Google Talk Labs Edition

Google just made available a Google Talk for PC (not the one used inside the browser) called Google Talk Labs Edition.

So what’s the difference…

  • Features of the Google Talk Gadget on your desktop (emoticons, group chat, and more!)
  • New! Desktop notifications from the following services:
    Gmail
Calendar (with a new snooze option!)
    Orkut

Its the Group chat feature that gave me the happy face! Back then, you could only do group chats via the gtalk on the web browser.

Try it out here.

UPDATE:

I can run two instances of Google talk on my PC.

Now i’m running 3 google talks!

  • In my browser window
  • Gtalk old version
  • Gtalk labs edition

Now Gtalk is confused which window it would show the messages or i think its shows the message in all the windows). Now i’m the one who’s confused!

Here’s a sample of the group chat

The group chat tab only shows up to two names but the window below shows the persons who joined the chat.

Stuff you can’t do using Google talk Labs edition:

  • Send a file
  • Call
  • Send voicemail
  • send an email
