ANNYEONG HASEYOOOOOO!

Pardon the Korean bug that has bitten me in recent years (notably the last 1.5 years where I've had my eyes & ears glued to plenty of awesome Korean dramas, variety shows and songs). You name them, I'll know it! Yeah, you get what I mean.

Truth to be told, I was already into Korean music and dramas ever since the 90s.

For those who are from "my era", you'd definitely find this popular Korean drama familiar. Its called "Autumn In My Heart" (aka "Qiu Tian De Tong Hua").

Does this jolt your memory back?

It is one of the most touching Korean drama of all times.

I used to prepare a box of tissue paper by my side before the drama would air on tv every Thursday night back then. No joke! #memories

And Korean bands like G.O.D, Shinhwa and H.O.T, used to be really popular back then. These guys are now already in their 40s lol.

So yes, I kinda reconnected back with my love for Korean shows/ music about 1.5 years ago.

And of course, I've gradually fallen in love with the Korean culture and history as well, other than the KPop/ KWave trend that seems to have taken over the world by storm in recent years.

Here's what I really love about Korea:

Its rich culture & history.

What do I mean by culture?

For a start.

I love their gorgeous traditional costume,

the Hanbok!

Even the fiercest of woman will look feminine and sweet in a Hanbok, don't you think so? I mean, I would totally love to adorn one (that's in my bucket list btw). Its just so Princess-y and gives off a gentle vibe.

Korean Greetings.

It sounds more warm than an English Hello.

Greetings in Korean just gives one a warm sense of genuine welcome.

Korean Language - Hangul

And for someone like me who easily picks up foreign language, I totally love their language - which is officially known as "Hangul"!

Just so you know, the alphabet was created by King Sejong in 1446.

If you really took some time to look into the language, you'll realize that the Hangul actually conglomerates words of respect and social status into it - i.e, you can interchangeably use words in your conversation according to whom you are speaking to, for eg, an elder, a younger person, an official etc. Hence, I like that there is some traditional value to the language itself.

And lastly...

OH GLORIOUS FOOD!

LOL.

Tell me, who can ever resist food???!

I LOVE FOOD! In fact, I live to eat haha!!

South Korea and its Kpop/ KWave trend has made itself so popular til... everyone around the world knows Kimchi!

You can be ignorant about other Korean dishes, but Kimchi? You must be living under the rock if you don't know kimchi yo!

And then, there's the the usual suspects like the Jajangmyeon (noodles in black bean sauce with some meat/ veggie), Kimbap (snack that consists of cooked rice, salt, sesame oil and sesame seeds), Ddeokbokki (dish made with rice cake, seasoned beef, fish cakes and veggie) and many more. Not forgetting Korean BBQ that's commonly found in Singapore too.

(Thanks to the korean variety show "Running Man" that I've got acquainted with the names of all these dishes as if I'm Korean myself haha!)

I love how these Korean dishes are usually made of simple/basic ingredients such as rice, potato, veggies, beans etc and yet they are full of flavour. Tangy? Sweet? Spicy? They have it all to suit your taste buds.

So speaking of Korean food,

I'm really HAPPYYYYYY to hear that

KFC

has just introduced the

Korean-inspired sweet and spicy Yang Yeum chicken wings!

DAEBAK!!!

Whoever says no to chicken wings? ~~Esp when its handsome like a Korean actor.~~

Gosh, I'm already salivating. And there's also the Japanese-inspired tangy yet savoury Umadare - though Im just a lil biased here because I'd prefer anything that's Korean first LOL.

H.E.L.L.O everyone! :)

It's been one huge rollercoaster ride in the past few months - I've been unexpectedly busy til I haven't really had time to blog! That said, it's all good. The less time I have to blog, it means the busier I am, which also means the more positive things have been going quite well for me - really unexpectedly but I'm glad. It's a happy 'complain' anyways.

So a few days back, I was invited to CHANEL's private exhibition in Singapore which featured

The Little Black Jacket - Photos by Karl Lagerfeld,

where Chanel's classic were revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld.

Let me begin by saying that Coco Chanel is da bomb - I love her for being such an inspiration, believing in the beauty of her dreams and for being so daring when it came to fashion.

