Google Talk to use SMS lingo
Cn u rid dis msg?
(can you read this message)
Pinoys are very good at text lingo (abbreviating or shortening the words into a combination of letters to be read as a norma; word) .. in fact some professors and lawmakers have urged that texters to use complete words when texting because text lingo makes people, specially kids, forget the proper spelling of words.
But on April 22, when you youse Google Talk (Gtalk) servers will send your conversations using txt lingo instead of normal words.

Thus, when you send “In my humble opinion, i think this is great”… the one you are chatting with will receive this:
IMHO, i tnk dis s gr8
According to the Google Talk blog, it is one the big G’s way of being one with the whole world in the celebration of the Earth Day.
We were surprised to learn the inconvenient truth that every character (byte) we send in a message results in about 0.0000000000000000034 metric tons* of CO2 being released into the atmosphere! So if we can reduce the number of characters we send when we chat with all our friends, we can help the environment at the same time.
We think this is a great idea. If all our millions of users started using IM-speak, we’d save hundreds of millions of wasted (and environmentally damaging!) characters.
So there…
Oh, and for those who are not familiar with shortening words… Google is ready to help you out..
We know you’ll all want to practice your IM-speak, so we’re helping by introducing a new translation bot, en2im@bot.talk.google.com, which will translate your conversations into IM-speak, to help you get used to the new lingo.
ummm…
B4 u beliv evrytn dats writn n dis post, dis s jst a hoax (Google celebrates April fool’s day)
