Blast from the past

noreply@blogger.com (Cazz) — Tue, 05 Mar 2019 23:14:00 +0000

Looking fir a picture of a Mad Hatter embroidery that I was made and I found my blog.....Honestly I had forgotten that it existed.

Then I started reading and some of it choked me up. Goodness me some of the most emotional, significant and happy moment are in the blog. More than on my Facebook....so after nearly two years break I’m going to start blogging again.

If you read it all good if not it’s just for me.

My life revolves around my job, my family, my cats, rescue cats and Pottery.

This is my year for putting my pottery out there....I have plans. Will tell you more.

My pottery has taken a very hands on direction, not touched my wheel for over a year....OMG
But I have been very active with pinch pots.

Matchless Pots

noreply@blogger.com (Cazz) — Wed, 04 Jan 2017 16:36:00 +0000

oh dear, I can't believe that it's been 6 months since I last blogged....I blame Matchless Pots, (My Facebook page). Between that and Instagram I feel that I'm always talking about my art....but not via my blog obviously. Oops!

Okay I promise to do better.

The other issue is that I extensively use my iPad for social media and blogspot is just not that easy to use with the iPad.

Going to put together a few posts:

My art classes - progress over the past 6 months.

Matchless Pots - best of 2016

New project - art Journaling

Talk soon.

Watercolours

noreply@blogger.com (Cazz) — Sat, 02 Jul 2016 13:41:00 +0000

Had my first Art Class 28/6/16

We started with some practice exercises, one was continuous line. Really fun.

We then worked on a bug that we chose from boxes of bugs in resin.

Teacher told us we should draw every day. The only way to get better.

My Hares aren't great, but very early days.

I do find though, they get infinitely better if you add Watercolour.

Mummy dearest got me a £1.49 set of watercolours, as I had none at home.

Absolutely loving doing drawing and painting again.

Mug Rugs again

noreply@blogger.com (Cazz) — Mon, 27 Jun 2016 20:57:00 +0000

I've been missing doing some sewing. When I had to empty the junk room to make it into a pottery room, my sewing space in the bedroom got run over with stuff. So no sewing for about a year and a half. :o(

Yesterday I dragged what I could lay my hands on and headed up to Mum's and made a couple of Mug Rugs.

I can't remember how I used to free motion quilt. I think I had a darning foot - Can't find it at the moment. So I just quilted in lines generally.

Really like both of these, they took me the better part of an afternoon and an evening.

Anyway this morning a small glass desk popped up on Freegle and I jumped on it.

So I have spent the last 4 hours tidying, cleaning and recycling so that I can have this.

My sewing machine is still at Mum's along with all my quilting stuff, but it is definitely a start. Expect to see more Mug Rugs. I'm also planning on selling them.

Tomorrow I start an ART class. Looking forward to getting stuck in and hopefully improving my painting and drawing and maybe developing a style.

It's every 2nd week at The Kelpie Studio https://www.facebook.com/The-Kelpie-Studio-1430694993846318/ in Cruden Bay.

Look forward to art on my blog - maybe not good Art though ;o)

Wibbley Wobbly Wednesday

noreply@blogger.com (Cazz) — Wed, 15 Jun 2016 18:57:00 +0000

So I'm on annual leave this week. Had a quick trip down to Potfest at the weekend to buy some Mayco glazes and have been missing on how to test out combinations.

This is what I mean.

Then I remember I'd fubarbed a tumbler a while back and it had ended up Wibbley wobbly and that sparked a thought. Instead of making tumblers I'd make Yunomis - Japanese tea bowls. Yeah they are very much like tumbler.

So this afternoon I took to the wheel and hey presto I have Wibbley Woobly Yunomi.

They are still very wet, but just need a little foot carving and my stamp and they'll be good to dry.

Feeling quite accomplished as what is on those shelves is excellent what I had planned.

Glaze firing 22/5/16

noreply@blogger.com (Cazz) — Fri, 27 May 2016 12:02:00 +0000

These went in.....

These came out

These are awesome. I am so pleased with them. Definitely going to make more lighthouses.

