English Comedy Gets Better and Better

Comedy in Stockholm has been doing great lately, Laughs At The Liffey has had 3 good weeks now and last week we really hit the mark with our formula, just the right amount of comedians, right time, good host, it all came together for a great night. One thing we do which I love is to do short shows, we dont go for longer than 90 mins and have a short pause in the middle so audiences arnt sitting there forever and getting bored.

It is really nice to see Swedish comedians performing English, for many it is their first time. Its a risk for the performer, to go away from their comfort zone but thats what comedy is about and I think thats what the audience really likes, its the risk, the effort, the genuineness that someone is up there trying hard in something new and also doing it well! It makes for some really good evenings. Then I come on and do fart jokes to balance it all out.

Opener For Ben Kersleys 110% Lagom Show In Stockholm

On sunday night I had the pleasure of doing an opening set for the very funny show by Ben Kersley, "110% Lagom" about his experiences as an Englishman in coming to Sweden. I took the opportunity to try something I havnt really* done before, talk Swedish on stage. I enjoyed the challenge, hey its not as hard as it sounds, its not like a discussion, its just like learning a script but I think the audience enjoyed that I put myself out there.

This is a huge week, today i am off with two great Swedish comedians, Henrik Elmer and Johan Ranner and we are off to Malmö to do 3 shows in 2 nights! Rockin! Then on Thursday we drive back to Stockholm and its time for another Laughs At The Liffey! It is all happening here. Do take the time to watch the trailer for the upcoming movie produced by Henrik Elmer, it is hilarious.

Laughs At The Liffey - Standup Comedy in English in Stockholm

Good news everyone! Myself and an Irish guy Pete are opening Stockholm's first all English Standup Club! This is a pretty big thing for us, its a place where we get back to the roots of comedy, its centered around Standup but anything goes, if it makes you laugh then it is comedy!

We are doing this not only for the growing number of international comedians in Sweden but also for Swedish comedians who want to improve their English routines before they hit the big time overseas.

The premiere is October 8th and we run every Thursday at The Liffey Irish Bar and Restaurant down in Gamla Stan. I am really stoked about the opening night lineup, a great combination of international and Swedish performers, including some big names and up and commers

Hi Everyone! It has been some time since I wrote something meaningful here, rather with my lack of crazy travel adventures I thought to entertain you with the videos I have been making instead. Still, as you can see I have been doing stand up of late and it has got me thinking about...well.. writing again. This isn't improv, you have to think up funny stuff first and then say it on stage at some time later. Sometimes you even say the same thing multiple nights, whoa that's kind of a weird thing for an improver.

While I am a stationary creature of late, I have a few trips planned in the future which id like to share with you. In the meantime, if you like my style of crazy travel stories, you will love this guy, his name is Francis Tapon and I met him on his latest trip to Estonia last year. He is a super cool guy who is documenting his journeys through Eastern Europe really well and putting them into his next book. I just read the first few chapters of the book and I love it and I think if you love travel stories mixed with a bit of history, you will love it too. Beside his entertaining anecdotes he has taught me a few things about the history of these countries which I think are so rad.
