DoorDash is launching a new AI-powered social app designed to help users quickly find local restaurants. The app, called Zesty, is initially available in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York.

With the app, DoorDash goes beyond food delivery and enters the social and discovery space. The idea behind the app is to remove the need to read lots of different reviews, search for different menus, or scroll through TikTok when looking for a new place to eat.

Once people open the app and sign in with their DoorDash account, they can ask an AI chatbot for personalized recommendations based on what they’re looking for. In a promotional post on Instagram, the company explained that users can type in prompts like “A low-key dinner in Williamsburg that’s actually good for introverts” to find specific recommendations. Users will also see suggested prompts, such as “Brunches perfect for groups” and “Romantic dinner with vintage ambiance.”

DoorDash co-founder Andy Fang wrote in an article that the app aggregates information from DoorDash, Google Maps, TikTok and more to “curate the best suggestions from around the web.”

The app also learns your tastes to determine what you like and don’t like. Once you find a recommendation that interests you, you can save it and share it with others.

Users can view and share photos and comments about restaurants they’ve visited, discover other people’s content, and follow people like on any social network.

“At DoorDash, we’re always looking for new ways to help people connect with the best in their communities,” a DoorDash spokesperson confirmed to TechCrunch. “We’re testing an app called Zesty to make it easier to discover great restaurants, cafes, bars and more nearby through personalized search and social sharing. We’re excited to learn from early testers as we continue to shape what local discovery can look like.”

News of the app’s launch was first reported by Bloomberg.

Of course, some people might not want to download a whole new app to find new restaurants when they could just use Google. For people who have already integrated AI into their daily lives, they may already be using services like ChatGPT and Gemini to discover new restaurants. The launch of the new app marks DoorDash’s latest effort to move beyond delivery services, as the company earlier this year launched features that allow customers to make reservations for in-person dining and earn in-store rewards.

“Two people are in the hospital following a shooting involving federal agents,” said a statement from Portland police, a day after an American woman was shot and killed by an immigration agent in Minneapolis.

Local police, who stressed their officers were not involved in the shooting, said they responded to calls for help mid-afternoon.

“Officers responded and found a man and woman with apparent gunshot wounds. Officers applied a tourniquet and summoned emergency medical personnel,” the release said.

“The patients were transported to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown. Officers determined that both individuals were injured during the shooting involving federal agents.”

The incident occurred just 24 hours after a masked Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent fatally shot a 37-year-old mother in Minneapolis in what the White House called self-defense against “domestic terrorism.”

“The Portland FBI is investigating an agent-involved shooting that occurred around 2:15 p.m. near the 10000 block of Main St. in Portland, involving Customs and Border Patrol agents, in which two people were injured,” the post said.

“This is an active and ongoing investigation by the FBI.”

Local ABC affiliate KATU2 said the injured walked away from the scene of the shooting to an apartment complex, where they called for help.

Portland Mayor Keith Wilson said the shooting in his city was the result of a flood of heavily armed federal agents in what President Donald Trump sees as a crackdown on illegal immigration.

“Just one day after the horrific violence perpetrated by federal agents in Minnesota, our community here in Portland is now grappling with another deeply disturbing incident.

“We cannot stand idly by while constitutional protections erode and bloodshed increases. Portland is not a ‘training ground’ for militarized agents, and the ‘total force’ threatened by the administration has deadly consequences.”

“As Mayor, I am calling on ICE to cease all operations in Portland until a full investigation can be conducted.”

Wilson said he wants residents to make their voices heard peacefully.

“I call on all Portlanders to represent our values ​​and show up calmly and decisively during this difficult time. Portland does not respond to violence with violence.”

NASA has revealed that the crew of the International Space Station is being evacuated for the first time in history after one of the astronauts suffered a medical emergency.

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman said in a news conference Thursday that Crew-11 would not continue its mission until its scheduled return date in February and that steps for their safe return would be developed over the next 48 hours.

“I decided it was in the best interest of our astronauts to bring back Crew-11 before their scheduled departure,” Isaacman revealed.

The announcement came less than a day after NASA canceled a spacewalk Thursday due to medical concerns, with officials saying they were “exercising an abundance of caution toward the crew member.”

Crew 11 includes four astronauts: NASA’s Zena Cardman and Mike Fincke, Japanese astronaut Kimiya Yui, and Russian cosmonaut Oleg Platonov.

The group was recently joined by Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata and NASA astronaut Chris Williams, who arrived at the station aboard a Russian Soyuz spacecraft in November 2025.

Isaacman said Williams would remain on the station with the Soyuz crew to maintain the U.S. presence in space.

Although the astronaut who suffered the medical problem has not been revealed, NASA Chief Medical Officer Dr. James Polk said the astronaut was in no immediate danger and that they were being cared for by their fellow crew members until their return.

Dr. Polk added that the medical problem suffered by the astronaut had nothing to do with the upcoming spacewalk or any other operations aboard the station.

