[Editor's note: Riomccarthy is a very talented artist. She loves to make hats (look at her past C-Blogs, Cosplay, and is a just all around awesome gal. Yesterday, she continued to prove how amazing she is by making all these videogame themed cupcakes including a very delicious looking Mr. Destructoid cupcake. NOM NOM NOM! -- CTZ]

OK, so this was definitely a first for me. Well, not the making cupcakes part, but you know, this is my first time I'd ever decorated them with fondant. I started about 11 a.m. this morning baking them, and a little over 10 hours later I had these!

Now, it's not often that I have quite that much free time to do that brain numbing of decorating, but it was enjoyable. I think they all turned out pretty well, especially given the time and effort it took. I have some fondant left over so I'll probably make more at some point, but not nearly as many in one day next time.

Just for a note: All of the colors were hand dyed, as the fondant starts out as white. So all of these were hand crafted and hand dyed.

No I still haven't beaten it yet. I'm around 50 hours in so I have a ways still, I just haven't had time to play for a few days.

Haha that'd be awesome Colette, and amazingly the cupcakes taste good (Or at least the ones that didn't have fondant on them because I haven't eaten one of those yet). It's been a long time since I made a real cake. Maybe next time I'll try one of those and see how it turns out. ^~

Yknow...they do make colored fondant. Tho it's probably not available in retail sizes, just commercial.

How did you color that fondant then? I'm guessing you worked in dye til it was the right color?

fyi I'm a culinary student, hence why I ask :3.

By far, these are the greatest cupcakes I've ever seen in my entire life. (The Destructoid cupcake is fan-freakin'-tastic.)

@lucashoal: Yes you're right they do sell it colored, but in my town they do not so I just used the white. I used food coloring until it mixed in to the color I wanted. Red was a bitch to make and took somewhere around 15-20 drops of food coloring.

Then it's probably only available commercially Rio, as I suspected. And hey, I guessed right as to how you colored it :D.

@Dexter - Royal Icing? it can be piped into molds to get the clean lines of fondant, but it's made with just sugar and, umm...something else I can't think of at the moment, probably either butter or water though. It can be flavored for awesomeness.