The Little Black Jacket by CHANEL was a private event held on 8 Nov 2013, where only friends of the media, celebrities and VIPs were invited. Singapore is its last stop for the exhibition

(which showcases over 100 photographs of notable personalities wearing CHANEL's little black jacket).

Hence, it was our honour (myself + artistes Liv Lo & Henry Golding who are friends of mine) to attend the exclusive event/ exhibition.

In fact, CHANEL was so sweet to have three of us picked up in a cosy Mercedes ride all the way to MBS. Our chauffeur Mr Ramli was very polite & patient too. Thank you CHANEL!

The event was held at the Arts Science Museum from 9pm all the way to midnight. We had lots of FUN! The exhibition photos were worth praising & admiring and I spotted some of my fav photos too - scroll down as I write.

P/S: The photos I have here might not look so great as the lighting in the exhibition was rather dim at certain areas (to showcase the exhibition).

So there was a point of time when Henry was speaking with some guests while Liv and I were dragged away elsewhere to speak with the media. By then, we had 'lost' Henry and we were walking around, admiring at the photos... and suddenly we spotted this quiet room at a corner where no one seemed to be aware of!

It had a sign that said

'FIRE EXHIBITION'.

So we decided to check out the room... and what we saw... was just breathtaking!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!!

The photos were actually imprinted onto the glass. Gosh. And you know I'm a sucker for colours and artsy stuff too. So this is really my ultimate fav! Just can't take my eyes of it. Beautiful!

And towards our left (in the same room), we saw her!

It was really nice to hang out with so many familiar faces, especially with my friends from the media, during the event. The exhibition was too cool and we even received mega huge exclusive posters at the end of it.

We each had a photo taken against this wall - it's like a must-do, with that long stretch of film-like photos. Lovely. I like this stretch of photos exhibit too.

As you can tell from the photos I've posted above, I was wearing PINK.

Bright pink, if I may add so!

Well, Pink is the new black. I INSIST. :D

(Okok, it's just me, I don't really like following the rules/themes usually + black isn't my fav colour.)

A Note From Me

That's right.
When I first read this quote a few months ago, it immediately spoke to me.
Then I grew to love this quote and decided to stick to it as I reached another stage of my life recently. I've never looked back since then and am so happy now - things kind of happened by chance & fate, as I'd call it. With a touch of madness, followed by good karma (whatever you do will come around to you).

Chasing My Dreams
I strongly believe that everyone should chase after their dreams if they are truly passionate about something - no matter how crazy or out of the world it may seem. If you have to give up something in order to attain your goals/ dreams, then give it up and just do it. Why should one be afraid of the unknown?

An old friend of mine PXH used to tell me this whenever I was faced with a setback, he would say "Burn the bridge and never look back!" - he used to be in the army btw, hence his favourite army-ish quote lol. He is right. One should only look forward and not backwards.

No 'What Ifs'
The core happiness in life is to truly live my life the way I want in this one lifetime without holding back. Love freely, laugh freely, run freely. There shouldn't be too many "what ifs" in life - and I KNOW that I don't wanna talk about these "what ifs" when I'm old.

Life has been such a wonderful journey.
I've somewhat found my calling.
I say "somewhat" because I don't believe in living in just ONE dream at a time. I'm not greedy. Its just that I know where I want to go and be at in life one day + how to get there through my sheer determination. Moreover, life is short.

And believe me, everyone has a talent, so I hope you'll find yours too if you haven't. Just do yourself a favour - BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAMS. GO FOR IT! - Even if some people tell you otherwise.

Lastly.
Being able to do what I really love to do (aka passion) and being able to achieve a part of my dream through my own hard work now (and the support received from my loved ones and friends) is nothing less than a blessing. I am very happy and thankful to have each one of them in my life.

I just have the strong urge to comment on the recent news about Xie Shaoguang becoming a monk for real. I think he's fantastic!

Totally respect him for following his desired path by leaving all his fame behind. I don't think its easy to leave one's fame, accredits and riches just like that but he did it yo. He wasn't just an actor mind you, but an award winning one AND he was really THAT popular amongst the old generation and the 80s kid who grew up watching him on tv in the 90s (like me). He has my respect!

And I walked around hazy Singapore with it since I had to work and run an errand before heading back home.

The Great Gatsby Gala Premiere

(TGIW - Thank God Its Weekend!)

