Do I Look Pregnant? Don't Answer that!

Hello? Anybody there?

Warning: This article is the ramblings of a woman under coffee coma. If you don't like muffin or loathe the word skinny, run away as fast as you can. If you love humor (at this woman's expense) then READ ON.

Not too long ago, I made a disconcerting decision to look at myself in the mirror, LIKE REALLY LOOK! I was probably naked. I tend to develop amnesia with things that shocks me. Though I remember, I started with a squint then bravely opened my eyes wide open, trying forcefully to not blink! If you were me, you'd be scared too and probably screamed! I did not scream. But what I saw in that reflection was one of those moments where you simply have to drop the "Whadda FFFF" expletive. Tracy Beckerman of Lost in Suburbia came to mind, not because she's a potty-mouth, though I'm sure she is sometimes, but rather specifically, of that chapter in her book where she mentioned "WIDE LOAD".

Reading about that was funny. Seeing my reflection and needing that banner plastered across me isn't funny.

Man, I was huge in every "Filipino standards" way. This explains why my mom kept nagging me about losing weight and losing the belly everytime she sees me and it confuses me! Back in the days, when I was thin, like size double 00 thin (see picture), she would bug me to no end to eat more to gain weight! Now that I've GAINED the weight, she wants me to lose it! Why can't she make up her mind already?!

Mothers are confusing. My mother is confusing. And no. My belly is not big.

The mirror lies. I simply just look like I swallowed...a melon perhaps? Noooo...who am I kidding? I'm big and wide and I look pregnant! And looking pregnant when you're NOT, is like having a total nightmare turning into reality while you're wide awake! Doesn't seem possible but that mirror don't lie! Talk about a Freddy Kruger moment.

4 months preggers and still skinny - Where did all this skinny-ness go?

I confess at my age, so not telling you my age, but I will tell you that I, at my age, still long to get preggers. Yes I do! What's wrong with you? I'm sure it's not for everyone. But if you're like Sarah who got pregnant at age 90 then you're still right up the preggers-alley! If she can, I can too right? Considering I've only got one child, I think I can handle another one. If only my (almost rotten) eggs will give its last epic hurrah before they vanish to menopauseland, and grant me another poopy-drooling-monstrously-hungry-every-two-hours-baby. Then I'm cool with THIS unpregnant-pregnant-looking-belly if it will house another baby!

BUT NOT! Looking preggers is utterly not the same as looking preggers and REALLY preggers! I should have been more specific when I threw that wish out into the universe. I think the kitchen heard me loud and clear but made the baby-granting gods go deaf trying to understand what I was mumbling about in between gobbles of food in my mouth! What can I say? Food is good. Organic yo!

Some organic belly alright! I should have known that when it was getting harder to see that place where you pee out from, and needed to shave it, because that is what cool chicks do! - and you have to literally lift some extra skin out of the way so you can see what's down below... I should have seen the signs... Well, I was kind of busy trying to maneuver the muffin top to see beyond it to see anything else for crying out loud!

Crazy thing about this is that it makes you act like you're pregnant. That time when you don't want other people to know that you are pregnant. YOU HIDE THE BELLY! But more so, when you look pregnant and not pregnant at all! YOU HIDE IT FOREVER. And you'll agree that it is a necessity. You wouldn't want to find yourself wearing an orange jumpsuit and lock up somewhere for strangling up tons of people, mostly strangers, who can't ~~keep their mouth shut~~ stop asking you "Are you pregnant? When are you due?"

I know a lot of women can relate to my muffin. Real women have them. I call it "The curse of the c-section". It kills off the muscles around the cut section which creates the flap! The evil flap. Then Motherhood adds insult to injury by making you gain weight - gotta keep up with the every 2 hour demand ya know - and before you know it, you're sporting the infamous muffin top! Which by the way, keeps growing. You'd think you're eating Miracle Gro!

I don't even love muffin.

