, the high end of those negotiations, $144 million, is more money than the 2008 salaries of Miley Cyrus, Ryan Seacrest, Jessica Alba, Carrie Underwood, Eli Manning, 50 Cent, Scarlett Johansson, and Albert Pujols combined.I understand that its really not much of a show without Cowell, but... holy cow....

Im sure by now you have heard about American Idol runner-up Adam Lamberts indie album versus his studio album.The indie album is called On With the Show and is the one Lambert recorded before his Idol journey and is going to be released now that hes a big star. Lambert is trying to distance himself from said album because he says his 19 Entertainment album due out later this year is the publics first chance to hear what his music really sounds like.Conversely, Hi Fi Recordings, the indie label responsible for On With the Show, is absolutely ecstatic about the upcoming album and insists that Lambert helped co-write eight of the 11 songs on the album.Heres what I wonder: is Lambert really trying to distance himself from his former work? "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell and British billionaire Sir Philip Green are collaborating to form an entertainment company that will develop content both in the United States and United Kingdom.According to the Financial Times article, "The venture with Sir Philip will effectively act as a holding company for all of Mr Cowell’s entertainment interests, which include 'Britain's Got Talent,' 'America's Got Talent,' and 'The X-Factor.' But it will also be a springboard for new programming devised or produced by Mr Cowell, with Sir Philip providing business advice."This joining forces has come about because Sir Philip has been advising Cowell on his upcoming contract negotiations with Idol. According to a Financial Times source, he has been offered a contract that would "make him the best-paid star of TV, with a deal likely to surpass even Oprah Winfrey’s estimated earnings."That's amazing and also a little funny since Cowell's credit card was recently declined at London restaurant Cipriani....
