
Reading about Firenze 5 x 7 Watercolor on paper

I snapped an interior photo of my friend MK reading in a Florence loft bedroom 10 years ago. The picture is almost a black & white silhouette because she's back-lit by early morning light. I painted this figure from the photo on the plane home, and added details inspired by the quaint Italian interiors I spent time in. Airplane tray tables are a challenge to paint on (see below), but it sure helps the hours pass in a pleasant way.