Now before you hurl rotten tomatoes at me for speaking the unspeakable truth, I want you to know, I'm actually doing something to vanish the unpregnant-pregnant-looking-belly. Yes something. Although, I don't understand why I had to wait years to REALLY do something. Call me lazy, maybe. A little drastic but not totally automatic. It's a slow process (and slow progress - age, really?) but I'm hoping that finally facing my muffin and not hiding it (pretty well) will give me some sense of triumph!

It's working! Muffin top is shrinking as I speak. I might let you in on my secret one of these days. That is if, I'm successful. I was not called "stick thin" for nothing. I'm going to get "stick thin" back...or something.

Taste- it reminds me of a chocolate-flavored soymilk that is a regular product inside my fridge. If you are not used to drinking soymilk, or any soy-based blended drinks, you may not immediately take a liking to its taste. But it's always worth a try!

Texture - there was some grittiness to it but not a lot to bother me.

Flavor - the chocolate was very distinct with the Acai berry as a subtle undertone.

Life Under the Sea Comes Alive at Georgia Aquarium

The World of Coca-Cola was our second major destination during our Atlanta visit, followed by our last destination - Georgia Aquarium, which is deemed the world's largest aquarium in the world, boasting of 600,000 square footage, it literally gives one a very close look in to the abysmal kingdom of fascinating creatures that lives under the sea. A rare glimpse that continue to amaze anyone who visits the attraction and gives one that feeling of wanting to go back to it over and over again. You can't help but be spellbound!

The same potent "spell" casted upon my daughter, who immediately fell in love with the Beluga whales. A love at first sight. "They are very sweet and have a playful personality and they're white!" she squealed delightfully when asked what her favorite animal in the entire facility was.

Needless to say, we spent a chunk of our time gazing, watching and admiring the Beluga whales with her during our first visit at the aquarium and it's all worth it!

The Exhibits

There are five (5) main exhibits featuring different themes and displays of diverse creatures from all over the world including the local inhabitants native to Georgia.

Ocean Voyager - Is the crowd's favorite. It was the first exhibit we opted to see. This is where you'll find the acrylic tunnel where you can opt to walk, ride the moving ramp, or take your time and stand in front of the acrylic viewing window and be mesmerized by thousands of fish, including whale sharks, mantas and huge Goliath Grouper fishes swimming above and around you. Simply a delight to see!
Coldwater Quest - My daughter's favorite exhibit. This is where the Beluga Whales are displayed along with the weedy Sea Dragon, giant Japanese Spider Crabs and penguins!
River Scout - I love looking at the overhead river in this exhibit. It features river animals found in Africa, South America, Asia and in Georgia. Make sure to check the Piranhas and white alligators!
Tropical Diver - A great display of a live coral reef and the colorful creatures that thrive in this environment.
Georgia Explorer - Young ones and young-once get lots of fun in the touch pools full of horseshoe crabs, sea stars and rays.

Highlights

Dolphin Tales - is one of the main shows included in the general admission ticket. A must-see if you have kids with you. It's a musical offering that would have been more entertaining if the dolphins were given more parts to perform in the show and less singing from actor/singer playing the lead role. Overall, it's still worth the see when you're done exploring the other exhibits.

Deepo's Undersea 3D Wondershow - Kids are always tickled with the interactive effect of this show. It's a great option for entertaining restless and bored kids. Even adults appreciates this show. It has a lesson that viewers young and old will truly appreciate.

Cafe Aquaria Food Court - We adored the way the food court is set up and the food choices are impressive. Even my vegetarian hubby was able to find a meal that he can eat and enjoy! I do commend the aquarium for the wide food varieties they have to satisfy their hungry customers.

Useful Tip:
If you love the Beluga Whales just like my daughter, go to the Ocean's Ballroom located above the Food Court. There is a viewing area there for both the Beluga whales aquarium and the Ocean Voyagers' on the other side of the room. The room is relatively empty and you get an unobstructed view of both the aquarium. Best of all, it's quiet. Great place to chill and relax away from the hustle and bustle inside the crowded aquarium.

During this visit the whale slide above the Georgia Explorer was close for renovation.