Given the nature of my work, I am often invited to gala premieres and many other high profiled events (which you'll rarely see me blog about - because I have no time?!!). But here's one which I thought has to be blogged about (even when I have no time lol) so that I can share some great reviews with you, my readers!

THE GREAT GATSBY GALA PREMIERE

Honestly, I didn't have much expectations about the movie at first but boy, I'm blown over after watching it. The visuals were amazingly beautiful and there was a great selection of music.. I fell in love with it, especially with the dance numbers. Its the kind of classic movie that I wish I was in. Maybe my soul belongs to the 20s era afterall. :)

The gala premiere cocktail began at 6pm. Whilst popular names like Daniel Boey, Bryan Gamboa, Jimmy Taenaka, Nikki Muller and Joakim Gomez were there with me, guess who I ran into?!

CHUA ENLAI!

Hahahaha.

Halfway whilst Enlai and I was chatting outside the movie hall, we suddenly realized something & quickly grabbed a photo together. Look at this:

We were both dressed in such matching colours with Tiffany & Co's blue carpet hahaha. That was so funny because it wasn't intentional.

Synopsis:
The Great Gatsby is a movie directed by Baz Luhrmann.
It is about how Nick Carraway (the guy who is chasing his own American Dream) leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of corrupted morals, glittering jazz and such. Then Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) and Nick is enchanted into the captivating world of the super rich.

For those of you who have not watched The Great Gatsby yet, these are the main characters that I think you should closely look out for:

- Jay Gatsby (played by Leonardo DiCaprio)
- Nick Carraway (played by Tobey Maguire)
- Daisy Buchanan (played by Carey Mulligan)
- Tom Buchanan (played by Joel Edgerton)

It also occurred to me how Leonardo DiCaprio from the Titanic had aged so much. No one can escape from the clutches of time eh?! But he's like fine wine, what's there to complain? :)

Oh yes, Bollywood's most acclaimed actor Amitabh Bachan made an appearance in the movie too. He played as Meyer Wolfsheim.

Movie Review:

I know there are some critics out there who gave the movie a nay while some gave the thumbs up, but if you'd ask me, I'd actually rate the movie 7.5/10 and say its a YAY.

What I really loved about the movie was its stunning visuals, the captivating music, the party choreography, the sweet love story, the tinge of comedy (when Gatsby was finally going to meet Daisy) and the ending itself. Especially the sad ending (yes, I must emphasize that). Because whatever that was uttered towards the ending of The Great Gatsby made lots of sense (in real life). It was meaningful. Go watch it! :)

In case you are interested to know...
The Great Gatsby is an adaptation from a novel.
(And if you google further, you'll realize that the original author of the novel, F. Scott Fitzgerald, actually died thinking that his work was a failure as only 20, 000 copies were sold when it was first published in the 1920s. Who would have known that years later, his work would become popular and now, its even on our big screen! He would have been proud to know that if he's still alive, I'm sure!)

Rest In Peace, Huang Wenyong

Life is so fragile.

It was shocking to learn of MediaCorp Channel 8's actor Huang Wenyong passing yesterday (Saturday, 20 April 2013). I was in a friend's friend's car on my way back after midnight when that friend suddenly mentioned that he had passed away at about 5pm. It was so shocking and grieving, I must say.

Who would have thought he'd die of lymphoma at age 60? That's too soon to be called back to heaven. And the irony of it all, he died a day before Star Awards 2013, while he's still in the running for the category of "Top 10 Most Popular Male Artiste". :(

I grew up watching him on TV since I was a kid.
And he had always made an impression on me - like the uncle who is not related to you, the uncle you've never met but 'known' all your life. Someone you don't know but wish them well wherever they are.

My deep condolences to his family and friends.

The entertainment industry has definitely loss a man of humble character and great talent. I think what I really liked about Huang Wenyong is that, he was never that "Superstar" nor glamorous when he was alive. He didn't throw airs. He was just him - an actor who acted and still carried on with his life as normal as you and me.

May you rest in peace, Huang Wenyong.

You'll always be remembered.

Comfort & CityCab Taxi Drivers Have Struck It Rich!

Headline News: Comfort & CityCab Taxi Drivers Have Struck It Rich.

I can't help but to think that way.

