Flakey

It is snowing. Outside. In Pittsburgh. Before Halloween.

I am not amused.

At all.

Yes, I am not amused. She who is totally -whatever- when it comes to snow. It does not bother me one iota. I might even like it. A lot. In November, December, and January, that is. However, this whole melding of seasons with the leaves falling side-by-side with snowflakes? NOT COOL.

Unless you ask the Toddler. Yes, THE TODDLER. She who is totally -AAAAAARGH HELP ME- when it comes to snow. The same child who last year would not allow her cute little snow boots to come in contact with even a single flake is all, "Ook! Snow!" and "I wanna wear snowpants!" and "Where my boots?" this year.

I'm pretty sure that when the Toddler was off wandering with another little girl at gymnastics tonight, she was asking if the other kid knew the number for Child and Youth Services. I'm positive she's trying to report us for child abuse because we wouldn't let her stand outside and play in the snow. Instead, I had the audacity to make her eat dinner.

I know. I'm evil.

But not as evil as snow in October.

Snow on Halloween is just wrong:(

Am I first...how did that happen?

October 28, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterNap Warden

My girls love the snow I can't wait.Last year Lil C could barely walk in it.It was hilarious.I have several videos where you can hear me laughing at her falling over.

I know I am mean too.LOL

I love SNOW and I love halloween and after six halloweens in Alaska we're okay with snow on halloween. Our first halloween there it was 12 degrees below zero and kids were trick or treating! I was amazed. Then it became normal!

Send me the snow please! Or just start a petition to send my husband home from Iraq and send us back to Alaska, yeah that'll work....a small favor really!

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMy Two Army Brats

on the tenth we were at a funeral for a friend and huge fat flakes of snow began floating from the sky. Before the evenings end we had over 2 inches.
It was like a real life horror flick.
Thankfully, it melted the next day and we saw 85 again... Here's to something similar?

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMisty

I would totally freak the freak out if we had snow before Halloween.

Seeing it is spring here.

And it has never snowed.

Yeah. That would be freaky.

And my kids were the same about puddles.

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKelley

While this might, to some people, sound like a good thing... this next sentence is really NOT a good thing, not for me at any rate.

It was 95 degrees here today.

Ugh. I really wish Arizona had some sort of season that wasn't "Hot" or "Hotter Than The Fires of Hell".

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterThe Sports Mama

Oh... and? I have to tell you this. I've been sitting on this news for over two weeks now, and have been dying to share it with you. Yes, YOU.

I am going to the hockey game this Thursday. The Coyotes hockey game. And, being you, I'm pretty sure you know who our Coyotes are playing on Thursday. Guess where I'll be sitting? Go on... guess.

THREE ROWS BEHIND THE PENALTY BOX, that's where!!

I will take as many pictures as I can possibly figure out how to take while simultaneously watching the game. Just for you. :)

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterThe Sports Mama

Last year, it snowed like twice and never stuck. This year, it's snowing before Halloween.

The world is ending. I believe this.

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAndreAnna

I don't know what is going on--we had frost in Texas last night--frost in October. We are usually swimming outside still. Lucky you have a coat and snow boots. My kids had uniform clothes of short sleeves and shorts--talk about calling CPS ;)

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterLisa@verybusymomwith4

No snow in my neighborhood yet, but it sure is cold. I'm not amused either, because the husband isn't home yet and I'm having to try to deal with the bulldogs out in this incredibly windy weather. Not fun. Eyes watering from the wind, hat blowing off, dogs everywhere...

I hope we get a little fall weather back soon!

Peace - D

It is a bit early for snow, for sure! My daughter has a soccer game on the tip of Cape Cod this afternoon and it is suppose to rain or have snow flurries. Either way, brrrrr, I may have to watch from my car!

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterSue

I'm in Maine and we have NO SNOW!! And it's supposed to be in the 50's for Halloween!!

I can not FRIGGIN BELIEVE IT!!

I hate snow. I live near the Laurel Highlands, they are always calling for snow. Freaking snow and our new ugly Dora snow coat!

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterCorrie

Oh, so do not miss the north east at times like these!

Stay warm.

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered Commentersecret agent mama

We get all excited about the first snow and the first sled ride. After that, forget it. We are from Texas, that kind of stuff isn't suppose to happen.

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterHeidi

Happy Hallowthanksmas to you and yours.

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKaren

at least you aren't further north. My husband told me that Corry is snowed in today - 7-9" of wet, heavy snow. Luckily Erie hasn't gotten any that sticks yet.

