Penny-pinching Seth Green happy with his Prius purchase
Filed under: Hybrid, Green Daily
Don't accuse Seth "Robot Chicken" Green of getting a Prius just because it's the trendy thing to do. At the recent Tribeca Film Festival, Green was talking to Contact Music and said he's most impressed with the way his new Prius saves him money at the pump and that he can drive alone in the carpool lane. Whatever it takes, I guess. Green doesn't even like the way it looks; he said the car was "horribly ugly. It's not an attractive car at all." Still, he ramped it up to 111 mph on the way to San Diego (o rly?) and he's happy enough that he's willing to give the world's most popular hybrid at least a few props. Purely from a tightwad perspective, of course.Photo by RavenU. Licensed under Creative Commons license 2.0.

He bought it to save money and has driven it at 111 mph? Hope Cali's car pool lanes are empty.

You say all that like it's a *bad* thing. What's more important, getting more efficient vehicles on the road, or getting them on the road for the "right" reasons?

I say that becuase driving 111 mph on the freeway is stupid. No matter what you are driving.

I don't often agree with Throwback, but I'd have to back him up on this one.
On the other hand I suspect 111mph was the exception, not the rule. It's not like Green couldn't afford a faster car if he wanted one... he probably just wanted to wring it out a bit "just to see". Haven't we all done that at one point?

If he can drive it in the carpool lane, it isn't new. They stopped giving out those stickers to Priuses about two years ago.

I thought the top speed of a Prius is something like 103. Al Gore's kid was pushing the top speed of his Prius when he was pulled-over.
I think the commenters here are missing the fact that Toyota needs to do something about the styling of the Prius. I mean, I understand the Pontiac Aztek was a good vehicle, but it's one of the ugliest cars in the world.
Why do consumers have to settle for an ugly car if they want a relatively affordable, very fuel-efficient one? Toyota should partner with one of the Italian design firms (Pininferina, Bertone, etc.) on the design of the next-next-gen Prius.

I am not a fan of the Prius. However I don't find the styling ugly. I can appreciate it is styled for function. The interior on the other hand IS ugly.

As throwback mentioned the styling isn't ugly to the point of the aztec and many people actually don't find it ugly at all. Besides the styling is there for a purpose too.

I like Prius for what it does but it indeed is *ugly*.

If you think the current prius is ugly you should see the the next one... it looks like a giant hamster.
Also I think calling it 'ugly' is a bit harsh. To me it's more bland looking, like most Toyotas.
