Hi Guys, I've bought an alarm for my bike, Its for my own benefit not an insurance companies. I know i will get the "I wouldn't bother" answers but I will sleep better knowing that the alarm will notify me if it gets moved especially when i can't see the bike unless i stand in the bath and look out the window haha.

Anyway I need to know where what relay is what and what fuse is what if that makes any sense lol so the starter relay and ignition fuse, the rest seems to be easy. If anyone has fitted one of these alarms i'd be very grateful.

The bike is an Early 2003 A1P model with Carb's.

Cheers
John

Is there anyway to clear an FI code (and light) without a diagnostic tool?

I've a 2013 636 and its showing me a 67 code (o2 heater sensor) but i've got an o2 blocker on there.
i've tried the fuses, the voltages etc from the workshop manual but nothing is removing the light, but the bike is working fine.

no issues on startup or when riding it hard, so it's really frustrating and i want to see if i can clear the code, whether it'll then reappear.

thanks

Looking for engine that bolts into the 05 06 636.
It can have issues like transmission or what not but nothing blown up. I'm willing to refresh an engine not rebuild a turd.

Needs to be plug and play. Nothing I need a custom harness or anything like that. I'm only saying that because I'm not sure of the 03 04 compatibility.

Price is directly related to condition. I know it's not a big demand engine.

Hey guys, I live in Australia. I have a 2009 model ZX-6R with around 25,000km (~16,000miles).

The service manual states that if it is a CA,CAL or US model the inspect is required at 24,000km (15,000miles). It also says for ALL OTHER MODELS (mine is AU spec) the inspection is required at 42,000km (26,000miles).

I'm a by the book kind of guy so according to the service manual its not required till 42,000km. Why would US bikes need it so much sooner? Different materials? Emissions requirements? Doesn't make sense.

hey team,

05 zx6r Project bike 36k miles. been making a lot of changes recently. finally got out for a nice long ride the other day... little over an hour in 80+ degree weather and on 2 occasions the bike jumped from 185 to 245 (Flash HI) degrees F and shut the engine off while I was doing about 60-80 MPH. I would pull over, stop the bike, let it sit for a second, restart it just fine and temps would immediately drop from 240+ back to around 189-195. after the second shut off I noticed a slight "whirring" noise with the engine running but that went away almost immediately.
Fan kicks on around 205 and back off under 200 and is working.
got home and my reserve coolant level was at the L line but not empty. so I added more to fill it up but I have not noticed any leakage from the bike either....
I have also noticed that after I changed my levers I have been getting a bit more clutch slippage leading me to believe that I will need a new clutch soon.
I thought I may be putting to much stress on the engine with improper clutch cable set up so I have recently re adjusted it but have not had time to ride since. my manual says that improper clutch setup can increase engine temps.... but I guess I am searching for thoughts on the direct cause....

could an air bubble in the coolant line cause a rapid jump like that?
burping the system is my next step to make sure that's not an issue... I am not sure where to go next.

Thanks and any help is appreciated.

Hi Guys and Girls or lampposts (it’s 2018) 😂
My name is Benji, 27 from South Derbyshire England. (Sounds like a dating show)
Very recently picked up my Zx6r 636, Year...? Well I was hoping you guys could help me. Plated as 05 however looking around they have the flush front indicators mine does not.... so that leads me to believe it’s a late 04 model, but that would be Carbed if I’m correct in saying. I’ve done some stripping and cleaning today... doesn’t look like carbs to me... it has a choke (that’s broken) 😂😂
Any way thank you for welcoming me into your community and I look forward to talking all things bikes with you. 🤙🏻✊🏻

I just gave my leathers a good clean for the first time in ages, using Nixwax leather cleaner and leather restorer. They looked great hanging on the shelf, deep black again and looking almost new.

Get on the bike this morning...what a mistake! I felt like I had been drenched in lube, connecting to the bike was like try to pick up a bar of soap! (skips inappropriate jokes in front of strangers...) I've got stomp grips and my legs glided over them like there was nothing there!

