Sure, we’re on hiatus, but, well, there were a couple of scripts that Chris wrote, specifically regarding Fluffy, that needed to be done.

So, since it is the season of giving, or something resembling that, here is a comic for you.

It’s a sequel… of sorts… to the original comic starting Dracuster and its followup that introduced Fluffy.

Also, I will plug my other comic for the fun of it: Negative Zen.

I want to thank everyone who has been checking Zing! on a regular basis. I really appreciate all the support through the year and a half we’ve been doing this.

As mentioned in previous posts, after this we’ll be going on a limited schedule, meaning that we will still update the comic, it just won’t be on a regular basis.  If so inclined, follow us on Twitter and watch out for our updates over on reddit if you want to keep abreast of our current shenanigans.  We have our personal Twitter feeds over on the sidebar as well and also the Facebook page.

It’s been an interesting year and a half, and I learned a lot about web comics. If nothing else, I guess I can always say “yeah, I did a webcomic” and scratch that off my bucket list.

This is the second to last regularly scheduled comic for Zing!  After this, we’ll update “on special occasions”, which means whenever we feel like it.  Steve is working on other projects (another web comic and some sort of music blog I believe) and I’ll be working on some projects of my own (mostly some things here and there for an upcoming anime convention).  We’ll still be around, and as always we’ll let you know what’s going on.

Remember the whole battery thing? Is this still an issue? I actually don’t know because I don’t own an iPhone (just an iPad and a iPod), so I don’t know if the battery issue is just relegated to the Phone or if the problem spread to other devices. Either way, our commentary on the whole thing is immortalized (?) in the above comic.

It’s looking like June 7th will be our last regularly scheduled comic. I want to thank all the regular viewers of the comic for being awesome (did we have regular viewers?).

The whole toilet thing is as old as time (or at least as old as the toilet itself), and yes, it’s a tired trope that will continue on until there is a toilet which automatically removes waste from you using some form of teleportation, iPhone app, or magical wish crystal.

We can dream.

Zing will be wrapping up its regulary scheduled comic and will update at random times until we become millionaires off this thing or our domain runs out (whichever comes first).

I’m a huge fan of the Metroid franchise (except for Metroid Prime: Hunters and Other M), and Samus has always been relevant to my interests. Seriously, if you’ve never played Super Metroid, you might as well cut up your GamerCard and cash in your GamerCred, because you just lost both.

As for Mass Effect, I described in a previous rant that I didn’t play any of the previous ones or the current one, however I am the first to admit that Fem Shep (or is it FemShep?)  is pretty hot for a bunch of ones and zeroes.

If there are artist out there who want to draw them in schoolgirl outfits kissing each other, feel free – I won’t stop you. Heck, I’ll endorse you. I’ll even take cosplay versions; I’m flexible.

And now a word about the comic: We’ve got about half a dozen more comics, then we will go on what Steve calls “VG Cats schedule”. What this means is that we will no longer be updating the comic on a weekly basis, we’ll update it “as needed”.  This doesn’t mean that we’ll be permanently going away to the land of wind and ghosts, but Steve and I have other projects that we will be working on, and we’ve only got so much bandwidth.

We will let you know when the last regularly scheduled comic is, and what you can do to handle the soul-crushing depression that will surely follow. At Zing!, we care.

Before you ask, there are actually anime versions of Supernatural and Highlander. Haven’t had a chance to watch them, but then again it would help if I had any interest in either one of those shows.  Not saying that they are bad, but not my thing.  I got enough of Highlander after the second movie (and a little of the television series; both live action and animated), and I couldn’t get into Supernatural (I saw about five episodes and was bored – I suspect that I’m not the target audience).

The idea of anime versions of American IPs is nothing new, heck all you need to do is get a copy of The Animatrix and you’re pretty much good to go.  I find that translating American stuff into anime is fairly hit-or-miss whereas translating anime to a live action American version usually ends up in disaster.

The bad pun on the third panel is completely my fault.  Feel free to send me any hate mail you have.

Well, there may be terrifying ghosts in the empty bowels within the old Montgomery Wards building that has since been repurposed as a Sears, and then a Dick’s Sporting Goods; might want to get Ghost Hunters on that one.

See, a couple weeks ago I had thought about King’s Table and remembered when my parents would take me there on occasion.  I hadn’t thought about it in a long time and I guess these thoughts mutated into the comic.

It may be the nostalgia talking, but I really missed eating there.  I remember the food being pretty good, but then again, I was probably like ten or so when I ate there last. It was right next door to a drive-in theater.

Ye gods I’m old.

This comic celebrates the possible opposite of the typical maid cafe, where young girls (and depending on which location/prefecture you end up in, young men) dress up in cute maid outfits and serve you foodstuffs while being generally pleasant to you and hoping that you tip well.  Can’t say I’ve every experienced an actual maid cafe (even in an anime convention setting), but it might be interesting.

I read some time ago that someone over in Japan opened up a cafe where you can pet bunnies after your meal as a means of relaxation.  I like the whole petting cute fuzzy things, so I think I would like that more than girls dressed up in maid outfits pretending that my jokes are funny.