“This is primarily a medical problem in the difficult areas of microgravity,” Polk explained without going into specific medical details.

NASA officials noted that no special precautions would be necessary to ensure the ailing astronaut’s safety until his return and described his condition as “stable” until the evacuation plan is finalized.

NASA has never had to bring an astronaut home for medical reasons, but an evacuation plan was built into every ISS mission, with the crew’s return vehicles kept on standby.

Isaacman said any decision to potentially accelerate the launch of Crew-12 would not impact the upcoming Artemis II mission scheduled for February 2026.

He called the two launches “completely separate campaigns,” meaning there should be no problem launching Artemis on time. Artemis II will be the first human spaceflight to orbit the Moon since 1972.

Meanwhile, the ISS must have astronauts on board at all times, as they are essential to perform maintenance, repairs, conduct complex experiments, manage life support and perform spacewalks, tasks that automation cannot fully handle, ensuring constant human oversight of safety and scientific production.

Until now, no crew had been evacuated before the scheduled departure time from the ISS. However, two spacewalks were recently canceled due to various health issues among the astronauts.

The device runs on a 375mAh battery that fully charges in around 1.5 hours. Battery performance varies depending on recording mode. Looki claims up to 9 hours of use when recording 5 seconds per minute, 11 hours for 9 seconds every two minutes, and 13 hours for 11 seconds every three minutes.

Adobe is updating its AI video generation app, Firefly, with a new video editor that supports precise, prompt-based edits, as well as adding new third-party templates for image and video generation, including FLUX.2 and Topaz Astra from Black Forest Labs.

Until now, Firefly only supported prompt-based generation, so you had to recreate the entire clip if you didn’t like any part of the video. With the new editor, you can use text prompts to change video assets, colors, and camera angles, and we also get a new timeline view that lets you easily adjust images, sounds, and other features.

The company first announced the new video editor in October in private beta, and it is now rolling out to all users.

The company said that using Runway’s Aleph template, users can give Firefly specific instructions, such as “Change the sky to be overcast and reduce contrast” or “Zoom in slightly on the main subject.”

And with Adobe’s Firefly Video template, users can now do things like upload a seed frame and reference video of a camera move and tell it to recreate that camera angle for the video they’re working on.

The company also said that users can now use Topaz Labs’ Astra model to upscale videos to 1080p or 4K. Black Forest Labs’ FLUX.2 image generation model is also coming to the app, with collaborative boards functionality.

The company said FLUX.2 will be available immediately on Firefly on all platforms and Adobe Express users will be able to use FLUX.2 starting in January.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, a Democrat, called the claim “bullshit” and “rubbish,” based on videos taken by bystanders during the incident that appeared to contradict the government’s narrative.

Videos of the incident taken by bystanders and shared online appeared to show two masked police officers approaching Good’s car, which was stopped on a Minneapolis street. As a police officer ordered Good out of the car and grabbed his door handle, the car briefly reversed, then began moving forward, turning right in an apparent attempt to leave the scene.

A federal judge in New York has disqualified Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of New York John Sarcone from leading two investigations against New York’s attorney general. Sarcone, a former campaign lawyer for President Trump, was named acting U.S. attorney in the Northern District of New York, which includes Albany, last year after President Trump declined to nominate someone for the position when he took office. But soon after, Attorney General Pam Bondi appointed Sarcone as special prosecutor and appointed him as first assistant U.S. attorney in the Northern District in an attempt to keep him as acting U.S. attorney.

Sarcone is the administration’s fifth choice for U.S. attorneys who were serving on a temporary basis and were disqualified by a federal judge.

Sarcone’s office had been investigate James for his office’s handling of the civil fraud investigation against President Trump and a lawsuit filed by his office against the National Rifle Association and its leaders. As part of this investigation, James was subpoenaed in August.

After the subpoenas were issued, James sued to quash them, arguing in court documents that Sarcone had been appointed illegally. The Justice Department argued that Sarcone’s “special prosecutor” title gave him the authority to issue a subpoena.

In a 24-page opinion released Thursday, U.S. District Judge Lorna Schofield ruled that Sarcone “is not lawfully serving as Acting U.S. Attorney” and found that “all past or future acts of his in that capacity are void or voidable because they would be based on authority that Mr. Sarcone does not lawfully possess.”

Bondi’s actions to keep Sarcone in his position, Schofield wrote, were not legal.

Schofield also quashed two subpoenas to James’ office, finding they “were issued by a public official acting without legal authority” because he remained in office after the 120-day deadline expired and was never nominated or confirmed by the Senate for the position.

Sarcone, Schofield ruled, “is also disqualified from any further involvement in prosecuting or supervising the criminal investigations that prompted the subpoenas.”

The decision is another victory for James, who successfully argued that the criminal case against her in Virginia be dropped, at least temporarily, because the federal prosecutor there, Lindsey Halligan, was also illegally appointed to her position.