Recently, ever since a couple of weeks before Chinese New Year, I've noticed that there has been a HUGE deprivation of Comfort & CityCab taxi services between 8.00am to 10.00am. The same seems to apply between 9.00pm to 10.30pm (but I'm not too concerned about the issue at night, so that's okay).

I've heard from PLENTY of friends and colleagues about how difficult it is to get a cab these days. One can max out 10 tries of booking through its app on hp, call the hotline and never get through the line (with promised sms-es that never arrives), try for an hour to flag for EMPTY cabs along the road and even wait at the snake-long-queue taxi stands for an hour+ - but still, no taxi will ever arrive until 10am onwards.

So what's happening here, dear taxi drivers?

Too much money til you don't wanna earn or pick up passengers anymore?

Or are ALL of them busy having breakfast with their taxi brothers from 9am to 10am??
(I'm not trying to accuse here but this is what all the taxi drivers have been telling me whenever I ask them about the zero-response to taxi bookings and at taxi stands before 10am - they all say that it is their "breakfast hour".)

What is this??? You mean EVERY SINGLE COMFORT & CITYCAB TAXI DRIVER has to eat breakfast at that same hour?

This is RIDICULOUS.

Or correct me if I'm wrong.

Is there truly a shortage of taxis?
But I don't think so. I've been seeing SO MANY empty taxis passing by without bothering to stop at all during these hours. So tell me, what's the problem here?

This problem has to cease. It is affecting us - the commuters. It is AFFECTING ME & my friends and we are upset! Hence this post.

It's about time for those who are irritated about this ongoing cab problem to speak up and question it.

Ok I'm hungry, I gotta go now.

I'm beginning to hate taxis.

Where is the love at PIE crash, Uncle Lorry?

The spotlight on lorry driver, Mr Goh Yu Zhong, 52 years old, has incurred the wrath of all online keyboard warriors in Singapore who have watched the video of the lorry-motorbike crash which happened on 18 January 2013 at the PIE (Eng Neo to Steven Road). The videos has gone viral and he's been termed as a "road bully" ever since.

(To my foreign readers: PIE refers to one of the expressway in Singapore)

And it so happens that the motorist, Hazel Ng, is my friend's friend. To think that I had just met her recently during a gathering and BAAAAAM, by a twist of fate, she's now badly injured in the hospital because of one man's reckless act. It is really sad to hear (and to watch on the video) how one's precious life could be affected/ almost taken away within mere seconds on the road. Life is so unpredictable, and yet, its unsettling to see that some tragedies are man-made.

Who's to blame for the crash?

I don't know, but it's definitely NOT the motorbike rider.
Not because I'm an acquaintance but hell, its evident that she was riding steadily on that lane and the lorry simply decided to move in close and ram on her motorbike off at the PIE - JUST LIKE THAT. Thank God for the helmet, at least her head was protected to keep her alive!

Okay, maybe he is not like that.

But what really happened (besides the view from the camera in the car behind)?

I'll try not to judge coz...
1) I don't know much about the rules of the road since I don't drive. Many people online mentioned key words like road hogging, the lorry not supposed to be on lane 1, blind spots, speed limits etc etc. I don't drive and I don't know these things, so I can't make judgements for sure.

2) The lorry driver may or may not have had his difficulties when the accident happened (though I can't figure out what exactly it could be, so bizarre). Was he on the phone? Did he imagine a vehicle speeding behind towards his lorrry and so he quickly went to lane 2 only to realize that he was gonna knock the motorbike over? Was he day dreaming and thinking of something else? Or did he do it purposely out of angst?

Well, let the traffic police do their work.
(It is claimed that he wasn't much remorseful and even took away the umbrella that was used to shield the victim from the heat of the sun. Either the one who gave the account OR the driver is a big liar - with regards to the umbrella matter.) I personally think its strange though - why would an accused even bother taking away the umbrella from the witness(es) at the accident scene? That's weird, and certainly stupid, and not to mention, plain heartless.

Nevertheless.
If his reckless act was on purpose, that is so vengeful and evil.
I really hope he didn't do this on purpose. If he had, then the pressure that he's feeling from the media and netizens is really nothing. He should be heavily penalized for his rash act (if he's proven guilty of causing injury on purpose that is).

Then again, let's give him the benefit of the doubt til the press releases more information about his statement to the police etc.