Good thing I like the snow, since I'll be moving back in a month and a half!

I also love how my dogs react to it. The one likes to dive headfirst into snow - the other will hide under the camper until I coax him out by saying "Want to go INSIDE??????"

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAmber

Hope the weather clear for your Trick-or-Treating!

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterwright

@Amber--Having grown up in North Dakota, I have MORE than paid my "snow for Halloween" dues. I remember wearing snow pants under a costume and trudging through four-foot snow drifts to get that candy.

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterBurgh Baby

I believe it. It's pretty dang cold already here in Georgia. No snow but if there were I'm pretty sure that would be some sort of sign of the apocalypse. IF we get snow it's not until Feb or March and then just a dusting.

I love snow though, but I'm sure it's because it's a rare treat around these parts.

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterImpostorMom

Sadly, I am dreading the first snow of the year. Normally I love it. But last winter was the longest of my life. And SO MUCH SNOW. I am just not looking forward to it.

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKat

If PA has snow, CT can't be far behind! ARGH!

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJulie

I am not even prepared for this. Not at all. I was not expecting snow and felt like crying at the thought of it. Once upon a time I liked it. That was when I was in school and knew it meant snow days. But today? oh no. Haaate it!

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJonny's Mommy

Yes, we woke up to a LOVELY blanket of snow on the ground in Southwestern Ontario. (no sarcasm there whatsoever)... bloody snowpants. ugh.

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterHolly

We had snow two weeks ago and I was NOT thrilled. Now it looks like we'll have 65 degree weather around here for Halloween. Unless Mother Nature changes her mind AGAIN.

Watch. On Friday it will be beach weather until three and then sleet until midnight.

That pic of Alexis? Holy CRAP she's a beauty!

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterCecily R

Our resident two year old demanded to go sledding this morning.
I told her she'd have to do it on the porch roof, and Mama has a bit of a problem with that.

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterSarah

You may hate it, but I'm sooooooo jealous!!! Winter is the best!

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDanielle

Snow in October sucks. I hate it. I love it when it snows the night before christmas. That means we spend almost all day riding snow mobiles and going sleigh riding! :)

We didn't get much snow. Only a little dusting. It didn't even amount to 1/4 of an inch. It was crazy. But of course when the child seen snow, she wanted to go make snow angels =/

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterRebecka

Snow in October is totally evil.

My children?? Do not know what snowpants are. But they PRAY often for snow... Poor kids.

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterEternal Sunshine

We've had snow here in Milwaukee this week, too. Damn you, Mother Nature - DAMN YOU!!!

I agree. Totally wrong. I are getting lots of snow today. Feet. I am not happy either.

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterEllyn

That is evil. We had frost here this morning. No snow, though.

Damn, I just jinxed us, didn't I?!

We had snow last year on the day before Halloween, but we've been lucky so far and haven't had any. CROSS MY FINGERS!!

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterTammy

My daughter having seen snow once in her 9 years on Earth would love to take the toddler out to play in the snow, who needs dinner?

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterjustmylife

Child and Youth Services in the Army is where you go to sign your kids up for daycare and activities and sports LOL

Snow. Oh how I miss it.

It snowed here for ten minutes Tuesday morning. That's it.

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKidzmama

It's freakin cold down here in Nashville too! Where's global warming when you need it.

That is one very pretty picture.

I'm subscribing. I lived in Pittsburgh for several years when I was young (heh), and while it was a basically shit time of my life I do love the city of Pittsburgh.

Yep, we're getting snow here too. And I would like it in the WINTER months too. But it's FALL, so give me leaves, pumpkins and fall stuff. I'm figuring Mother Nature is menopausal.

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterLeanne

I'm with Leanne on the menopausal Mother Nature. Maybe she'll have a hot flash when you're trick or treating?

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterFlea

My mom always made costumes large enough to fit over snowsuits when I was a kid. And I remember a few times when we were trick-or-treating in snow.

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterrebelliousflaw

I just wrote about the snow, too! The girl I watch saw the snow, and said, "SNOW! We need to go outside and build a snowman!"

P.S. We have a park near us with a huge, awesome sled riding hill. Just sayin'

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJen

I miss the snow. *sniff* There will be none fo that snow action Down South. No skiing. no snow.

but at least it's supposed to be 70 degrees on halloween which will enable Sumo to trick-or-treat without a coat on!

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterTrannyhead

if it's gonna be cold, it might as well SNOW *ducking*

October 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterBirdie
