My Domain in the mercy of MyDomain

Long time no post. I already forgot how to manage my blog but I’m so pissed so I need to share my experience. In the same time as I like to test some things about internet penetration I’ve decided to see if it is possible to raise your voice against someone who posses more might than you and if this voice will echo thru someone who has power to solve this issue.

OK enough intro, now to the center of my problem. We have registered domain years ago. Domain was registered at mydomain.com with a person who worked with us at that time. Registered domain was associated with email account from that person. As a result of that email notification was sent to that email account to which we don’t have access. Uniformed we realized that our domain expired when our email messages stopped coming. Now as we are in the middle of a big problem, we are in to procedure to regain our domain as FAQ says thru their ticked system.

I’m sure that this isn’t unique case and I need information from all of you “sufferers”? Feel free to comment and help me to find solution. I will later update you on this issue on this blog.

P.S. Little visualization to this post will be image from chat conversation with sales representative who somehow with pop-up window invited me to chat with him, while I was reading their support guide, probably to offer me something to buy.

If you research little bit, you’ll find that everything is not quite ready there. Most of the new members are Google employees and their invitees. Google+ team is working hard to fix all bugs that surfaced after initial startup. From screenshots below you can meet most famous man there who with the speed of light got 1000 friends.

Every Google user who has tried YouTube, Blogger and AdSense after the launch of Google+ will certainly wonder whether he will have the opportunity to earn by creating and sharing content on this service. Until now, Google was not so selfish unlike Facebook and other major social networks.
Users are those without which these networks can’t survive. They do not create content, just give you the opportunity to express yourself. Until now they have relied only on human psychology, and the desire of users to be recognized by others. We’ll see if Google will introduce a new practice.
What do you think do they deserve to earn from hundreds of images and other content that you submit every day, which at the end generate visits and therefore earnings to these web giants?

Today all media worldwide report about Google’s new social networking service. Critical as always this is my report.
Ladies and gentlemen Google+ is here, or somewhere here, in the presentations, on YouTube, but not in front of me.
After today’s loud announcement all over the net I ended at Google+. Or Google Wave? I’m not sure because everything’s the same. It’s like a Déjà vu to me.
When Wave was launched it was presented like something that would revolutionize the way people communicate. After such an uproar and the longest presentation video I had ever watched, trying to test this service ended on the initial wave page, where beside the video was info that the service was in the test phase and access was given to only a limited number of users. When I finally got access I had nothing to try, my contacts weren’t there. Today I logged in with my Google account on this new service just to find similar message. You get the point here. I wonder how my social life on Google+ would look like? Probably all alone and waiting for my friends to come to the party, one on every 3 hours. I’m sure my friends will come and go. I see that the Google guys somewhat realized the point of social life creating these “circles” (which is not something new, Facebook has this). Realized that not everyone is like them and not everyone wants to index the entire world. But they forgot their own advice to all Webmasters, how websites must be designed to be visible on the net, to be created for users, to be fast because ordinary visitors avoid slow sites. Well congratulations Google, you guys just created slowest site on the net. I tried to access exactly 13 hours ago and still nothing. Maybe you should create even longer video than wave’s one, just to keep me occupied in the meantime.

Precautions after WordPress security breach

No further explanation from WordPress team about security breach reported yesterday. How is it possible such popular plugins to be compromised in their plugin directory? WPtouch has more than 2 million downloads, W3 Total Cache more than half million and AddThis slightly below half million. Naked Security reports that danger period is about 48 hours and your site could be affected if you “only”: run your own wordpress installation, using one of these plugins and updated one of those in past 48 hours.
Wordpress.org cleaned their yard but judging by the popularity of these plugins and wordpress platform itself, the damage can be much greater. There is no report about backdoor damage potential on compromised sites, and what info can be collected with this backdoor.
Until further explanation be cautious, not every wordpress powered site member is web developer or such and this information is outside their area of interest, they don’t even know that affected site is wordpress powered and what wordpress is, so I encourage all webmasters to inform their members in a way that wordpress.org did.
“As a user, make sure to never use the same password for two different services, and we encourage you not to reset your password to be the same as your old one.”

Mashable CDN’s or W3 Total Cache?

What stinks here? Mashable CDN’s or W3 Total cash?
Recently searching around for wordpress plugins that will fit my new coming blog I stopped at Mashable. I was very curious what plugins are used there. My eye always stopped at nice looking social sharing implementation. Also noticeable for me was W3 EDGE partnership. I’ve read on some other places how nice is their W3 Total cash plugin which also implements CDN. But as I frequently start to visit Mashable and start reading W3 EDGE blog posts I find that something is not quite perfect there.

Mashable. Site was loaded without CSS and all my tries refreshing the page (which previously helped) didn’t bring success. I suppose that this is some failure of CDN’s or W3 Total Cache. As I’m writing this post situation is the same. As you can see from screenshots I’m using latest version of Firefox browser (4.0.1). Have you seen this screen?

Respect to the useful blog posts at W3 EDGE. I’ve last read one of their popular post – Get Your Blog Google Ranked in 30 Days or Less. I found very helpful information about blog startup but my eagle eye stopped at post comments. I’m critical to every SEO post that I found on web since there are bloggers who write them just to get traffic on their PPC blogs. I’m sure that W3 EDGE is not one of them. But, I found some spam comments which somehow didn’t go together with tips mentioned in the post. I don’t know, but seriously their credibility in my eyes went down. I’ve selected some of them and made few screenshots. Comments left, linked pages right.

Let YouTube choose! We think you might like Chrome.

Today browsing youtube videos I’ve noticed something new in right suggestions bar. With default winking smiley thumbnail, YouTube is offering hidden suggestion that you might like. Also worth mentioning is that this is only shown in Chrome browser.
Maybe it’s still in test phase or period of evaluation or perhaps Google is just using its dominant position to enrich Chrome experience.
Any how, I saw this pretty interesting and I also believe it will be a benefit to all those who spend hours on YouTube, especially music-minded.
Аs a faithful Firefox user I expect YouTube not to omit me.
