Two very big thank-yous are in order this week:

The first goes to Drew aka FakeJake who held down the fort here, on Twitter, and Facebook so I could take a week off and think. We didn’t get any closer to actually reading all of Zoomdoggle’s inbound mail, but vacations are always good and Drew, having never been me before, did a fantastic job. In fact, he did such a good job, I think we should have a guest Jake every other week. Give me a week to figure out what that means - perhaps we can make the program funner, perhaps you have a suggestion for how - then we’ll get to it. In the meantime, if you’re interested, holler at me.

Next up but no less important is Jon, his lady, and their little buffalo. Cashew and I were sitting in the park, discussing the merits of Zoomdoggle and considering pulling the plug, when Jon and his fam, a group I’d never met before, wandered over to say how much they enjoy reading it. Sold. If Jon likes it, I like it. It’s just got to get better is all…

Interesting side note, the last time I was considering calling it a day, I was on the subway talking to Jordan, the coding genius who makes the site run, when a then unknown Color Me Katie, stepped out of the shadows to say how much she enjoyed it. I guess if there’s a moral here it’s this: You never know the impact your words will have. Speak up at every chance.

A number of years ago I designed and developed this simple video poker game. Of all the Flash games I’ve made over the years, this one ranks up there as one of my favorites. If you click around a little you can figure out how the game works. Bet up to 8 credits and when you win a hand hit the double up button for a chance to double your win!

Winning today’s coveted ‘how fun is that’ award is Jennifer Fisher and Christian Cerrito with their Red Arrow Project. Giant red arrow flags were attached to weather balloons and floated off to wander the winds, drawing attention to whatever they happened to point at and encouraging people to reexamine their surroundings. This is a blast from the past and one of my favorite inventions on the MoHDI site. I like inventing stuff you know. Read the original post HERE if you must… or just read about it below.
A long time ago I had a wonderful idea for a piece of playground equipment, an Endless Slide! Despite not being able to find the original pages of notes and drawings on the idea I drew a rough spec so you can visualize such a fun piece of equipment. Obviously this drawing is not to scale but you can get the idea. By having a longer rotating slide unit more kids could enjoy this slide at the same time.

I know I promised myself I wouldn’t post anything this week, not even one thing, but Drew (the new me) is hard at work preparing stuff (or asleep if my newly-skinned Twitter is to be believed) and I just couldn’t pass this one up. You type it, some fancy algorithm pulls each word from a different highly recognizable, at one time chart-topping, song and sings it back. How fun is that? Major time suck, but I mean it in the best way possible.

My name is not Jake, it’s Drew. This week I’ll be taking on the roll of Jake, at least online.
Since this is the is my first blog post I thought I would simply introduce myself and give you an idea of what I hope to achieve in this week.

THE INTRODUCTION:
My name is Drew Anderson, I moved to Brooklyn, NY a little over a year ago from Portland Oregon. I have been on and off running MoHDI.com for the past few years. Basically it has been a depository for those ideas that often don’t find a home. I’ll probably be pulling some of my favorite inventions and ideas from MoHDI this week to share with you.

I’m also on a lot of the same social networks that Jake is on.
Facebook, Twitter and I use Flickr a lot too.

While I hope we get to know each other a lot better this week, I would say you could probably learn more about me through my social networks than perhaps you want to know.

TAKE OVER PLANS:
Please keep in mind I’ve had very little time to prepare for this position but, I want to let you in on my initial plans as I take over Jake’s online presence.

I plan to…

- Find and share awesome content including games, applications, sites, images, videos, inventions, ideas and more…
- Produce original content. I hope to produce as much awesomeness as possible for you all.
- Tweet all over the place… I like tweeting and you can follow HERE as I tweet with Jake’s account.
- Improve Communications with readers, followers and friends.
- Make several improvements to the site. (I got all access you know)
- Do some good. I have a project I’ll push forward with as Jake this week.
- Make some awesome new friends. Perhaps even hang out with some of Jake’s friends.

While I have a some more ideas for this week I’d really like to hear what you have to say…

That’s right, shooting anvils is a hobby enjoyed by more than just cayotes. And this guy - Gay Wilkinson - is like, the Michael Jordan of the thing. Don’t try this at home (unless you’ve got an anvil you were done with or something) but do read the article in the St. Louis’ Riverfront Times about the thing. It’s a page-turner.

Seriously, I have a problem:
- I have 642 unopened messages on Facebook and haven’t posted a status update since October 1st.
- I have 3,639 followers on Twitter and, though I tweeted 4 times yesterday, each one was a struggle.
- I try to post 6-8 times per day here on Zoomdoggle, but somehow talking about fun is keeping me from having any.
- My primary email account (gmail) currently has 29,568 unread messages. Admittedly most are newsletters I’ve signed up for, or notes from my mom who’s currently bedridden with little more than a laptop to entertain her, still, it’s hard to keep up.

I need a break. Just for a week. I need someone to take over my Facebook correspondence, picture posting, and commenting. I need someone to blog for me. I need someone to twitter, thumb things up and down on Stumbleupon, and vote things “cute” or “wtf” on Buzzfeed.

Of course we’ll replace my picture with yours in all of these places while you in control. And, because Ford lent me a Fiesta on account of my being active online - but for this week you’ll be active in my place - you can have the car for the week too. Perhaps most importantly IT IS A PAYING JOB; though salary is dependant on experience. Think you’ve got what it takes? Check out the full ad on Craigslist, then drop me a line.

UPDATE: The candidate has been chosen. The “Hi I’m Jake” photo changed out. The passwords transferred (for Facebook and Twitter too). Any second now, my doppelganger will kick off week one. He’s a great guy and I can’t wait for you to meet him, er, me. Anyway, if all goes well, we might be looking for another me next week. Keep the applications coming…
