For all those that can get to one of our 4 stores, you'll find your trip is well worthwhile. We are having a clearance sale for the month of March.  It's simply time to make room for some great new lines arriving at the beginning of April.

Until then it's your chance to grab a bargain,  all of the stock on offer is great product that we bought in for Christmas. It seems that Brands are winning the day on the High Street at the moment whether it's clothing, jewellery or footwear, they do seem to have the edge over the smaller players. Now I know that buying a brand is safe and when money is tight we all play it a little safer and that's maybe part of the reason that we buy brands in tougher times.  You know what you are getting form a brand, you know the quality, you can identify yourself with a brand, you get what you pay for with a brand. But and here's the but, if we all keep buying brands the world will all become very neutral. Ultimately we will be clones of our type and fall into the trap laid by the big boys who are running the brands..... we will all be walking around looking like each other and being cast into a type, in fact they will create a brand caste system, that's their masterplan and that's the problem. 

What's my point, I hear you cry, we'll I'm simply speaking up for the independants of this world, we should all be aware of this and fight back and fight to become more individual.  It'll be a dull day when all the smaller players have been squeezed out of the market by the big boys.  

Fight the fight for freedom for the people, oops I'm beginning to sound political, apologies for that, my conclusion is that we've just gotta look after the rich tapestry of choice that the UK does so well and we'll do this by supporting the whole rather than simply buying brands......end of sermon..!

We have decided to start the January sale early this year to allow you all to spend those Christmas pennies on a treat for yourself and I would encourage you to buy early while stocks last, the closing date is the 17th of January.  It's been a tough month for one and all with the weather being so extreme so we feel we should do our bit and offer you our great customers a chance to spoil yourselves. We have also agreed to keep the Freepost offer on for the whole month of January.

We are right in the thick of the Christmas frenzy now and to make matters more complicated we have this weather to contend with, great thanks. On a positive note we are busy fulfilling orders down here at packing central with the whole team pulling together and working their socks off. The stores are open for business and are busy looking after their loyal customers, oh look out I feel a speach coming on.......''people we are staying on track to complete our mission which is to provide you all with that something different for pressies to give to your loved ones around the tree this year''. Arh that's better...!!!

Thought for the day, if Zoo were a footy team who would we be...? Well we would be somewhere around the top 4 in any league in Europe, we have a multi talented group with inspirational players who play togther as a team, blimey there's a few prem managers who would kill for that blend.

Three Christmas's ago in December I was driving to Worthing to work in our store and the good old BBC were talking up the chances of the country sliding into recession, great thanks just what you need going into one of the big 4 Saturdays before Christmas. Anyway 18 months later we officially did go into recession, the time when the economy finally stops growing, un-employment grows and we remain stagnent for 6 months or more...throughout this 18 month period prior to the dip the news was full of the negative, we are all doomed menality and finally we fell into this state of play, afterall you reap what you sow BBC, you seemed to get your wish, we went into recession.

Well, what's my point I hear you say, my point is, where is all the equivalent news about the recovery, albeit a slow recovery. For example Manufacturing was up across the nation in the last quarter, this recieved one mention on a news story..? Where is the in depth reporting of the good news stories like this, am I alone in wanting to hear about the positives of this countries revival, what is going on BBC. Please pull you finger out and get some balance to what you report to the nation, you have a lot to answer for and a huge responsiblity to be impartial and more balanced.

Good news and feeling good can be contagious and might just help us recover quicker.......rant over...!!

Hats off to each of our store teams this week, the weather was rubbish, cold, icey, snowy and miserable but I am proud to say of all the teams turned up with smiles on their faces and got on with the job. All of our Zoo stores were open despite the chaos and I have to say a big thank you to the whole gang.

We have a new look, brilliant new stock, new packaging and new smiles...!!

Ok the last thing we needed was this dump of snow, yes it's beautiful and yes the snowmen are fun to build but hey this is our hectic Christmas period and our delivery men need all the help they can get...Doh..! Lulu, a well known singer in the Christchurch and Bournemouth area, recorded Rachel Battistini’s song earlier this year said, “This is the first recording I have made as previously all my performances have been on stage. This was such great fun to do and I’m really pleased with the result”.

Lulu stared as Mabel Norman in July this year in Jerry Herman’s hit musical ‘Mack and Mabel’ by Highcliffe Charity players at the Regent Centre Christchurch. Look out for Lulu in future productions in the Dorset area but you don’t have to wait until then. Download her Christmas song for just 79p and help an independently produced recording climb the charts instead of the usual Christmas songs released by the major record labels. Winchester High Street in all it's glory. Take a moment to see our vibrant new look store, please note the stylish and creative feature paper on the outside of the store, chosen by the team. The paper carries on through the store where we have also upgraded the lighting and display cabinets.

Starting Monday the new look will be completed with cool new display stands that will be joined by our super new stock as it starts to roll in for the build up to Christmas, dare I  say it, well it's only 10 weeks away....!!!  

Worthing have had their lighting upgraded plus a make-over both inside and out to be completed by the end of the month. Salisbury has had the same colour change with a beautiful new floor to be added next weekend which will finish the picture there.

Christchurch is the new kid on the block. This store alone is responsible for the new look  Zoo that started with the  shop-fit undertaken for it's opening earlier in May.

We are fighting our corner as an independant retailer and look forward to the challenge of another Christmas as we pull through these gloomy economic times. Give us a break news-readers and start by celebrating the gains rather than the losses in the news, cheer up, ''don't you know the futures bright...''