Same here day of the dead mugs are so pretty. More on the horizon

My Red iron oxide. (RIO) slip turned out fab.

Little experimental jar is super cute

Has a little crack on inside though.

Showing my love for #The100 and #BellamyBlake. My new pasta bowl

Pretty damn pleased with this load.

Small Art Nouveau inspired flower bowls

noreply@blogger.com (Cazz) — Fri, 15 Apr 2016 10:51:00 +0000

It started with the poppy bowl. Then I realised that I had 4 bowls of similar shape and size. Now I have a series of small flower bowls.

They're all greenware at the moment, drying ready for bisque get.

I'm really liking them. What's your favourite?

Tonight I'm going to see the Youth theatre doing Phantom of the Opera - looking forward to it.... Apart from the fact the weather is being nasty. It was sleeting when I picked my DD up from her friends this morning. sleeting I tell you!!!!!

Picatso - a play on Cats and Picasso

noreply@blogger.com (Cazz) — Wed, 06 Apr 2016 11:00:00 +0000

When I was a teenager I used to doodle like this:

The other day I remembered those doodles and thought that would look cool on pottery. I then saw a picture of a couple cats on a tile and thought 'Yes!!' - cat and doodles why not?

Large bowl in shades of blue and pink.

Hand made jar- if you can see the thin dark line cutting through the cat head, that's the lid.

Pinch pot Picatso cup in green, blue, gold and white.

They're all going to need some drying before a bisque fire and then clear glaze added before a final glaze fire.nloved doing it, but not doing more until I see how all the colours work out. Using some blue Stroke and coated which is very new to me.

Pinch pots

noreply@blogger.com (Cazz) — Sat, 26 Mar 2016 16:51:00 +0000

Been on a pinch pot kick recently. Saw some glazed carved ones on Facebook, plus I recently pulled one out of the kiln so was feeling very inspired.

So far I'm working on some animal jewellery bowls, some Alice in Wonderland inspired cups and some small carved bowls.

Having great fun with these.

Lighthouses

noreply@blogger.com (Cazz) — Sun, 20 Mar 2016 18:25:00 +0000

Ages ago someone suggest that I might like to have a go at making lighthouses in clay.

I trawled the Internet and found loads of inspiration. This is my Pinterest page on them.

http://pin.it/fJK-yJe

Finally his week I got round to trying out a couple of prototypes.

First one

Second one and a little decoration started.

Carving and cutting done. Just need to dry thoroughly. Bit worried about the struts of the windows up top. Fingers crossed they don't crack.

Anyway first glaze firing of the year almost done. Exciting!!

Results tomorrow.

First Sales at Market crafts

noreply@blogger.com (Cazz) — Fri, 18 Mar 2016 09:09:00 +0000

Got a Message from Melissa- Market Crafts.

My first items have been sold.

Colour black mug sold to a fellow seller in Market Crafts.

She even send Melissa aphorism of it in it's new home

Which is just utterly delightful to see

And finally one of the Art Nouveau inspired coffee mugs - Melissa bought as a present for a friend.

Going to fire up the kiln this weekend. Need to restock - very happy hobby potter here.

Now selling on the high street

noreply@blogger.com (Cazz) — Fri, 11 Mar 2016 21:36:00 +0000

Well maybe not the high street, but you can find my pottery in a store.

Market Crafts in Aberdeen Indoor market, just of Market Street.

I'm excited and perturbed it too. What if no-one buys any of my pottery?

Now my shelves are empty I've been inspired to do some more work.

Some hand build tumblers and mugs. These are Dia de lots Muertos (day of the dad) inspired and I'm quite excited about them.

They are not very round, but I think they'll be pretty.

Think I'm going to make some more of these.

I'm renting a shelf

noreply@blogger.com (Cazz) — Sun, 06 Mar 2016 22:44:00 +0000

Got a message from a friend recently about the opportunity to rent a shelf in a craft shop.

Sounds interesting so I got some advertisement made up.

Above is a postcard.

Below the business card

Going down on Tuesday to set up my shelf.

Tonight felt somewhat insured so did a little painting.

