A New Way to Honor Our Fallen Soldiers - Visit the VetFriends.com Casualty Memorial

Charleston, SC (PRWEB) May 8, 2008 -- This Memorial Day, Americans will come together to honor and give thanks to the many men and women who have sacrificed their lives in service to our country. VetFriends.com -- the largest Web site for reuniting and supporting U.S. veterans -- offers an online Casualty Memorial for all to view in honor and remembrance of our fallen U.S. military heroes. An online Memorial Day forum is available as well, where visitors can post and share their thanks and support.

The Casualty Memorial at www.vetfriends.com/memorial, sourced by the federal National Archives, allows visitors to search by first and last name, state, military branch and war to view memorial pages spanning back to the Korean War. Each listing contains the soldier's date of birth, hometown, military branch of service, along with the date and location of his or her death. Family and friends can submit bio information, personal notes, along with a collection of photos in honor of their fallen soldiers.

Additionally, a Memorial Day forum has been developed on the Web site, reaching out to both veterans and the public. Personal thoughts, comments and insights in regard to our military personnel and Memorial Day can be read and submitted at www.vetfriends.com/memorialdayforum/. VetFriends.com encourages people to share how they will spend this year's Memorial Day as well. Submissions will be posted live online through Memorial Day and the summer.

U.S. veteran T. Eisenhour writes to the forum, "Memorial Day is a day to honor all the men and women of the Armed Forces, that served this great nation to keep this country free. All of the fallen comrades, veterans and those who still serve this nation need to be commended not only on Memorial Day but every day of the year."
