If you do not cancel right away, you get stuck subscribing. Publishers count on people forgetting to cancel after the free issue.

Thank you! This is a great deal, and I'm always on the lookout for free and low cost magazine subscriptions. This is actually just a subscription for $8, not a freebie, so the post should probably be in the "Hot Deals" forum. But thanks again!
For those of you who are a member of start sampling, they were offering a single issue of Marie Claire and with them, you do not have to cancel and are not under any obligation.
