Sn0wbreeze 2.9.4 Released With Support For iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak On A4 Devices

5/30/2012 09:34:00 AM - 0 comments

Popular iPhone developer ih9sn0w has just released the latest version of Sn0wbreeze for windows. Sn0wbreeze 2.9.4 brings support for iOS 5.1.1 untethered on A4 powered devices such as the iPhone 4, iPad 1, iPod touch 4G, Apple TV 2G and below.

Support for newer A5 and A5X powered devices such as the iPhone 4S, iPad 2, iPad 3 and Apple TV 3G is not included with this release as there is currently no bootrom exploit available for these devices. Sn0wbreeze relies on Geohot’s limera1n exploit to pwn custom firmwares on the older A4 powered devices.

The support for iOS 5.1.1 9B208 which is the iPhone 4 GSM has also been left out until the Absinthe tool updates the untether payload to support this minor firmware update for the iPhone 4 GSM.

The instructions for jailbreaking using Sn0wbreeze are similar to the last few releases of this too. It can be used to provide an untethered jailbreak for your A4 powered iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Apple TV 2G. You do have to use iOS 5.1.1 IPSW where necessary and you can also skip the booting tethered part with iBooty as Sn0wbreeze version 2.9.4 supports a full untethered jailbreak on the latest firmware. Sn0wbreeze version 2.9.4 for windows is now available to download.

Google Search Version 2.0 Is Now Available For The iPhone

5/23/2012 10:34:00 AM - 0 comments

The Google search app for the iPhone has hit version 2.0 and it now features a completely redesigned UI, full screen search and more. If you are ever asked to look up something online, it is more than likely that you will turn to Google. The Google search app is a popular free installation in iOS and this app has now been updated rather significantly to version 2.0.

The new Google Search app has had a complete visual redesign and there are some great new features that optimize and enhance what is already a great app. As with all updates there are some major speed improvements which means that the Google Search app now works at double the speed. Version 2.0 also brings auto full screen and all you need to do is slide your finger down to hide controls or scroll back up to reveal them once again. Full screen is also available with the image search and this means that you get more pixels per image too.

There is a little bit of gesture thrown in also with the brand new ability to swipe away webpages that you no longer need. This allows you to quickly return to your search results if you need to. Like most desktop browsers, with the new Google Search 2.0 you can now search for words or parts of words within any webpage by using the built in text finder.

You can also access your favorite Google apps right from the search such as Gmail, Calendar and Dcos and you also have the ability to save images straight to the camera roll which has been implemented for both iPhone and iPad users.

The new Google Search version 2.0 app is available free of charge from iTunes and is well worth the download.

Fold To Unlock iPhone With New Unfold Tweak

5/21/2012 09:32:00 AM - 0 comments

It was only a couple of days ago that the fold-to-unlock iOS concept from Anton Kudin was released and it has now prompted Jonas Gessner to spring into action and produce a working variant of this idea. Unfold for iPhone now brings the fold to unlock concept to reality and it is available to download now.

The name of the Unfold package came about after a little public interaction on Twitter and lock all of Gessner’s Cydia based work, this tweak is the high quality we have come to expect. So what does the Unfold Tweak actually do and why will you need it? First of all, this package integrates into the lock screen of any jailbroken device and it then amends the animations that occur when the device is unlocked by its user.

iOS allows users to swipe their fingers along the unlock bar to gain access to their device. When you install Unfold the swipe gesture is still required but the text is replaced with “fold to unlock and when the gesture is detected by the OS, the lock screen image is captured and folded out of view a bit like an accordion.

In recent months there have been a number of similar folding effects being implemented and this accordion type animation looks great on the retina display of the iPhone 4 and 4S. The Unfold tweak really does look great on the lock screen and the only advice that we have to offer is that you have a bright wallpaper to really show off the shadow effects that this tweak produces.

The Unfold tweak is also compatible with other popular jailbreak packages such as IntelliScreenX, LockInfo, Camera Grabber and more. Any loc screen notifications are honoured and the passcode restrictions are respected so if you have additional security in place on your device then you will be asked for this. Unfold is available from the BigBoss repository free of charge. You are required to have a jailbroken device and iOS 5 or above. The Unfold tweak is not currently compatible with the iPad.

The Redsn0w jailbreak is still a tethered jailbreak solution and is limited to A4 devices which are the iPhone 4, iPad 1, iPod Touch 4 and 3G and the iPhone 3G. If you are looking to jailbreak iPhone 4 then this could be the solution for you.

If you are one of the many people looking for an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1 you will be happy with the news we have to share today. It looks like Pod2g is working hard on this and keeping people updated on the progress being made. Pod2g has been updating everyone via his official blog and has been answering some of the most frequently asked questions received by jailbreakers who are concerned by the new firmware release.

Pod2g has stressed to the public that creating a user-friendly, workable tool can take quite some time and it needs to be testes thoroughly before being released. The good news for those waiting on the iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak is that it will be compatible with the latest iOS devices on iOS 5.1.1 such as the iPhone 4S/4, iPad 3/2, iPod Touch 4 and the second generation Apple TV. The 3rd generation Apple TV does seem to be out of look for now as do all the older generation devices such as the iPhone 3G and the 3rd generation iPod Touch.

The dev teams have to ensure that they include support for all compatible devices which is at the moment sixteen different models. Pod2g does mention on his blog that we would expect to see a new release within the next couple of weeks. He has stated that the public need to be patient and that an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1 will happen soon.