So, lesson learned, don't wash the bits in contact with the bike. I guess I could see the positive side and think of it as an exercise in testing my positioning and stability on the bike in the absence of grip. Now to find a bowl of muddy water to 'unclean' them...

Actually, this makes me think of a question - my Stomp Grips work great while hanging off braking into corners, but my legs don't seem to engage with any part of them if I'm braking hard in a straight line, does anyone else find this?

24k km, not a scratch and has been garaged its whole life.
Well, it's a daily as long as it's not wet out, or to cold, or to windy.

I'm 53 now and have done my time being wet and cold, I'm over dealing with inclement weather now.

Black and red - only worn 3 times (brought them last month for 280) - minimal wear and still look new - still have the original box and tags etc

selling them as I brought half a size too big and then had a heat wave so wore them anyways to ride hence breaking refund policy - have since replaced them for the axial pro in boots and these are just sitting around
I'm open to some reasonable offers

Does anyone have experience with Colorrite kits?

As I have had my bike on the ground on both sides, as parking lot speeds there are some scuffs in the tips of the plastics. Not enough to really concern me; if it were cheap enough to repair I would do so. Knowing touch up paint is much less expensive than replacement parts I looked at the options for my bike .

This is all for the aerosol set up.

The recommended kit contains base color, and clear coat.
The better kit adds primer, latex gloves, oil and grease remover as well.
Platinum kit adds sand paper of various grades, tack cloth and ups the number of ounces of paint(s).

I can't say I am heavily motivated to fix the boo boos I have put on the bike. If I can make it look better for reasonable money, I would do so. (most expensive option is < $100 with shipping) If it looks worse when I am done that before, that would annoy me -- I don't expect perfection, I know paint changes color with time so I have to think the match would not be perfect.

As the base plastic is black, and I have managed to scratch through to that level I know primer is needed, after I feather out the damaged areas and smooth them as much as possible. I may need a tiny amount of bondo to really get it smoothed out, so using primer to get everything to a uniform base color prior to applying the actual color is a much better way to get as close to a match as I can expect.

The Platinum setup seems like the best way to go -- I already have an orbital sander, and can buy as fine paper as I could want; I like the idea of the tack cloth, and the degreaser for the prep work, so I am leaning in that direction. More paint, primer, and clear coat means I can do more work if I like what I accomplish.

I haven't done any rattle can work on a bike in years. I've been holding off on doing this, due to how long it takes for rattle can stuff to cure.

I have an 03 with an ABM handlebar kit. This is an awesome kit and allows me to ride for hours which wasn't previously possible. My only problem is that my hyperpro damper doesn't quite fit and I need it more than ever. Wondering if anyone knows if there are other ways to install this damper? It was installed at the top of the tank. Can't really find anything in the aftermarket and was thinking I may have to engineer something myself.

Hello everyone, I'm not a techy person and this is my first forum so bare with me. Being almost 50 I'm probably one of the older zx6r riders owning an 03.That being said, I have carpal tunnel in both wrists and can't ride more than 10 mins without my hands falling asleep so I installed an ABM handlebar kit and the difference is amazing. My only problem is now my hyperpro steering damper doesn't fit and I need it more than ever. Wondering if anyone knows if there are any different choices for mounting kits available or am I going to have to engineer something to work? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Bought a clutch cable for my 07 ZX6R as my last one was frayed to almost nothing.
Problem is, the new one is so unbelievably tight the clutch is practically engaged non-stop and I can't adjust it any more loose (at lever or at bracket by the motor).
So I'm wondering if there's just something easy I'm unaware of, or the cable they gave me simply isn't long enough (although its the same length as the old one when I compared).
My parked motorcycle syndrome is getting bad, any help is appreciated.

Hi all,

This is my first post and I'm new to riding. I have a 2008 zx6 with 7700 miles on it. The only day after riding for about 15 miles, I was pulling up to a stop light and pulled in the clutch while applying the breaks. I notice that the indicator light was flashing and I realized that the bike had cut off. I pulled over and flip the kill switch on and off and the bike started right back up. This has happened about 3 times now, all the same type of situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
