Yes, Konami is really bringing Castlevania to the Wii: as a 3-D fighting game.

The company isn't releasing any screenshots (outside of Nintendo Power magazine) until E3, but today they let us know some details of how the game will play. The Wiimote will be used to slash, stab, and whip opponents into submission, all done inside 3-D environments based on the franchise's long history. You'll be able to grab on to objects found in the levels and use them as weapons as well.

Character designs are courtesy of manga artist Takeshi Obata (Hikaru no Go, Death Note).

The game will also include online battles. And if you have a copy of the upcoming Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia for the Nintendo DS, you'll be able to sync it up to the Wii version to unlock bonus portable content.