Afterthought

This is our first visit to the Aquarium and reminded me of the aquarium I visited in Singapore, the Underwater World, who also boast of an acrylic viewing tunnel. Georgia Aquarium definitely lives up to it's title as the largest aquarium in the world. There's a lot to see and it have a lot to offer to families and their children to enjoy! Definitely a great vacation destination during the Summer or anytime of the year!

Georgia Aquarium was our last stop in our Atlanta Road Trip. We can't wait to come back and revisit all the wonderful attractions they have to offer visitors like us! Great road trip!

The World Inside CNN Center Atlanta

After our fun adventure at the World of Coca- Cola and brief detour to Centennial Olympic Park, Thanks for "walking" with us, we detoured next towards CNN Center, which was just across the street from the Park. The Center was packed with athletes! It was at the height of the NCAA competition and the place was abuzz with lots of actions and activities from delegates from all over the country. So crowded, even the Studio tour that day was ALL SOLD OUT and we didn't get in! Boo! But there was enough to see inside the center to while our time away and we continued to explore...the gift shop!

The first thing that will catch your eyes upon entry is the big globe overhead and the parade of flags from all over the world hanging decoratively around the interior of the building's main lobby. As you may have guessed, my first instinct was of course, to find my birth country's flag, The Philippines. It took a while but I did find it!

The inside of CNN looks like a mini-shopping center dolled up with boutiques and a food court vended by your well-known fast food restaurants to satisfy any hungry visitor wanting to get a quick bite before rushing off to another attraction! It's a great option to stop to if you're ever near the vicinity. As for us, we may be lucky on our next visit and get to do the Studio tour.

Most people produce that natural enzyme, lactase, which breaks down lactose (sugar in milk). The amount of lactase your body produces will determine how much lactose your body can break down
Everyone has different levels of lactose intolerance
It is common for lactose intolerance to be progressive; many people develop a lactose intolerance later in life

Tips for eating with Lactose Intolerance:

Important note: if someone who is lactose intolerant consumes products containing lactose on an empty stomach, they will be more prone not to tolerate it. Eating lactose with other food will help you digest it more easily
Many lactose-intolerant people find that yogurt doesn’t bother them
Yogurt has live and active cultures in it that help digest the lactose
Greek yogurt has double the protein and fewer carbs, which means less lactose and easier to digest
If tolerated, yogurt is a great way to get nutrients and calcium needed in an everyday diet!
Rule of thumb for eating cheese: the harder the cheese, the less moisture or whey in it—as a result, the less lactose in it
Always choose the aged cheeses, as they are lower in lactose
Aged Cheddar, Gruyère, Pecorino and Swiss cheeses will have less lactose in them
Melissa suggests introducing these aged cheeses back into your family’s diets in small amounts to see how much they and/or you are able to tolerate

Britax Opened Its Doors To A New Location in SC

And I was there to see it! Indeed, Britax found a new home just across the border. A hop away from NC, their former home. Their new facility looked very impressive and their presence in SC will certainly mean jobs and definitely a needed lift to South Carolina's economy. I'm sure Charlotte felt a loss when they left its boundary but Britax needed more room to grow and South Carolina have the space they needed.

The Tour

One of the areas we were allowed to see was the assembly department where hard at work workers were putting car seats together...get this...with their hands! Just seeing that made me appreciate the car seats a lot more, right there and then! In this day and age, I wouldn't have been surprised if they were assembled by robotic machines but no, human hands actually does! Now that's impressive!

According to Jim Ingram, Director of Operations, "Each of these car seats you [guests] see are assembled by hands by our staffs and each part is quality-checked to ensure defective or questionable ones are immediately removed or set aside in those big white boxes set at each line".

And when I asked him further where their parts are made, He responded, "Some of our parts are made in the US and some overseas."

We also got to see an actual Crash test in their lab but pictures and videos were not allowed. But what I can tell you is that it is very eye-opening and very impressive and I'm so glad that they are constantly improving their car seat's safety capability using high-tech equipment. For someone like me who have been in a car accident years ago when my daughter was young and sat in a carseat at the backseat when it occurred, seeing the test was an oxymoron for nostalgia, fear and at the same time, comfort.

Comfort in the knowledge that newer car seats are better equipped for safety.