My latest Obsession

noreply@blogger.com (Cazz) — Sun, 10 Jan 2016 20:27:00 +0000

Not blonde hair and a tan.....

The 100

I've written about it http://archiveofourown.org/works/5464022

I've read heaps of fan fiction about it.

My tumblr is full of it.

Now I have a Bellamy Blake (favourite Character) bowl in the works.

I used this picture

Drew this quick drawing

Then using underglazes - in shades of blue - decorated this bowl

As per usual not sure how it will turn out - underglazes can be a little hit and miss especially with dark colours.

Quite proud of it hope it survives and the detail doesn't end up muddy.

Also threw a couple of mugs

Gotten lost in Fan Fiction

noreply@blogger.com (Cazz) — Mon, 30 Nov 2015 13:27:00 +0000

Not quite as pathetic as it seems. A. There are some fantastic writers out there. Better than some books I've read. B. I started writing!!!!

Not altogether sure how it happened. Something sparked and the next thing I knew I'd a teeny tiny oneshot and started a multi- chapter fic.

My inspiration From Dusk till Dawn the series - honestly you need to check it out. Love it and totally adore Seth Gecko played by DJ Cotrona. Yeah I'd never heard of him either, but now he's all over my phone and iPad.

This is one of my graphics made on my iPads.

I've even started a tumblr account.....I know, but it's fun and I've connected with some great people who love my fandom a just as much as me. Also found me some Beta's to support my poor writing skills. Check out http://skippingrocksinthismoment.tumblr.com/post/134114689237 and http://thatpunkmaximoff.tumblr.com/

My two betas with fab tumblr blogs.

Anyway if interested I write From Dusk Till Dawn fan fiction and The 100 (only started, but working on more). My OTPs are SethKate and Bellarke.

Links to my fan fic pages and tumbler.

Celtic Shot Glasses

noreply@blogger.com (Cazz) — Fri, 17 Jul 2015 21:16:00 +0000

Recently out of the kiln.

Really pleased with how these turned out.

Love them so much I needed to make more.

Trying a slightly different technique with a red iron oxide infused slip.

For sale via my Facebook page.

Tea Bag Catcher

noreply@blogger.com (Cazz) — Sun, 12 Jul 2015 12:12:00 +0000

I made these pinch pot tea bag catchers several months ago

Yesterday this one came out of a glaze firing.

I used Mayco Mirror Black as the glaze. He's gorgeous.

So much so that a friend saw him and immediately bought him.

Hope he gives her loads of pleasure and catches those teabags.

Pottery Comission

noreply@blogger.com (Cazz) — Sat, 11 Jul 2015 14:27:00 +0000

One of my friends was planning to buy a yarn bowl for her Mum's birthday. She then asked if I would be able to make one for her, instead of buying it from someone, she'd buy one from me.

I was up for the challenge.

We discussed her Mum's style and things that she likes.

Rennie Mackintosh was banded about.

We discussed shape and one was decided on.

I drew out some designs

She liked A best, but had some ideas on having lines like Rennie Mackintosh chairs rather then boxes.

This is bisque stage

They came out of the kiln this morning and are away with their new owner. My friend is delighted and her Mum was too. so happy.

My Pottery Facebook Page.

noreply@blogger.com (Cazz) — Fri, 10 Jul 2015 10:52:00 +0000

Not been blogging much as I have started a Facebook page for my pottery.

https://www.facebook.com/MatchlessPots

Please check it out and Like it. Then you'll get to see all my pottery. It's about the only craft I have time to do these days. Good job I love it.

I have a glaze firing on at the moment. In it is my second commission and hopefully a present for my Mum and some Tumblers for my son.

He paid me a huge compliment recently (hope generally not so forthcoming), but he told me he likes his Diver tumbler.

Could he get some more.....Swoon!!

If you want to purchase any of my pottery, just comment on my Facebook page or send me a PM. I can give you a quote including postage for the piece.

Here are some works in progress.

Back home for a visit

noreply@blogger.com (Cazz) — Sat, 21 Mar 2015 21:39:00 +0000
