Canberra W-League; Player news.

Good to see Merryn Sherwood and the Canberra Times giving increased and excellent coverage to Canberra United.

News this week:
Former Canberra based Matilda Sally Shipard will not return to football and play in the W-League this year. She doesn't rule it out in the future.

And Robbie Hooker is chasing two USA Olympic Gold Medalists to come and play for Canberra United. Level of probability, I reckon, 2/10!

A pity Sally is not around. Pretty negatve reporting i think. I really hope Robbie manages to do it,just to put it up the knockers. I think he needs about 10 more good players but just can't see where he is going to get them from. I hope something comes off.

It is so quiet. Is there any news on who might be playing?

News is scarce and will be for me from now on in.

Where once I could ring Caitlin or Amy when they were Matildas and ask them to come to the Radio I'm now not allowed.

Due to the protocols in place around speaking to the Coaches, ie Robbie Hooker, the Canberra Times will be your only source of news for Canberra United from here on in....and of course the official press releases of the club.

Suspect I'm about to be cut out of the loop if I haven't been already. I interviewed Robbie the day before he was officially appointed, so that as they say is the end of that...for me.

Still have access to the Matildas etc but now will have no access to local players/coaches unless I ring and beg the FFA or Cap Football first....for each and every interview. And I ain't going to do that.

Amusing sort of but local football's loss.

Personally I think the blog gets more info out in a different way than the more formal traditional slower structures.

Frustrating but that is the professional game. And now Canberra United is seen as such an outfit even though the players aren't paid.

Merryn Sherwood at the Canberra Times will cover it as best she can given her other constraints and she'll do a great job.

I think Canberra United need to be a tad more creative in their source of information..but then I would think that wouldn't I:)

Is Sally Shipard still injured?

Nope, hasn't been for a long time. Sal took a break from the game and is taking time off to travel. She may or may not return to play next season.

Guess she's just exploring life and the World. And good for her, though would have been good to see her on the field in the W-League.

omg i'm really gonna miss u sally.. i love watching you and Amy Chapman play because your both from the Riverina, both a great example and idols to people who live in the country side. You show that people that don't live in big city's can still make it, they do have skill and speed just like everybody else. Plus we all love you in Wagga.. Hope you have a great time travelling
