Where does Jonathan Goff fit in?

In our ongoing look at where the Giants' draft choices fit in, we have reached fifth-round selection Jonathan Goff.

Let's put it bluntly. The selection of the middle linebacker from Vanderbilt is very bad news for fan favorite Chase Blackburn, a good special teams guy who has never gotten a full chance to play.

Antonio Pierce is entering his eighth NFL season, and is still a rock against the run in the middle of the Giants' defense -- as well as one of the team's emotional leaders.

Pierce will play as long as he is healthy. Down the road, though, Goff could be the guy who replaces him.

SI.com had projected Goff as a mid-second round choice, so he was great value in the fifth round.

Here is some video.

So, again, Goff is a guy who could end up knocking Blackburn off this team. If I was Blackburn, I would try to show the coaching staff I could also play outside.

I loves me some linebackers

This guy looks like he could be a monster. Lets face it, Blackburn is one of those guys whose heart exceeds his talent. I wouldn’t want to meet Chase in a dark alley thats for sure, but I don’t think he was ever going to be much more than a special teamer.

Hopefully, we can look forward to 5 years of NFC East QB’s getting “Goff-ed”

I find the number

of “great value” picks Reese has made this year amazing. It Adds to my serene confidence that the Giants will be fielding outstanding teams for years.

Goff

He’s a really good player who had a really good post season (Shrine game, Senior Bowl and Combine). I was really surprised he fell so far. He may never be great player but you got at the very least a two down thumper who has the ability to shut down the running game.

Like this guys film clip

better than Kehl. He seems to be more of a hitter than a wrap up guy .
I bet Blackburn would do fine on the outside.

We're only gonna score 17 points?
