MORNING CLICHE’S

The day after a sell off is when you start hearing all type of general cliche’s that are suppose to sooth the listener/reader, or the purpose might be to help you put things in perspective. The only one that could put things in perspective is YOU. I don’t know what is going to happen neither do I want to talk about all the warnings signs that have been around for months that miraculously mattered yesterday..whatever..

Let’s go over some of these Cliche’s.

“The SP500 is only down 0.83%”...If you own only the SPY then fine it is only 0.83%, but if your portfolio consists of stocks chances are that you were down 2x that amount, so who cares what the sp500 did. Ever heard the saying–stocks take the stairs up and the elevator down. Or what took you 3 months to make you lose in 3 days in an extended market, etc…
“The SP500 was 1375 6 months and 1575 last month and now we are at 1655 so put things in perspective”.…Perspective really…what about if 6 months you bought $AAPL-(” a good company”), or $GLD because the world is printing like there is no tomorrow….?
“Know your time frame”…does your time frame supersede your stops????? Does your time frame go automatically to long term when you are down?
“This is a healthy pullback“..the way we pull back is what’s important.
On another note have you ever read a trading book that doesn’t start with–the first stock that I bought was tip from a broker and I lost my shirt..

Not Your Typical Set Up

These are not your typical set ups, like the ones that you read about where the stock has to be over $15, and have good sales growth, ROI, decent E.P.S etc…All that is either relevant or irrelevant depending on your time frame. What we have been focusing on recently is what most consider junk stocks, and the reason why is because they are now being chased by the masses which explains the +25% move in some beaten down solar stocks, shippers, and heavily shorted stocks. If your time frame is “NOW” you should consider putting these on your watch-list. The levitation of all these junk stocks will come to an end, but for now this is where the party is at. This is not for everyone, so know thyself.

How To Turn Trash Into Cash

Individual stocks that are considered “Junk Stocks”, “Trash” etc… have been on a tear lately. Buying heavily shorted stocks has become the new thing to do. You talk to seasoned veterans and they will tell you that this is exactly what you see before a correction starts. With QE infinity you just never know how long the insanity of stocks like $EGLE, $CSUN, $RSOL, $JASO, going up over 50% in one day will last. One thing that I do know is that one of Pradeep Bonde’s trusted breadth indicators has reached extreme levels that in the past has led to corrections, and based on that breadth indicator I can confidently say that this market is now over heated. The question becomes what does overheated mean, what should I do, does it mean we are heading into a bear market etc..? What it means to me is this: we are at a point where you can really step on the gas and make huge gains in select stocks (junk) if you are familiar on how to play them and realize that you are playing musical chairs and that music will surely soon stop.

You’ve been warned, for now lets continue to dance, here is my list for today; $ACI, $AKS, $CLNE, $CTCT, $END, $FSYS, $MANT, $MFRM, $MXWL, $RATE, $RES, $SD, $TTWO, $YZC. Honorable mention goes to the Miners.

ETF Model Portfolio Update

We had sell signals that took us out of $KOL, $DGP, $NUGT
We had new buy signals on $EWY, $EGPT and $DZZ which we closed out for a profit of +7.51%.
Currently we have 5 open positions (highlighted in yellow) $RSX, $VNM, $URA, $EGPT, $EWY. $URA did a 1 for 3 reverse split that is not reflected on the spreadsheet.

What are you looking at:

A $100,000 model portfolio that is half mechanical and half discretionary.
In this model portfolio we will allocate up to $10k to each trade and have no more than 10 names in the portfolio.
We might buy the ETF multiple times, the 1st time will be based on the mechanical signal and the second time will be discretionary.
We will try to exit each holding in 4 tranches unless if it is being sold at a loss. On the sell side we will use discretion and perhaps hold a piece until we get a sell signal on the mechanical side.
We will update the portfolio weekly not every time we make a trade since we have paying customers who pay for this service.
We will try to post the confirmations of all our buys and sales along with every update.
At times there will be trades that we cannot take but want to take but happen to be fully invested so we will probably give those trades in real time for you to take advantage of them.
From time to time we might get involve with inverse ETF’S.
Very simply, this program tries to get involved at the early stages of a possible intermediate trend, and stay with the trend until the very end.
