I really tried to like these guys, but I they were painful to listen to live.
Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2008 7:23 PM
If by painful you meant awesome then yes.
Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2008 7:40 PM
No more like painful as in had to leave the room.
Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2008 7:48 PM
also, this guys are big 'ol dickheads.
add to that the fact that they suck.
Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2008 7:52 PM
I wish they were playing a new york that was more of the regular variety
Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2008 7:58 PM
I vote for awesome, you just have to power past the distortion.

there seems to be someone out there who is out to slander this band.
I have seen them live and I can't wait to see them again.
Posted by joe | May 8, 2008 8:26 PM
abe vigoda they are not
Posted by hipster poseur | May 8, 2008 8:46 PM
or maybe the band have been pricks to a lot of people a lot of times and it's worth mentioning?
where is it that telling the truth about a pack of cokehead assholes becomes slander?
Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2008 9:23 PM
they're fucking rad kids
Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2008 10:28 PM
Saw them open up for YLT (pic above) and I didn't think they were anything special.
Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2008 10:34 PM
They suck.
Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2008 10:52 PM
>>I wish they were playing a new york that was more of the regular variety
What does that mean?
Posted by mp77 | May 8, 2008 10:56 PM
He looks familiar. Did you ever posted your profile on a celebrity and millionaire dating site called "LovingRich.com".I saw your profile there few weeks ago.

why is there a menorah in the background?
Posted by anon | May 8, 2008 11:33 PM
"why is there a menorah in the background?"
They opened up one of the Yo La Tengo hanukah shows.

FUCK YOU LOVINGRICH.COM GUY YOU NEED TO STOP

saw this band open up for Super Furry Animals. I was excited to see them but they sounded pretty rough and I was disappointed. records aren't terrible. might give them another chance...

"saw this band open up for Super Furry Animals. I was excited to see them but they sounded pretty rough and I was disappointed. records aren't terrible. might give them another chance..."
I also was at said show and I felt the same way. I, however, am not giving them a 2nd chance.
Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2008 12:26 AM
I also was at that show and thought they were very good. I can see why some SFA fans might not have dug them though since it's a very different type of music.
Anon 12:19, we need more people like you. Good that you're giving bands more than one chance unlike the assholes here who listen to a 30 second snippet before starting to trash them.
Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2008 12:46 AM
I saw them at SXSW and they destroyed.
Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2008 12:53 AM
I love that when anybody says they don't like a band, all the sensitive fanboys counter with idiocy such as "don't be an asshole, they rock, and you don't know anything if think that" or "you only listened to 30 second snippets."
Grow up.

How come nobody's said "I'd hit it" yet?
Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2008 9:15 AM
"How come nobody's said "I'd hit it" yet?"
because the picture doesn't give us a solid look.

If you are a no-talent douche who constantly feels the need to write trash about bands you don't get/like (like most posting on BV), you're the one who needs to grow up. I don't like Times New Viking's music btw. That does not mean "they're the worst band," "evil dickheads" etc. etc.

mp77,
>>I wish they were playing a new york that was more of the regular variety
What does that mean?
I just wish they were playing a venue in bk or manhatten that i could buy tickets to.
if possibly id prefer not to go to jersey, the show at the whitney is really cool, but they start on the earlier side and i work late (plus i have to get up there). and i have no desire to see them at siren. no thanks
Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2008 10:02 AM
I'd shit it.

If you are a no-talent douche who feels the need to write trash about no-talent douches who constantly feel the need to write trash bands that they don't get/like (like most posting on BV), you're the one who needs to grow up. I also don't like Times New Viking's music btw. That does not mean "they're the worst band," "evil dickheads," although I respect the opinions and experiences of those who feel that way.
Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2008 11:19 AM
why do you say they're dickheads? i could sort of take or leave their music, but i hung out with them once and found them pretty nice (maybe little coke-y)
Posted by anon | May 9, 2008 11:32 AM
they are rough
Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2008 12:00 PM
they're vapid party monger cokeheads making take it or leave it music.
Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2008 3:16 PM
"they're vapid party monger cokeheads making take it or leave it music."
Shouldn't you be out protesting Union Hall, or is the rain keeping you inside?
Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2008 3:22 PM
party mongers?
Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2008 3:31 PM
they look good in pictures and otherwise aren't especially good in any way.
they are also vapid arrogant cokehead types, soaking up their moment in the limelight in a kind of embarassing way.
flashes in the pan, and barely that
Posted by Anonymous | May 10, 2008 3:16 PM
they've made two really good albums thus far - i don't see how they're a "flash in the pan" at this point.
Posted by Anonymous | May 10, 2008 3:34 PM
maybe not all ears agree with you that their two albums are "really good"?
the arc of Times New Viking's popularity reminds me a lot of Majik Markers - another band with a semi-pretty long haired girl in it and a lot of intriguing attitude in press photos and interviews, plus a reputation for being snobby jerks. Majik Markers' music was never all that awesome either, and by now their following has dwindled to the appropriate trickle.
This will happen to Times New Viking soon too, I give it a year tops. Maybe less.
