ADB to supply Telekom Austria with advanced, high definition set-top boxes based on advanced video coding (AVC) for roll-out of IPTV services

GENEVA, Switzerland — Advanced Digital Broadcast, a leading supplier of digital TV systems and software solutions for interactive television, announced today that it has been selected to supply high definition, Advanced Video Coding (AVC) ADB-3800W IPTV set-top boxes (STB) to Telekom Austria, the fixed network segment of Telekom Austria Group, for their IPTV television services. In addition to 82 TV programmes the IPTV television service includes Video-on-Demand comprising movies, series and documentaries, an electronic programme guide and information services, incorporating news, traffic information, and radio channels.

ADB’s ability to develop and integrate key software components ahead of the competition has rapidly established the company as one of the leaders in the supply of IPTV technology. The ADB-3800 platform has already been successfully launched in volume on a number of commercial IPTV networks and has gained two prestigious industry awards – Cable and Satellite International’s ‘Product of the Year Award 2006′ and IPTV World Series’ ‘Best IPTV Customer Premise Equipment Technology Award 2007’.

The ADB-3800W is an advanced IPTV set-top box incorporating standard definition (SD) and HDTV reception and H.264/MPEG-4 AVC. The unit therefore enables operators to optimise their broadcast bandwidth, while presenting consumers with the highest quality in sound and vision. The product includes state-of-the-art hardware features such as a single-chip microprocessor and HDMITM interface and ADB’s unique operating software ensures enhanced system and product performance including fast channel decoding and swift rendering of on-screen graphics and applications. The unit is fully compatible with TV centric, interactive applications such as web browsing.
