any idea of what benefit this would be vs a linksys with power boost, as an example? can it upload and download faster?

I think it just gives you better coverage.. however i don't think it will affect the trasmission speed. but to be honest i don't have much experince with the linksys Powerboost.

My 802.11g Zyxel router and PCMCIA card (not these items) have performed flawlessly. Very easy set-up too.

Xytel has better linux support than linksys for the usb unit. Price is outstanding for this combo.
