Ultima, Deus Ex Vets Form Pixel Mine

Ultima, Deus Ex Vets Form Pixel Mine Former veterans of Ultima, Wing Commander, Deus Ex, Stubbs the Zombie, and Medal of Honor games have announced the formation of a new Austin development house called Pixel Mine, with a mission statement to "reinvent the game development and publishing business model."

The company says it will bring a "new approach to game development with innovative short play titles that focus on community and maintaining high production values."

The company is due to debut a new community based portal through its website, with an account management and micro-payment system, as well as its first yet-unannounced game during the forthcoming Austin GDC.

Said company president David Reese, “Publishers and developers today have to satisfy stockholders, retailers and even their accounting departments before they even think about the games. At Pixel Mine, we're committed to keeping our games fun while keeping our community involved in the process."
