In her first-ever singing performance in front of an audience, Little D brings the house down! And she discovers, with her grandfather’s encouragement (“If you think it, you can do it!”), that everyone has a special talent and it’s up to each person to find it, embrace it, perfect it, and enjoy it!

The book includes audio CD featuring an exclusive recording of the gospel song “Jesus Loves Me” (the first song young Dionne performed before an audience, as told in the book), as well as a reading of the book by Ms. Warwick.

Review

This is an excellent book that includes an audio CD featuring a gospel recording entitled: "Jesus Loves Me" and it is an inspirational book that not only great for children, but all of those that are in need of a spiritual upliftment. In Engaged Spirituality he shares the lessons from that experience, showing how the radical challenge to "love God and our neighbors as ourselves" can transform, on every level, our understanding and practice of faith. On an obvious level, this involves a recognition of the social dimension of the gospel. But this leads inevitably to a new understanding of scripture, prayer, religious vows, the church, Eucharist, and spirituality.

Joseph Nangle is a Franciscan priest and former co-director of the Franciscan Mission Service in Washington. He lived and worked in Peru and Bolivia for 15 years. He currently is associate pastor at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Arlington.

For more information, call Tim Kumfer at (202) 328-0072 or Tom Taylor at (202) 232-5483

Upcoming Book Festivals

Upcoming Book Festivals

Fall for the Book 2008, September 21 - 26, Fairfax, VA. However, at forty-
five years of age she has been spending growing amounts of time
attending church, really reading the bible and growing under the word
of her minister, Pastor Naomi. What has been born is a burning desire
to change her life, to parent, to mentor to become something other than
what she has been known as, Center City, Florida’s ultimate gold-
digger.

Schae was raised by a family of women who taught her the money was
everything and the surest way to get money is through wealthy men.
From the age of fourteen, Schae used her looks to get men to invest in
her time with them. As a result she lives well but deep inside she is
searching and yearning for something different. What the world does not
see or know is that within her is a smart, savvy businesswoman.
Everyone knows that she has worked as a bank officer for years, not
realizing that most of what she has came through her own hard work and
tenacity. What Schae knows for sure is that the time to show and tell has
arrived.

In Schae’s story readers will see the unveiling of a woman everyone
thought they knew. We will be exposed to how difficult it is for the
people around us to accept our desire to change. Also, that while many
people preach that God will change someone’s life they really do not
believe it to be true. It was the largest, mostly undocumented, migration in U.S. history. Edward and Algie Clover of Dublin, Georgia, along with their three daughters and Algie's mother, were among the millions who made that journey and found their promised land in Dayton, Ohio. Dayton is 650 miles from Dublin, Georgia; about an 11-hour car ride. But, in the 1950s, it was a lifetime away from share-cropping, segregation, and the shadow of slavery. In Dayton, the Clovers would unexpectedly become a family of women, which in most cases, just like this one, is an inherited friendship for better or worse. Tressie the duplicate, Honey the heart, and Viola the contradiction will test their mothers ability to hold together that most sacred form of human identity family. Today, too many sisters, aunts, grandmothers, and wives are multi-tasking themselves into all the wrong decisions. Algie made all the right decisions because her yes meant yes, and her no meant no. She wasnt a martyr, a saint, or a hero, but Algie, and her daughters, like so many others that made that journey North, helped solidify the African American, female genus; a kinship that will nurture the offspring of mammies, maids, and big mommas into the highest echelons of fame, wealth, and recognition. But for now, these African American women are just thankful they were able to leave the plantations behind and find a place that feels something like freedom.

Asante Books Grand Opening

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 15, 2008

Contact: Ms. LaQuita Adams
3289 B Donnell Drive
Forestville, Md 20747

Phone: 202 527-0189
Email: asante_books@hotmail.com or ladams@asantebooks.com
Website: www.asantebooks.com

Asante Books Grand Opening

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_zUKwuYoFiiU/SH0r9A0xmYI/AAAAAAAAAfM/LQsdrdaVuqo/s320/asantebookslogo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5223379470013012354" />

(Forestville, MD) – July 15, 2008 - Asante Books has opened in Forestville Centre Park Mall on Donnell Drive in Forestville, Md.