Maybe it's all too clear in the video to see who's to be blamed.

I don't know.
I guess... I'm just hoping that he didn't do this on purpose so that I may see some hope in humanity amongst road users (and in this world). The world will be a better place with more humanity and less vengeance.

May Hazel be healed completely from this trauma and recover from her injuries as soon as possible!! She's really just an innocent female rider who doesn't deserve all this pain.

It's really, really unfortunate that this had to happen.

Best things to do in your 20s

I always believe that life should be an adventure.
Life begins when we're a tiny bubble called foetus and life ends when the soul departs from the body. Its as simple as that to me.

And what goes in that ONE life we have, to me - is something very important.

I admit that I have traits of a perfectionist in some aspects of life but ironically, I feel that life doesn't have to be 100% planned, beautifully arranged or perfect but rather, it has to be MEANINGFUL, EXCITING and FULL OF VIGOUR.

Basically, I want to be the one who determines how my life should be as I ride my own adventure. I like that empowerment to do as I please in my life. Which also explains why I'm rarely intimidated by anyone. In fact, the more any one tries to 'tie me up' or attempt to threaten me, the easier it gets for me to fight, say goodbye and walk the opposite direction. I'm an effin' rebel. Lol!

So I'm here to share with you the 5 BEST things that one should do while you're still in your 20s.

Its NOW or NEVER.

1) DATE, BREAK UP and DATE again til you find the imperfect person that suits you perfectly.

Why settle for less when you aren't sure about what you're getting into? You have a lifetime to live with that one person. So take your time, no pressure.

2) Dare to take CAREER RISKS.

Quit the job that doesn't satisfy your soul & pocket. Reach out for your goals and dreams. Keep trying (even after you've hit the big 30)! Don't settle for jobs that don't pay you well, mistreats you and doesn't care a hoot about your general success - especially if you aren't in your dream job! Be brave, take that leap and I'm sure you'll get there someday!

3) Do the SPORTS/ ACTIVITES that INTERESTS you.

And don't do it for the sake of exercising but just to have fun, really. Run around, do lots of active things with people who matter and spend all your energy like there's no tomorrow while you still can. If not now, then when? You'll never know what awaits you tomorrow. I'm not being negative, but shit happens ya know?

4) WARDROBE MAKEOVERS every now and then is a MUST!

Wanna wear skinny jeans? DO IT!
Wanna wear that little black dress? DO IT!
Introduce little fresh changes to your wardrobe every now and then, if you can afford to.
You won't really be wearing that skinny jeans and short skirts when you're in your 80s, will you? Well, actually I WOULD!! LOL. But I'm certainly gonna look rather different if I were to dress up when I'm 80 (if I ever live that long, that is haha).

5) Tick off at least 20-50 things in your bucket list.

That's about 2-5 things to achieve per year, depending on how much free time you have and how much money you have (since some activities like skydiving etc requires money). The more you do, the merrier. These will be your memories for keeps when you're older. And you can have new things to look forward to in your bucket list when you're older. Life's exciting that way.

Of course, now that I've said so much... you might wonder how much of the above have I actually done?
One and four are work-in-progress lol, bravely done two twice and attempted quite a bit of things for five (read here: 100 things to do before I expire )

The bummer might be no. three though. I don't really have the time to do sports or heavy activities but hey, at least I do ride on adult rollercoasters and other courage-badge-worthy rides every now & then. Okay, I guess I still have time to work on this since I've not hit the big 3-0 yet! :D

Survival Kit for Bitches

I wanted to name this post as "Survival Kit for Enemies" initially but upon second thought, I don't think if anyone in my life is worthy of the word "enemy" as yet. Potential, maybe. Lololol.

So.
Lets call this the 3 main acts that you should NEVER attempt to do if you wish to be safe from your own doomsday.

1) Never ever bitch behind my back, worst - let it get into my ears.

Actually, please go ahead and talk behind my back coz that's about as far as you can probably reach & adore - MY ASS. And I'm flattered to know that I'm always on your mind. :D

BUT if that crap you spew ever reaches my ears more than three times, then you're definitely up for a good show baby.

2) Never ever impose your wants/orders on me.

In another words, DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO unnecessarily.

Coz I take no orders from anyone except from my family, God and nice boss(es) if its for the good of myself & others lol.

