Asus Eee PC 9 inches for less than P34,000

It’s supposed to be a cheap laptop/ultra mobile PC right?

Over at PC Corner, the 9 inch UMPC Eee PC is being sold for P33,800.00 (8GB).

Ok, so the 7 inch - 4 GB unit is less than P19,000.00. Now that it added 2 inches + 4 GB more,  it went around P14,000 higher? Isn’t that’s too much?

Anyway, here are the specs:

Galaxy Black: [FREE 4.0Gb Flash Drive]
(8.0Gb SSD)
2.0Gb DDR2 ——–> PhP 33,800
–> only 1.0Gb DDR2 will appear in Linux XANDROS
–> full 2.0Gb DDR2 will appear in MS Windows Mode

Galaxy Black: [FREE 8.0Gb Flash Drive]
(12.0Gb SSD)
2.0Gb DDR2 ——–> PhP 37,800
–> only 1.0Gb DDR2 will appear in Linux XANDROS
–> full 2.0Gb DDR2 will appear in MS Windows

I’ve googled around and found some good laptops which are sold for less than P27,000. Dual Core, complete with a cd drive and all that’s not in the eee pc… i think its wiser and practical to buy those than this 9 inch eee pc.

What do you think?

  1. Php33K for an Asus Eee PC 9 inch laptop?! No way! It’s not practical and besides, you will be getting less for a hefty price tag.

  3. I think the selling point here are its lightning fast I/O response courtesy of the SSD, its ultra portability and the long battery life.

Sure its not for everybody. I there is hardly any market here for that in the Philippines.

  4. [...] Cheaper then the first released Asus Eee PC (which is around 19k). Its also cheaper than the 8Gb and 12 GB Eee PC. Plus you already have an OS installed- Windows [...]

  5. Because someone said “It’s not for everybody” means that the early adopters with money to burn will be out to get it.

Definitely not for cheap ol’ me, though.

  6. I think we should wait if we want one of these. PC Corner is just taking advantage of having it now. The supposed release price of the 12G model in the US is only US$600 = about P25,000 only.
