Former DTP Records recording artist, Bobby Valentino, recently announced that he has signed a deal EMI for his own imprint, Blu Kolla Dreams.
The deal comes just three short months after being dropped from Def Jam and leaving Disturbing Tha Peace Records (DTP). Blu Kolla Dreams is "the start of a new business venture for anyone who has taken the Blu Kolla approach and worked extremely hard over time to make an impact in their communities, achieve greatness and make their dreams come true," as stated by Courtney "Colt Luv" Stewart of RIGHT HAND MANagement (Bobby V's Manager)/Co-CEO of Blu Kolla Dreams.
Via the new deal, Bobby V will release a new album, titled The Rebirth. He's excited to finally venture out on his own.
"I have been blessed to be in the music industry for over 10 years, and my past endeavors have been great learning experiences," he said. "Now I have the opportunity to step out on faith and use the knowledge and experience that I have gained to take my career to the next level."
Over the last few months, the singer had released an iTunes EP titled Come With Me, a collaborative effort with producer Bill Jabar, to keep interest in his music.
According to Bobby, "Come With Me is an exclusive online release with innovative material created specifically for my true fans."
The album was promoted strictly through his MySpace and online retailers.
Bobby V's debut album self-titled album is certified platinum and peaked at no. 3 on Billboard, while his sophomore effort, Special Occasion, is certified gold.
While he has his own label to run now, the singer admits that he still maintains positive relationships with DTP CEOs Chaka Zulu and Ludacris, and the DTP/Def Jam staff.