Shake it Up shook my daughter's world, in a good way, thank goodness, the moment she laid eyes on the show for the first time. What truly captivated her, besides being enamored with Bella Thorne and Zendaya, was the musical side of the show. She is, after all a music lover, and that side of the show was very attractive to her.

Let's just say, part of her growing up years was filled with Shake it Up music. And seeing the cast perform in real life in California was just the ultimate icing to the cake! So you see, there was no way I can say "no" to the possibility of getting my hands on the show's current soundtrack: Shake it Up: I heart Dance music CD. Besides, I don't want the "wrath" of a miffed 9 year old fan if she found out I turned the chance down. So, No. No way Jose! I got the CD. Yay!

The Music

"I love ALL of them!" is what my daughter's ultimate opinion on the soundtrack. A very telling indication that anyone of her age, or not, and either love the show, or not, will appreciate the dance-able music of this soundtrack. I may or may have danced along with it while it played.

We're dancing performed by Bridgit Mendler, Sharp as a Razor by McClain Sisters and Shake it Up theme song performed by Selena Gomez was one of her top favorites and got her really wired up into dancing. I almost didn't see the end of her playing the CD over and over. Talk about earworms!

But definitely, another hit by Walt Disney Records! Soundtrack is currently available for $9.99 on both iTunes and Amazon.com.

Recommendation:
I can see the music CD as a great gift, or simply a token of your appreciation, for anyone young, or young at heart, who loves dance-able types of music and sang by today's up and coming rising stars, of whom have also become common household names across the country! I can't see any girl not liking this CD. It's worth a buy. Just ask my daughter!

"Shake It Up" is the #1 live-action TV series in its time period among Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11. The show chronicles the adventures of best friends CeCe (Bella Thorne) and Rocky (Zendaya), whose dreams of becoming professional dancers are realized when they land roles as background dancers on the most popular teen dance show, "Shake It Up, Chicago!"

The Queen City Mom Prom A Night One Never Forgets

Pretty little, not necessarily black dresses, and fancy long gowns are not just the sight you will see at the 2nd Annual Queen City Mom Prom. Rather you would see fabulously-clad and made-up Moms stylishly strutting in their equally fabulous high heels ready to party and have a grand time. It's definitely not your typical highschool Prom. Not even close. These women come together, not just to party but ideally to support, recognize and fight! Yes fight. Fight that which is pediatric cancer. And in the forefront of this event is, Toyota.

According to Mike Arning, Event Head Media Relations, "Toyota helped Queen City Mom Prom's success this year as being the major sponsor, which enabled them [QCMP] to host 325 women in a sold-out ticket event!". And added, "This is a great change from last year where QCMP wasn't able to sell all their tickets."

I have always admired Toyota's philanthropic works. Being part of their now defunct TWIN [Toyota Women Influencers Network], I had come to know Toyota's core beliefs and their Kaizen philosophy. It's no surprise to see them supporting a cause like QCMP. Working on several philanthropic missions myself, I didn't think twice when I was asked to cover their event in their behalf. It's one of those things you just gotta have to go, see and experience! -- Even when I heard myself saying, "Uh-oh! Not a Prom." And the thought of dressing up and wearing heels literally gave me a nightmare!

Event Highlights

Recognition of 5 Prom Queens was the ultimate culmination of the night -- 5 Moms whose children have battled or are battling cancer. As each moms are called up to the stage, last year's Prom Queen honors the new inductees with an orange sash while the recipient's photos played in a slideshow. If I tell you that there was none who did not shed a tear that moment, believe it. It was a moment of tears, sad tears and happy tears.

Each story gets ingrained not only in your mind but in your heart. As a mom, these are hard facts that you wish it never or doesn't happen but it's always a comfort to know that there are other moms out there helping you fight the fight.

And where there is sadness there is happiness. And hope...

And then of course, what's a prom without dancing, kick-off-your-shoes, let-loose-and-just-party party? Yes! You got it! And busting it out on the dance floor with your bare feet is highly encouraged too! Booyah!