We will of course keep you updated and as soon as we have a release date or any further information it will be posted here.

5/14/2012 02:33:00 PM - 0 comments
A new version of the Apple iOS has been released and with iOS 5.1.1 there comes the task of the many hackers and the jailbreak community to provide a new jailbreak solution and a way to unlock iPhone 4 on iOS 5.1.1. The various dev teams have already begun bringing out updates to their jailbreak and unlock utilities. The new iOS doesn’t seem to have anything major in terms of changes and most of the changes are to fix bugs and provide a few performance enhancements. For those iPhone owners with older basebands who rely on the Ultrasn0w unlock there is good news. The Ultrasn0w Fixer has been updated to support iOS 5.1.1. Ultrasn0w currently supports the following iPhone 4 and iPhone 4GS basebands: • 01.59.00 • 04.26.08 • 05.11.07 • 05.13.01 • 05.12.01 • 06.15.00 The official version of Ultrasn0w is to be updated also but until then here is a quick way to ensure that you can unlock iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS on iOS 5.1.1. In order for this to work you must have a jailbroken iPhone on iOS 5.1.1 using custom firmware with old baseband preserved. The first thing you have to do to unlock iPhone 4 on iOS 5.1.1 is to go to Cydia and browse to manage and select Sources. Next select Edit and Add to add the required repository. Type http://repo.iparelhos.com into the pop up and then press Add Source. Once the repo has been added you need to open it in the source list which will display the Ultrasn0w Fixer 5.1.1 utility. Select the Fixer utility and tap the install button which you will find at the top right hand corner. The install will only take a few seconds. Once you have completed this the latest official version of Ultrasn0w which is 1.2.5 will need to be installed. Select Search in Cydia and type in Ultrasn0w and search the package. Once you find it, install it and you now have an unlocked iPhone on iOS 5.1.1.

New Redsn0w Update To Support Downgrading Of iPhone 4S, iPad 2 And iPad 3rd Gen

5/11/2012 09:00:00 AM - 0 comments
We have just received news that the upcoming Redsn0w update is going to support downgrading of the iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and the iPad 3rd generation and users can do their restore without using iTunes. Apple have released iOS 5.1.1 and all the Dev Teams have been working hard to update their jailbreak tools so that the latest iteration of iOS can be recognized. The iPhone Dev Team have stated via MuscleNerd on Twitter that the latest version of Redsn0w is going to include downgrade capabilities for the A5 devices. There are many people who will have updated their iOS to the new firmware release but those who rely on an unlock or jailbreak will be holding off until they are certain they are going to retain the features that they have become accustomed to. Having already enabled A4 devices to downgrade their firmware, the Redsn0w tool is now being brought up to speed to allow those with A5 devices such as the iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and the 3rd generation iPad to downgrade their software to an earlier version. The only thing users must have is their SHSH blobs and APTicket stored. This new version of Redsn0w has not yet been released and until the iPhone Dev Team release further information the ETA is still up in the air. Given their track record though, we don’t expect to be waiting too long before the updated Redsn0w tool is made available. Once we have any further information we will be sure to share it so keep an eye out for our updates and if you haven’t subscribed to our RSS feed make sure you do.

Downgrade iOS 5.1.1 to 5.1, 5.0.1, 5.0 On All A4 Devices

5/09/2012 09:42:00 AM - 0 comments
With the recent upgrade of the iOS firmware to iOS 5.1.1 many A4 device users have been wondering how to downgrade back to iOS 5.1 or lower on the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Apple does however work pretty hard to ensure that users cannot downgrade their devices but thanks to the Dev Team and the Redsn0w tool you can now restore to an older version of iOS 5 in a matter of minutes. If you are looking to downgrade all you have to do is follow this tutorial provided that you have already saved the SHSH+APTicket for the firmware version that you wish to downgrade to. If you haven’t go this you will not be able to follow this tutorial. The first thing that you have to do is download the latest version of the Redsn0w tool. You then need to backup your device’s contents via iTunes or iCloud. Once completed you then need to launch Redsn0w and connect your device to your PC or Mac via USB. Click on Extras, then click on SHSH blobs, then stitch. Select the IPSW to which you want to downgrade to and then point Redsn0w to the .plist file containing the SHSH blobs and the APTicket if you have it stored locally. If you have these files stored in Cydia, the option will be greyed out but will become available to you when the device is in DFU mode. The next step is to put your device into DFU mode, click on Cydia if your files are not stored locally and Redsn0w will save the new stitched IPSW file. Next you need to place your device into Pwned DFU mode. From the main screen in Redsn0w you need to click on Extras then Pwned DFU and follow the on screen instructions. You should then point your hosts file towards Cydia’s servers in order to spoof your device into thinking Apple has authorized the process. If you are a Windows users all you have to do is go to Windows > System 32 > Drivers > etc. On OS X go to etc. Next using any text editor you have to add the following line to the end of the hosts file: 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com The last thing you need to do is launch iTunes. You need to hold down the left SHIFT key if you use windows or the left ALT key if you use Mac and click on the restore button. Select the IPSW file and restore. It won’t take long to complete and you will be presented with your downgraded firmware. Please note, that this downgrade is only possible on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 1, iPod Touch 4G and below. This will not work on any of the A5+ devices which are the iPad 2, new iPad or iPhone 4S.