3) Never ever try to put me down just to make yourself look good.

Honestly, I kinda like it actually because it only shows how insecure you are in front of others and how much you secretly admire my awesomeness.

BUT still... I forgot to tell you that I'm a ninja with Shuriken! Uh-oh.
(Shuriken refers to those throwing stars/darts used as a weapon by ninjas, fyi)

Have you been Swimming With Sharks?

I'm gonna get straight to the point and quickly share about two awesome shows which you should watch if you're in Singapore now. So you'd better READ this.

A few days ago, I was invited to watch the musical "Avenue Q" on its opening night at the Grand Theatre in Marina Bay Sands. Its fething funny I should say - for someone like me who ain't exactly into puppet musicals, Musicals yes, puppets no. But Avenue Q actually got me laughing hard a couple of times during the show because they were too funny & direct. For example, they were singing about how "Internet is for porn" and cracking some racism jokes - and a lot of other funny quirky scripts in between!

Here's the synopsis if you're interested:

"AVENUE Q is a laugh-out-loud musical that tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named PRINCETON who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. There, he meets KATE (the girl next door), ROD (the Republican), TREKKIE (the internet sexpert), LUCY THE SLUT (need we say more?), and other colorful types who help PRINCETON finally discover his purpose in life!"

Next, I'm gonna introduce an even more AWESOME play which I honestly think everyone should watch. It's got GOOD SCRIPT, FANTASTIC DIRECTION and a TALENTED CAST. No kidding. And I seldom praise local productions. So take this from me. :)

So last week on 22 September, I attended the Gala Night of Swimming With Sharks by Pangdemonium Productions. And I came out after the show feeling ~~mindfucked & evil~~ totally upbeat - it's like "WOWWWWW, I'm proud to say that we really do have talented people in the threatre arena in Singapore!! Pangdemonium rawks the socks off of its audience!"
(I don't even know where my socks went. Ok fine, not funny punny.)

In short, this is a story of a boss from hell (who never minces his words), an eager freshie who enters the workforce and gets bullied (and mindf*cked - which he eventually realizes) and a woman who holds it all in the game of power where the men are dominant & she has to hold her fort.

Think of Greed, Manipulation, Lust (or was it Love?), Deception, Mindf*ck & Play of Power.

It's satirical... dark.... humour.... is something you won't get in other plays. :)

Throughout the approx. 3 hours (with intermission in between), there was never a second where my mind was distracted (I"m someone whose thoughts will fly elsewhere if I'm watching anything that bores me). I was so focused on the story & script as each scene unfolded, keeping me on my toes as emotions got played, tickled by each of the one-liners that sunk deep into my bones, making me yearn for more up til the last second of the play - fething fantastic I tell you!!

Moreover, the storyline in Swimming With Sharks is definitely something which people can relate to - just think of how office politics occur in almost every workforce. No? What about bosses from hell? I'm sure some of you haveeeee!!! LOL. Yes, FYL! I know righttttt.

Its main casts played by Adrian Pang (as Buddy Ackerman), George Young (as Guy) and Janice Koh (as Dawn Lockard) - thumbs up for them!! Truly brilliant. And credit should go to the awesome direction of Tracie Pang as well, I'd say. Well done, Pangdemonium! :)

Even the rest of the casts of Swimming Of Sharks played by Crispian Chan, Shane Mardjuki, Daniel Jenkins, James Shubert and Melissa Faith Yeo added a fine touch to each scene with their individual roles. What more could I ask for?

Lots of our local celebrities were spotted at the reception after the play as well.

It's held in the Drama Centre at the National Library Building. In fact, this is gonna be its last week - ending on 7 October 2012. I must say that my days have been full of fun recently though and I've also been attending lots of parties & media launches, with the four most recent events being that of Hooked Magazine Launch at Bar Cocoon, The Forbidden City, Cosmopolitan First Anniversary Party at Pan Pacific Hotel (Mink), Esquire Launch Party at MAJ Aviation (General Aviation Centre) and Dockers launch media event at Bugis+ (where it unveiled the charming Max Loong as its first local ambassador in Singapore). That reminds me now - I NEED MORE CLOTHES!!!

So yes... I've been very busy indeed!