Afterthought

Though I was more of an spectator rather than a participant of the event, it was inspiring to see how the whole event played out in front of my eyes. And though the only not-so-pleasant experience is to be told so many times by the event's frantic and overly-hyper photographer to move out of her way while I was taking official shots to cover the event in behalf of Toyota at the same time, everything else was well. I may come back as an attendee next year and round up my mom gang!

My experience may as well be different. We'll see.

Molto Delizioso Cibo at OGGI Charlotte

Appetizer -- Boconccino

Finding the winning restaurant that hits the right taste in your palate is like finding a needle in a haystack. Complicate that with someone who grew up in a household that cooks meals the traditional way, then it gets a lot more challenging. But when you do find it, you know it's very rewarding and you've found a keeper!

This is the experience my family and I had at OGGI Charlotte. An Italian restaurant that wowed us at first bite! For a while now, we have been searching for a great Italian restaurant that is cut above the usual, pseudo-Italian restaurants that we've come to know commonly, of which none of them had truly captured our palate's loyalty -- especially my husband who grew up in an Italian household and were fed traditional Italian dishes! See the challenge here?

But OGGI won us over! From appetizer to main Entree to dessert -- we may have found the best Italian restaurant in Charlotte by far!

THE FOOD

Bocconccino {Appetizer pictured above} - A Risotto Croquettes that even my sometimes-picky child gave a thumbs up to! Now that is saying a lot! Croquettes are crunchy outside and creamy inside. Yum!

Pollo Scapariello {Chef's special} - My pick. I fell in love with the spaghetti! So garlic-y, just the way I like it, with clean, flavorful taste. A great match to my chicken entree!

Agnolotti Alla Panna - Hubby's pick. A vegetarian option. It's a ravioli filled with spinach and ricotta cheese served in a creamy Alfredo sauce. Hubby apparently loved it just by how fast the food disappeared from his plate!

Pollo Rosso Verde - Ashley's pick. A chicken entree with artichokes and roasted red peppers in a port wine sauce, partnered with mashed sweet potato! If the vegetarian hubby finished off his food in record-speed, she was right there with him at the finish line!

Penne Bella Napoli - My daughter's pick. Simple ingredients of tomatoes, basil and melted mozzarella cheese fit for a child who love pasta! According to her it was delish! and she liked it.

Now of course, we can't forget the DESSERT. Our top pick. Cannoli and Tiramisu! You don't need to know how fast they were devoured. All you need to know is that they were very YUMMY!

If you're in the hunt for an Italian restaurant in Charlotte, try OGGI. They're brand-spanking-new but their style is classic! You may say the same thing after one visit. "It's a keeper for sure!"

Busy Burning my Hands...Creatively...over Cat-Themed Birthday Party Crafts { With Tutorial }

Didn't the week just flew by like a blur? Well, while you are enjoying your week, enjoying all these glorious, sunshine-y day {filled with pollen unfortunately}, walking your dog and having a blast at your child's soccer game or dance recitals, I, on the other hand got stuck with a glue gun -- who like a sadist, burned my fingers, not just once but enough times that I may have screamed "bloody hell" and bleep, bleeped here and there at it quite a few times! And all these? For the love of Cats! Oh ya. The price I pay for being crafty!

The culprit for my Ouchies?! An 8 year old who recently turned 9 and wanted a Cat-themed birthday party. Yeah that.

My hairs may have turned gray-er this past week too. "Thank God for hair colors!" I may need one REAL soon. But before I do the do, here are what I creatively crafted for the girl's big B-day!

Cute huh?! Yes they are! They better be. They cost me a few burnt fingers after all. And yes, I know you are thinking "How do I make these cuties?" right now. They're actually very simple -- besides burning your fingers while making them -- putting them together is super-easy!

Materials needed:

Treat Bags ( or sack bags)
Colored Construction papers
Pom-poms or Cotton balls
Chenille Pipe cleaners
Wiggle eyes
Glue sticks for glue gun
Glue guns

Instructions:

Whiskers: Cut pipe cleaners into approx. 3 inches in length -- 6 pcs for each treat bags.
Ears: Cut identical-sized elongated triangles -- 2 pcs.

