Alticast's AltiCaptor™ Blu-ray Disc Selected to Power Samsung's BD-UP5000 Duo HD Player
Monday, January 7th, 2008SEOUL, South Korea — Alticast, the worldwide leader in embedded, interactive technologies, today announced its AltiCaptor Blu-ray™ Disc Java (BDJ) solution was selected by Samsung for its BD-UP5000 Duo HD Player. The player will be on display in the Samsung booth at the International CES in Las Vegas, January 7-10, 2008.
AltiCaptor BDJ, based on the same core software that powers over 4 million television receiver boxes around the world, has been developed to run on industry-leading hardware platforms. These powerful hardware and software combinations provide high performance, turnkey solutions for developing Blu-ray Disc devices quickly, assuring a time-to-market advantage.

BD-UP5000 Duo HD Player
Samsung introduces its first dual-format High-Definition (HD) optical disc player, the BD-UP5000 Duo HD Player. This player is positioned as the flagship in the company’s growing line of high definition players. The BD-UP5000 supports both Blu-ray and HD-DVD formats as well as their interactive technologies, BD Java and HDi. Consumers can now enjoy additional studio content such as trailers, director’s comments, more elaborate interactive menus and behind the scene footage.
