The contest “Future Shop” is finished!

The contest for young designers “Future Shop” which was held in Kharkov (Ukraine) is finished. Organizers of contest have chosen two really interesting works.
FUTURE shop

Cosy and clear
Vladimir Konovalov took the first place. Here is how he describes his vision of the future shop:
Typical problems which don’t allow us to enjoy the shopping process:
- Usually all clothes just lay on the shelves and only a small part of it is presented on the shop windows. Because of that, the main part of assortment isn’t visible and we need to search for it;
- there’s an orientation and zoning problem in stores. It’s often not clear where the women and men clothes located;
- you need to wait until shop assistant find out if they got your size or not;
- and a lot of others unpleasant things.
Solution
- Use holograms instead of shelves and shop windows. It will give some room for the clothes presentation and also make the interior more spacious. There will be LCD displays placed along the line and niches with holograms - in front of the displays. The customer will be able to know the assortment and find out if his/her size/style/model is available;
- After customer has made the choice, he goes to the fitting room. And the chosen clothes are delivered there automatically;
- The orientation and zoning problem is solved for ever. You will never be mistaken and displays with intuitive interface will suggest you a solution if needed.
Alexander Babich took the 4th place. You have already seen his works in our blog.

And here is what he thinks about our future shopping:
I didn’t aimed at the most comfortable shop creation while doing this project. I believe that it won’t be so necessary for the shop of the future. Huge supermarkets with enormous range of goods will be outdated. They will be replaced by internet shops. But shops where people can buy some interesting brand clothes and accessorizes will be still actual though. And they will look like galleries or exhibitions where instead of artists’ pictures the last couturier collections will be shown. I tried to realize this idea in my project and to make fashion gallery of clothes.
The second and third places weren’t given to anyone.
The reason is that the rest of participants didn’t fulfill the contest requirements completely:
1. They presented projects of separate constructions or fragments of shop equipment, not an entire shop as it was stated in the requirements.
2. Some of the designers created interiors which can be realized in the present. But we were looking for something from the future, which doesn’t look similar to anything from today.