Arrange all materials on "face" of treat bag to guide you where to glue them on. 2 cotton balls for the snout, one small pom-pom for nose and 2 wiggle eyes for its eyes. Glue the whiskers first, followed by the cotton balls, the wiggle eyes and then the ears. If you want to be cute-r, you can add a tail on the back side of the bag.

CAT-FACE DECOR

Create added cuteness to your entire ensemble by adding focal Cat decor around your "party room" by spreading adorable CAT FACES everywhere, even on top of your cupcake holder!

Materials:
Wiggly eyes
Colored Construction papers
Heart foam stickers
Glue gel stick
Medium-sized plate or round to-go-box cover
Glue stick for glue gun
Glue gun

Here's how you do it:
Trace a round shape on preferred colored-construction paper and cut. You can use a plate or in my case, used a to-go-box cover to form the circular shape that serves as the face. Cut thin strips of construction paper for the whiskers in contrasting color. Cut 2 sets of different-sized triangle for the ears in different colors. Arrange the whiskers and hold it in place with the heart-shaped foam sticker. Attach wiggle eyes with glue gun. Paste the assembled ears approximately 3 inches apart from top of head and you're done!

Decor suggestions: You can create banners using the cat faces and stringing them in yarn. Accessorize the cat faces with "chain" streamers.

AND WHAT'S A CAT WITHOUT A MOUSE?

The MICE PATROL

Save those plastic eggs from your Easter egg-hunt and recycle them into mice! Just glue wiggly eyes, whiskers, pom-poms for nose and feet and a strip of coiled paper for tail, 2 triangles for ears, then you're set!

Note: Place them strategically around the room -- if you know what I mean. You don't want them Cats going wild during the party!

Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park

And we continue to explore...After our fizzytastic and soda-mizing visit at World of Coca-Cola Museum, and with plenty of time left to chill, we decided to be adventurous, just like what smart travelers usually do, and took a little exploratory walk at the park which was just across the street -- Centennial Olympic Park. Unfortunately, the whole section of the Great Lawn was closed off to the public. Knowing us, we found a way, literally, to enjoy a walk along the Reflecting pool and marveled at the gigantic "torches" {Hermes Towers} that surrounds the Fountain of Rings, this, as we enjoyed a cup of Italian ice while attempting to hide under the shade of a tree, away from the simmering Atlanta heat!

The park is vast and historical that it is heartwarming to have that chance to see and be at the site that once hosted the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games and experience a piece of that history! Though it was a regular Saturday at the park when we were there and not much going on, it was unmistakably teeming with life and action from delegates of the NCAA March Madness competition, who were all over the park either rehearsing, cheering, relaxing or simply walking around like what normal tourists do -- checking out the place just as we!

To explore further, the park is also walking distance to some other attractions like the Georgia Dome and just right across the street is the CNN Center -- and our next detour. Walk along with us to the next post... Yes, this way please...

Discovering The World of Coca-Cola

As mentioned previously, the first leg of our journey in Atlanta commenced at Legoland Discovery Center {see the cute map below post}. This time, we're headed to the fizzylicious and pop-tacular World of Coca-Cola! Find out if I was able to drink all 60 different beverages at the Taste It! station and how I reacted to some of it -- more like see how my facial muscles contorted into different expressions! You might just like this one.

First Time Appeal
The first thing you will notice upon approach is the gigantic bottle of Coke in a transparent encasement towering above the museum and the dominant statue of Atlanta pharmacist, Dr. John S. Pemberton, who invented the famous drink, welcoming visitors to the exhibit. And of course, it's hard not to miss the long lines snaking inside the building! Just as to be expected out of a popular attraction.

The Fizz and Pop

What immediately gets you upon entry to the lobby is the focal art in the middle of the room featuring a visually appealing canvas in the shape of Coca-Cola's famous bottles. Then you're whisked away into the Loft to travel back in the past with an entertaining Ambassador before you are sent to the Happiness Factory™ Theater to watch a fun 3D presentation which almost reminded me of Loraxx! From there, you're basically set free to discover the rest of the exhibits on your own pace and style of approach. Exhibits are spread on two levels and are mostly self-guided tours.