But in life, we must not be too busy til we forget the happiest moments of our life. And for me, I've always loved to preserve happy memories through messages, cards, photographs. memorabilia, souveniors and such. Especially photographs.. it's a MUST for every special moment!

Then I remembered that a friend of mine ever took this photo of me in my most natural happy self when we were on the merry-go-round at USS last year. (And have I not told you that I'm a big fan of merry-go-rounds?! It brings out the child in me, I guess. I don't know actually. Ok nvm.)

Now I've got one of my happiest moments well preserved in a jigsaw puzzled photo frame. How awesome is this!! :D

Movie Review: Brave (and the act-cute bitch in Vivocity GV Cinema)

Part I : BRAVE

Well, this ain't exactly a movie review but heyhey, I watched the movie "Brave" on Friday! I rarely have the time to relax at my own pace these days but I managed to do so on Friday. Had my meal and my favourite Sticky Chewy Chocolate ice cream at Earl Swensens, followed by a walk in Vivocity and finally a movie to rest my mind!

When my friend asked me "what do you wanna watch?", I quickly said "anything that doesn't require me to think! I just wanna watch something without thinking" and so he suggested "Brave".

Brave is about this girl called Merida, who is the headstrong daughter of King Fergus and Queen Elinor. Not forgetting that she has 3 cute baby brothers (triplets) whom I'd love to pinch. Although the movie is supposingly about "changing her destiny" and having to go against the age-old custom, I personally think that the story tells more about the unspoken close bond of a mother and daughter. There are plenty of touching scenes on both Merida and Queen Elinor, so yeah.. I think that was really nice. I almost teared at two scenes but nah, I held it in! :D

Anyways, Brave is by Walt Disney Pictures, Pixar Animation Studios and it is available in 2D and 3D.

Ratings: 3.5 out of 5

Not bad for an animation. I think I tend to look out for the storyline more than anything else. Oh yes, Brave has a tinge of humour too. It's quite funny, especially the scene where Merida's father (King Fergus) tries to imitate Merida while talking to his wife Queen Elinor - I giggled hard haha!!

So you should watch Brave if you're looking for the kind of movie that doesn't require you to think while watching! Its very enjoyable. :)

Part II

This is a dedication to the girl who half-watched "Brave" in ROW 2, Seat No. 13 in GV cinema at Vivocity (while her boyfriend was on seat no. 14). No prizes for guessing my seat no, lol!

Why do I say she HALF-WATCHED?

It's because she spent the other half of her time cringing at her boyfriend, covering her eyes with either her hands or her boyfriend's hands, shrieking in "fear" and acting all jelly. Woman, REALLY?

I've never seen anyone in my life who could ever be so afraid of animations. In fact, I don't buy that AT ALL. You were purely acting, I suppose? You thought that was cute? Omg....

*points my wand at you and makes you disappear!* ===> Haha this is cute, you are not.

Like seriously?!! She kept saying "I don't want to see! I'm scared!" and she fidgeted in her seat while cringing at her boyfriend as though some wicked witch was haunting her - when all Merida did was to walk into the woods and follow the wisps in the hope of finding something.

Just watch the trailer.
How could anything as animated as the above be so scary?? Its nowhere even close to scary!
The music wasn't even terrifying. Crazy woman... You thought behaving like that in the cinema is cute? Sorry bitch, its gross max. I really wonder what your boyfriend was thinking when you did that to him half the time in the cinema. "Bitch please, just STFU and let me watch the show can?!". Yeah, he prolly thought that.

No wait.
If I was a guy and had been her boyfriend, I would have shoved her head under the seat with my left hand and munch on popcorn with my right hand until the movie ends. Seriously, the poor dude had to keep pacifying her throughout the movie. Tsk tsk.

If she was watching a supernatural or a horror movie, I'll probably understand. But an animation that was so funny and touching?? And its not even some ghostly or horrific animation. Merida was so cute and the wisps were so frail-looking and small... even the woods weren't dark enough in the animation. What's there to be scared of?!!

So, act-cute bitch, if you're reading this...
Please learn to STFU in the cinema because your boyfriend is NOT the only person who could hear you.
You're scared of funny animations? Sure. Don't watch anything in the cinema then. Go home and play with your barbie dolls and continue to talk in an animated voice to the wall. Even the wall would crack at your voice and barbie dolls would pee in laughter because of your cranky behaviour.

Irritating.

Yes, that's a wet umbrella you see me holding in my hands.

It was raining pretty badly on Friday evening and I couldn't even leave my workplace without an umbrella nor grab a cab. The only umbrellas left in the office were the big long ones - which I'll never carry around when I'm well dressed UNLESS I need to save a live like Batman ~~or whack someone like Catwoman does~~. Gahahahaha! =P

Although the highlight of the movie should be Batman/ Bruce Wayne himself, I was pretty impressed with the Catwoman too. You go girl!

The "Catwoman" in the The Dark Knight Rises really whacked the balls out of her enemies in the movie. Also, Anne Hathaway looked awesomely hot as the "Catwoman" and ya know how it works when the girl's pretty and the men let down their guard? There's this funny scene where she cries hard like she's the victim in front of the police and then makes her escape. My friend and I couldn't stop giggling at that scene! :D

Back to my rain story

So, since the rain wouldn't stop, my always super nice colleague lent his mini umbrella to me when he saw me still lurking in the office like a mouse at 720pm+ (and I was supposed to collect my tix by 8pm!). Thank you TamTamz for saving the damsel in distress LOL. You know I super heart you for your kindness every time! :)

With his mini umbrella (which coincidentally matched the colour of my outfit), I walked out of my office to the bus stop like a national hero (remember, our Singapore flag is red & white + National Day is around the corner too? hahaha!).

Seeing that I wouldn't make it on time to Vivocity by 8pm, I got my friend J to collect the tix on my behalf since he had already reached first. Phew!

THE MOVIE TREAT

After taking a short walk around Vivocity, J and I finally checked into the cinema at 9pm and the lovely sponsors attended to us. Followed by a speech by Ms Linda (Marketing Manager of Domino's Pizza Singapore & Malaysia) to thank the guests and bloggers for our presence.

Nahhh, we should thank you too! :)

There wasn't much people yet. Movies never really start on time huh. J told me that commercials in the cinemas these days airs for 18 minutes - he actually counted lol! And he's right, because I counted too to counter check his claim! =D

Sorry, I don't have much pictures as my hp batt went flat even before the movie began. Whatever pics that were taken in the cinema were from my friend's hp actually.

Just because my hp is flat doesn't mean that I didn't take camwhore pictures though.

J to the rescue yo! Lolololol.

But because my friend is shy and I always respect my friends' privacy,

don't blame me for not sharing any of those pics.

So here's my take:

The main cast: Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Liam Neeson

Movie Ratings: 9 out of 10

My butt hurt because the movie was almost 3 hours long! OMG.

Personally, that's too long for me. I really liked the movie, the visuals, the content and everything, but it's just that, I dislike sitting for too long without moving about lol.

The story line was pretty good but perhaps they could have omitted some scenes out to make the movie slightly shorter. It was a little draggy in the middle, leaving the audience hanging until the very last part of the show - well that's where it got really exciting though and I liked that!

Visuals were awesome too and I liked the fact that they incorporated "Catwoman" into the movie - she was such a kickass. The main villain, Bane (played by Tom Hardy) was kinda cool too - he's like really evil and all - and there's a slight twist to the plot in the end (won't say it here and spoil it for you). My friend J says that he likes the way Bane talks - sadistic - and I'm like huhhh whattt?!!

Ya, weird friends I have sometimes. *facepalm*

Played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He's a firm believer of Batman and throughout the movie, Blake keeps things going even when everything around him looked bleak. He is kind and helps others too. He portrayed this "Never Give Up" spirit and I like that attitude! And he's rather cute (yea I'm repeating). :P

I think Kristen Stewart has a weird taste.
Ok I know this sounds rather mean but.. erm... I really don't think if both of them are particularly THAT dashing?? But perhaps, Robert is a little cute. Just a little. But still, not quite my cuppa tea.

On closer look, I think both Robert and Rupert bears a little resemblance. Both are pale-looking and have this "yeah I know right" smug face. Don't you think so?

Look, even their names start with an 'R'. Maybe that's why Kristen likes both.

Btw sorry, sidetrack, but I noted that Robert has a slightly hairy chest in that picture above.

In the past, I would have thought of it as something disgusting but now, I beg to differ. Not because its Robert Pattinson. LOL nvm.
