I said goodbye in Shanghai on February 27th. I’ll see Pepper and Jordan again on April 3rd – just a little over a month. Then we will have two months until we see each again.

We had a great Chinese New Year, saw some amazing sights in Shanghai and Harbin, Pepper got to meet Kevin… it was a really amazing trip. Lots of reasons to smile!

The day that i left Shanghai we got Kevin off in a taxi to the airport early in the morning. Then about mid-day we went and picked up Jordan from his sleep-over party before heading to the airport.

Here is the color finished up. I painted with a roller and a hand brush for cutting in around the edges. The paint color is “Sierra Madre” by Ace. I am actually pretty happy about how the wall looks after my patching – there are very few spots that show any of the previous wear.

Pepper and i picked out some colors to paint the living room and dining area walls while she was here for Christmas. For a few months i have been intending to fix up the drywall and then paint. At one point i had decided to hire someone to touch up the sheet rock because i hate doing it. But they never came by so this past weekend i took care of it.

I removed the outlet covers, the floor trim, and all the nails in the wall. I put on a few coats of mud where necessary to touch up the appearance of the sheet rock.

On Sunday I picked up Orin and we ran to the dump to drop off our cardboard recycling. I spied a substantial stack of 12 pack boxes and nabbed the Coke product ones. They have a 10 code per week limit, so it will take me a few weeks to get these all entered.

The sheets had to be folded along the perforations and then stacked together and bound.

The book premiered at Crunchtime 2010 in the UK.

I took the scraps home instead of throwing them out and all winter a strip of it sat at the foot of my computer desk for me to put my stocking feet on to insulate from the floor.  I traced the pattern of a pair of my flip-flops onto them and then cut out soles quite a while ago.

It took an Instructables contest to get me going on finishing up the project though.  I used seat belt webbing salvaged from cars at the dump and a curved needle with thick thread to sew together these comfortable and very cushony indoor sandals.

It just so happened that Instructables was holding a contest that this project would work nicely in also!

I tried to sleep in on Sunday. But it was too nice out. Ollie wanted to just lounge in the sun. But I went to the landfill and salvaged a few things. I grabbed some aluminum, a metal wheelbarrow basin, some wooden slats from an Ikea bunkbed frame, and metal reflective flashing used on flourescent light fixtures.

Then I went to the brunch at PFI that is thrown for the fire department. Mmmmm bacon!

I got home and assembled some chairs that were replacements for ones that broke during shipping. I was able to repair the broken ones though so I have a LOT of matching chairs. Eleven.

I then tried working on an idea I had for the wearable art show that KFSK has later this month.
