This means that people can type in your name via different search engines and your facebook profile may come up in the list. If you do not want your facebook profile to be indexed by search engines then you can do the following:

Log into your facebook account

Click on the gear button

Go to Privacy Settings

Go to “who can look me up?” then you will see “Do you want other search engines to link to your timeline?”

Edit this and uncheck the “Let other search engines link to your timeline”

Thats it, once you have turned this feature off, facebook will not let the search engines index your facebook profile.

St John NT approached Zise looking for a way to update their old website, completely redesigning it to give it a more modern and clean feel. Zise was able to provide a user friendly experience with a design that matched the branding and style that St John NT is known for.

Zise looks forward to working with St John Ambulance Nt in the future to complete the second stage of the website, implementing an online store and shopping cart to showcase and sell their products online.

Announced today, the Galaxy S4 will be rocking some crazy specs, including 2GB of RAM, a 13 megapixel camera and come in a variety of sizes (16GB, 32GB & 64GB) with the option of an external SD card to be inserted.

The new Galaxy S4 will have a similar design to the current Galaxy S3, with the exception of a larger 5 inch screen compared to the current 4.8 inch. The phone will also come in two styles, one black and one white finish.

The Galaxy S4 is to be released in April this year, with no set date in Australia. Samsung has only confirmed it to be in Q2 (April – June).

During this presentation, a number of things happened. It was confirmed that the Playstation 4 wasn’t a rumour and that it would be released this year. The hardware that the Playstation 4 will contain is a great deal more powerful than that of the PS3 and will match a decent gaming computer equal to about AUD $1300.

The confirmed specs of the PS4 are as follows;

AMD 8-Core x86 Jaguar CPU

AMD Radeon GPU

8GB GDDR5 RAM with 176GB/second bandwidth

Blu-Ray, HDMI, USB 3.0, Wi-Fi

During the press conference, a number of developers made presentations of upcoming games built specifically for the Playstation 4 including The Witness, Watch Dogs, Killzone: Shadowfall, Infamous Second Son, Knack and Driveclub. Below are some of the demos from the conference said to be running on Playstation 4 hardware and let me just say, they look amazing. Now we just have to wait and see what the new Xbox has to offer.

Note: All videos are said to be in game graphics.

Email newsletters can be a great marketing tool for a business whether it be large or small. Essentially, an email newsletter enables you to be able to send an informative message to a large database of users quickly and easily, not forgetting that it is also highly cost effective. Using an email newsletter does have its drawbacks, but if used correctly, can be a great boost to your business awareness.

The main thing to know when using email newsletters is to not ‘flood’ your subscribers with content. As a reader, the most annoying thing is to be constantly spammed the same bland, regurgitated newsletter with slightly different content. Straight away when this starts to happen, people get annoyed and lose interest and will inevitably unsubscribe from your mailing list.

The layout for an email newsletter should be basic and contain (at minimum) the following elements.

Subject: The subject of your email newsletter is probably the single most important part of the whole package. It needs to grab the readers attention and convince them to open the email and read more, all within the space of a few words.

Header: The header is the first thing people will see when they open your newsletter. It needs to contain your branding and also a date and/or issue number of the newsletter.

Content: The content is obviously becomes the main make-up of the newsletter. The content needs to be interesting, fresh and to the point. Having too much content on the page can scare readers off or even end confusing them. The best way to layout is to have short snippets of content/articles with a read more link that goes off to your website of blog if people are interested.

This is only a basic overview of what an email newsletter should contain. There are obviously infinite possibilites about what you could do with your particular newsletter and, depending on your audience, some of these hints/tips may not actually apply. The best thing you can possibly do is give it a go. Start sending out a small newsletter and building up a database of subscribers, start getting feedback and see how many people subscribe and unsubscribe. There is no right or wrong, just what your audience wants.

If you are looking to send out newsletters, we can offer you various email packages with an easy to use interface! Contact us today for more information.

We get a lot of our ideas from strange things sometimes, but that’s where good design ideas come from. This time we have some delectable images to get your creative juices into gear (or stomach) after all… What better way to inspire design than with tasty tasty food art.

 1. This first work is titled ‘Mermaid, It’s What’s For Dinner‘ by “Chef Nicky”, an incredible cake artist known by "Sliceofcake" on his Deviantart gallery.

2. This tasty little rice dish is made by Amy Chan, titled ‘Pirate Panda Onigiri‘. It’s insides are stuffed with tasty tasty goodness.. But what kind of monster could eat something that cute!

3. This ‘Obi Wan Kenobi‘ cake not only looks amazingly detailed, but as an added bonus … it’s delicious chocolate cake! This one is created by the artist Kate Hopkins.

4. Dan Cretul has created some interesting objects with pieces of food.. Like this ‘orange bicycle‘ for instance. I admit it’s not as tasty as a chocolate cake but it’s definately creative!

5. This is another one done by "Chef Nicky" the cake artist. This bag just looks so tasty and realistic I had to share it ‘YSL Muse‘.

Windows 8 has been in and out of the media’s eye the past year, with different previews being released for public use. Opinions on Microsoft’s new OS have been extremely varied with many thinking it’s a huge risk that the company is undertaking, trying to change the standard ‘desktop environment’ into a more touch-friendly, interactive experience. Here’s my opinion on whether the risk was worth it.

This review is going to be broken up into two main areas; Installation and Performance. I will be covering the design in another post early next week (there’s a lot to say about the user interface of Windows 8, too much for one blog post). For now, let’s start off with Performance.

Installtion 10/10: “Better than Expected”

For anyone planning on upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8, the main thing you are going to be worried about is whether or not your programs and files will transfer smoothly through the update. The short answer is Yes, just make sure you do a backup first.

After unwrapping my package and inserting the brand new, shiny Windows 8 disk into my drive, I was greeted with a simple to follow wizard that walked me the whole way through the installation process. The only major decision during the process I had to make was, do I;

Install Windows 8 as a clean slate by removing all programs, settings, files and folders.

Install Windows 8 only keeping programs and files.

Install Windows 8 keeping everything.

I chose option C and then left my computer for 20 minutes while the installer carried out it’s purpose. When I returned, Windows 8 was installed perfectly, all my program files and folders were carried through the update without a hitch and every program worked fine on the new OS without any compatibility issues.

With any major OS update, there is bound to be some people who have issues, but from my experience, having it work brilliantly from the get-go, I’d recommend choosing option C to anyone.

Perfomance 8/10:

Let me just say that the first time I booted Windows 8 from a complete cold start (power completely off, not in hibernation mode) I was definitely surprised, in a great way. Boot-up only took 8 seconds compared to my time for Windows 7 boot-up of 18 seconds. This huge difference in boot time is an amazing thing, I no longer start up my computer and walk away, waiting for it to start. I simply, press the power button, sit down and by the time I’m comfortable, I am logging in already.

Programs and executables run just as you would expect on Windows 8, there is literally no difference in performance than Windows 7 (performance was already getting high marks). The only slight issue to do with performance in Windows 8 is when playing some 3D games there are a few lag spikes which last only a second before returning back to playable frame rates. Note: These spikes could be cause by a number of issues to do with drivers, etc, not necessarily the Operating System.

Coming up next week: Windows 8: The Review Part 2

Do you want a simple point and shoot style camera that allows you to accurately choose your focal point with a breeze?

Well, this camera can do that and much, much more!

Introducing to you, the Lytro.. an interesting and ingeniously designed camera that allows you to focus an image.. after you have taken it.

Here is a demo if what the Lytro can do;
