Electrosteel Castings profit dips 2%
Electrosteel Castings, a ductile iron pipe and fittings manufacturer, has recorded a net profit of Rs 28.8 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 2007, a dip of 2.3 per cent over the same period last year, on the back of higher raw material prices. Net sales stood at Rs 296 crore, an increase of 13.88 per cent. Total income was up 14.95 per cent at Rs 317.4 crore.
ICI net up marginally
ICI India has recorded a net profit of Rs 21.3 crore for the quarter ended September 30, up three per cent, as compared with the corresponding quarter last year. Net sales stood at Rs 239 crore.
The company said the figures were not comparable on account of divestments and exceptional income. Its paints sales for the quarter were up 14 per cent at Rs 202 crore, while sales from chemicals were up 22 per cent.
Jagran Prakashan profit jumps 25%
Jagran Prakashan, publisher of Dainik Jagran, has posted a net profit of Rs 22 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, up 25.47 per cent, as compared with Rs 17.54 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Total income increased 23.1 per cent to Rs 180.88 crore (Rs 146.87 crore).
During the quarter, the company launched newspaper brand I-Next in Meerut, it already has a presence in Kanpur and Lucknow.