Lowdown on the Highlights

The Vault of the Secret Formula, Milestones of Refreshment and Bottle works, personally, was not that exciting but it was neat to see collectibles, the kind of evolution Coca-Cola went through over the years and the on-site bottling of the drink. Not entirely appealing to a younger audience but certainly interesting to those who grew up with the product and or huge fans!

Gotta love the face! Yeah. Go ahead and laugh!

We had a blast at the Taste It! experience where my taste buds literally burst and somersaulted from the different flavors it had to process. And yep! If you must know, I went through all 60 flavors successfully! My secret? small sips! There are five tasting stations arranged geographically {Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, North America} and a sixth station dedicated solely to Coca-Cola brands. You have to be very creative if you want to get through all the stations sans soda'd-out-tummy and a tummy ache!

Flavors to watch out for:

Africa: Spar-Berry - very bitter
Asia : Crush - very tangy
Europe: Beverly (Italy) - very bitter
Latin America: Ciel Aquarius - very neutral. Almost taste like Hibiscus refresher

From here, the tour exits at the store! But before you finally exit, you are afforded one commemorative bottle of Coke bottled in the facility as a souvenir. Now, the second level also houses two additional theaters but we decided not to visit in place of going to the very crowded tasting station and spending more time there and fighting our way to the dispensers!

Recommendations

World of Coca-Cola is a great family travel destination for those looking for something fun, unique and highly interactive and informative for the young ones as well. It almost felt like a mini-park complete with a Character greeting feature. The Polar bear looks cute and comical at times but it was funny that its mere appearance brought fear on some of the young children and even some adults in attendance! Could be its size. Nonetheless, he was a great addition to the appeal of the entire museum. The attraction is unmistakably a must-see! Even for those who are a big fan of the other drink! It's a great reason to go on a road trip!

Recycled Fashion Finds at World of Coca-Cola Store

I don't have to tell you that I'm a big fan of things that are unique, creative and downright crafty, as I, but yes, I do dig them and can't help swooning at the mere sight of an item that meets my creative taste. I mostly admire the recycled, upcycled or D.I.Y. creations that spells AWESOME! Awesome like these...

Would love to own one of these though. It makes for a great fashion statement and soooo me! -- Unique and creative! Stay Creative!

Travel Destination: Legoland Discovery Center Atlanta

Spring break have given us a welcomed opportunity to heed the call of travel. A natural inclination for my traveler family. Our adventure destination? Atlanta! We've never set foot on downtown Atlanta rather just around its perimeter, which is why we have planned to go for years. Unfortunately, our initial attempt failed earlier this year, but our big break finally came! And great timing too -- we're celebrating a Royal {pain - joke} birthday! So, HELLO Road Trip!

Our itinerary included the famous attractions in Atlanta: World of Coca-Cola, Georgia Aquarium, CNN Center, Centennial Olympic Park and our first stop, Legoland Discovery Center.

Legoland was a birthday surprise. But we were the one who got surprised! Yes, surprise-ingly lost! We did see the sign on the mall's entrance on the approach but that was pretty much it. "Sign people. Signs!" Mr. Zensible Mama griped as he maneuver his way around the mall losing zen by the minute. At this point, my head is almost spinning as we literally were doing "tour de Mall". Imagine stars and birds hovering around my head every time he turns a corner.

Squeals of delight turned into sighs of confusion and mutters of frustration. After a literally endless Nascar-like laps around the mall, we finally found the hidden gem. And hidden was right! Legoland Discovery Center is tucked-in inside at the very far end of Phipps Plaza. We discovered this in our dazed haste to find it within the parking deck! Nice.

Sign Fail

Would it hurt to put signs up? It was amazing NOT finding one that points where to turn or where to go. Tourists and first-timers like us are sure to get lost as we obviously did. Even our GPS was lost. "It's Legoland not treasure hunt Lego peeps!"

