VIPeers reveals its PUMP software and announces partnerships

VIPeers® reveals its software Pump™

2008 - The P2P Research Institute Blog Interviews zSlide CEO on Podmailing

On August 7th, the P2P Research Institute Blog published an article presenting the podcast of Louis Choquel's interview, zSlide CEO, about Podmailing. The following points emerged from Harry Tormey's questions, the blog author:

Around 40,000 people have sent a Podmail, mostly from France and Spain. But at least 400,000 have downloaded a podmail.
Users are mostly families who use Podmails to exchange numerous and heavy photos or videos.
The average file size sent is 200 MB but size remains unlimited.
Contrary to other file-sharing services, Podmailing has a P2P dimension in addition to using servers. It enables this software to "get the best of both worlds" with a C-to-C interaction with a quality service (files always have sources thanks to relay servers).
Podmailing is planning to become profitable by enabling Premium accounts for people wishing to send more files, bigger files and faster and other professional features. However, the initial service will remain free as well as P2P downloads.

The interview is concluded by the mention of future developments of Podmailing in regards to the security issue. Indeed, users will be able to protect their data by passwords thanks to encryption.
