This is so odd and it is true!
A Springfield, Mass., woman is suing her local health department, Wal-Mart and a medical-training firm over a refusal to classify her monkey as a “service animal” who helps her cope with an anxiety disorder.
Debby Rose said Wal-Mart has discriminated against her by not letting her in the store with a bonnet macaque named Richard, who likewise is barred from being with her during nursing classes.

this isn’t odd to me..people with anxiety orders do what they need to do to cope each day .. everyone handles it differently..if that helps her without her having to take meds than good for her!..Unless you know or live with someone who has anxiety/panic attacks it can be very debilitating..this issue hits close to home for alot of people and it’s not something to be made fun of…hopefully you can look at this in a diff way now.

Well, I certainly HOPE you are NOT directing this at me. I DO have anxiety attacks and AM on meds. However, I do not carry a monkey around and unless her Dr. actually prescribed this form of therapy, the stores have every right to not allow it, it is against store policy.

no we must have responded at the same time..my opinion is it’s not a laughing matter .. this is why alot of people/companies etc don’t take this condition seriously….alot of people think it’s one big joke or a “made up” ailment.

Sorry-I shouldn’t have gotten so defensive!

I might have come off like i was on my high horse or something but it wasn’t intended!…this is a very personal issue for me and i become very defensive when it comes to this because of the way a family member has been treated..unfortunately it’s not something that can just go away..no offense taken

Actually your wrong. It is the law in my state, Im assuming in Miss too otherwise she would not be sueing. If the animal helps you “cope” then yes its allowed. And no, they cant verify whether the doctor” prescribed this treatment” Service dogs do not even have to wear special things either anymore. Its all part of the Americans with disabilities act. Ive never heard of a monkey before, I guess she would have to have an exotic animal permit, then maybe.

I used to work in fast food and ppl who have a service animal should have a card stating so. Otherwise, Paris Hilton would be bringing her chiuhahua in for the same reasons. If she didn’t have a card then the animal probably wasn’t recognized. Like a drivers license….
I’m cleaning out and have a few coupons I don’t need. If anyone wants to e-mail me about what I have I would be happy to send them out in today’s mail. Some pet food, lotions/beauty, advil, underjams, orange juice ect. I’m not looking for anything in return but if anyone has any to trade I wouldn’t turn the idea down