The Attraction

It is comparably small and felt rather cramped. My initial expectation was that it would be of a Park-like setting. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The center shares a space in the mall which could be a factor to its limited capacity. It almost seem like they tried to fit everything in and ended up a bit claustrophobic. And with the influx of screaming kids and parents running around crazy, the place can get overly crowded beyond one's liking.

The experience

From the ticketing gate, you will be momentarily held in a waiting room until the yellow doors open into a "welcome" lobby heading to the main hall. On the left, is the Kingdom Quest ride, which I personally enjoyed -- only because I scored double what my two sidekicks got -- and I got to use a laser gun and shoot aliens! Yeah! Suckers...

Towards the right is the Miniland where an interactive lego mini-structures of iconic landmark buildings and attractions in Atlanta is displayed. The room is programmed to go "dark" on intervals to showcase the exhibit's lighting effects which does look pretty cool. Some of the displays needed a bit of attention and upkeep but overall it was a work of art!

Inside the main hall, you'll find the Merlin's Appentice ride, the cafe, the 4D Theatre -- we saw Racer which was not bad -- and the rest of the attraction, then it exits towards the store which was uncannily not fully stocked and similarly small likewise.

Yeah. I just had to! It was bound to happen.

Recommendations

For the price we paid, it almost wasn't worth it but it can be a good option for a last-alternative destination for when your young kids are bored out of their wits and needed to let out some of that pent-up energy or they simply just love Lego and you really, really must go and be in it! To us, it was more or less a getting-to-know-the-place experience. It was ok but will we go back? Probably not. But we might go visit the store if we're in the area again. And the activity pack, don't buy it unless you must have a yellow lanyard bling on your neck. There really wasn't much in it that is exciting besides the stamp collecting. Save your bucks if you can. 90% of the parents I saw there were wearing it around their necks and none of their kids ever used it. My daughter herself didn't even fully utilize hers and ended up on Mr. Zensible Mama's neck! Souvenir? perhaps.

"But we still love you Lego. Nothing will change that. If you must know, we got ourselves Lego keychains. R2D2 for me. Princess for the daughter and Sensei Wu for the hubby. You should be proud of us!"

Disney Pixar’s Finding Dory is still Swimming and Diving!

BURBANK, Calif. – When Dory said “just keep swimming” in 2003’s Oscar®-winning film “Finding Nemo,” she could not have imagined what was in store for her (not that she could remember). Ellen DeGeneres, voice of the friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish, revealed details today about Disney•Pixar’s “Finding Dory”—an all-new big-screen adventure diving into theaters on Nov. 25, 2015.

“I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time,” said DeGeneres. “I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating ‘Toy Story 16.’ But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is—it’s got a lot more Dory.”

Director and Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton takes audiences back to the extraordinary underwater world created in the original film. “There is no Dory without Ellen,” said Stanton. “She won the hearts of moviegoers all over the world—not to mention our team here at Pixar. One thing we couldn’t stop thinking about was why she was all alone in the ocean on the day she met Marlin. In ‘Finding Dory,’ she will be reunited with her loved ones, learning a few things about the meaning of family along the way.”

According to Stanton, “Finding Dory” takes place about a year after the first film, and features returning favorites Marlin, Nemo and the Tank Gang, among others. Set in part along the California coastline, the story also welcomes a host of new characters, including a few who will prove to be a very important part of Dory’s life.

“Finding Nemo” won the 2003 Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature; the film was nominated for three additional Oscars® (Best Writing, Original Screenplay; Best Music, Original Score; Best Sound Editing). It was also nominated for a Golden Globe® Award for Best Motion Picture–Comedy or Musical. In 2008, the American Film Institute named “Finding Nemo” among the top 10 greatest animated films ever made. At the time of its release, “Finding Nemo” was the highest grossing G-rated movie of all time. It’s currently the fourth highest grossing animated film worldwide. One thing I love about traveling is the almost ritualistic pilgrim to the Souvenir shops where you find either the oddest schtuffs or the funniest items on sale! There is always something there that gets you buying, or for the more frugal, looking. Our recent visit to a Souvenir shop in Downtown Atlanta definitely lived up to this famed reputation.
