That song echos in my mind every time I see one of these stories in the news. This story at
http://www.foxnews.com/us/index.html# details an incident that happened recently. In it women urge their teens to fight. The problem for the condition of our society has to be laid squarely at our (parents) feet. If we don't encourage our children to do better, they never will. Of course, the problem is that many parents see no problem with they way they and their children are acting. Some even laugh when their children disrespect adults and use bad language. Teachers can't control their classrooms and our courts fill with those who break the law. Unfortunately, there are no PSA's calling attention of this crisis that is growing each day, but I have heard a few songs about it.

Deconstructing Jesus

Many over the years have tried to diminish Jesus' divinity, miracles and claims. The latest to try this is Basic Instinct Director, Paul Verhoeven. He spent 20 years researching Jesus and all he can come up with is theory and conjecture about Jesus. Yet, I'm sure his claims will be met with much fanfare by the secular world that seeks to remove God from their lives. However, no serious scholar will even consider the validity of his claims because they are just speculation. No credible evidence has ever been produced to show that Jesus did not resurrect, or that He did not perform the miracles the Gospels document. Even secular accounts show that Jesus lived and his followers were being persecuted by the Romans. Josephus and others wrote concerning Jesus and His followers. This is covered in the last chapter of the book. Not to mention the fact that Christianity took off after the crucifixion of its leader and extreme persecution of its followers. Peter withdrew in fear when Jesus was arrested and spoke the first sermon after the resurrection. The latest trend in teen dating is to send naked pictures taken on their cell phones and sending it to someone they are interested in dating. Our children are progressing toward animal-like mating behavior and this is the latest evidence of it. Studies show that teens are more interested in image and fame rather than the more important aspects of dating such as character. It may make the news, but what do the parents of these teens think about it. Some will be appalled, but there will be some that will say that they are just being teens and no different from their peers. When these teens grow up, what will they be doing?

One of the signs of the breakdown of society is how it treats its vulnerable citizens. Presidential candidate, Barak Obama recently stated ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNzmly28Bmg ) that if his daughters made a mistake, he would not punish them with a baby. In other words, they could have an abortion. I guess he would punish the innocent baby rather than the guilty parties. Our constitution states that we have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, but they find a way to distort the laws to fit their selfish lifestyles. This is part of the death culture that has become a part of who we are today. The real news is that it did not hurt him in the polls. It would seem that most of American society feels the same way. How long before other inconvenient persons are eliminated because they can't defend themselves. Those with power over them will decide that they would not want to live that way if they could speak and euthanize them. Are they helping the person, or getting rid of a problem for themselves?

The mother of the prostitute caught up in the NY Governor's scandle stated that her daughter was a bright girl who could handle the governor. Were they having a debate? The nonchallant attitude of her mother gives us an indication of why she sought to earn a living this way. Her neighbors also felt that her occupation was not unusual or scandalious. This is exactly what I describe in my book about the condition of society today. Pornography is mainstreamed and considered as any other business endeavor. Will we be shocked when our children grow up and want to be hookers and porn stars instead of doctors and lawyers? New Orleans Mayor, Ray Nagin states that he is a "vagina-friendly" mayor as he welcomed the "Vagina Monologues" to the city. This is the kind of behavior we see from those in government and it is no wonder our children are turning out the way they do today. The recent news about the Governor of New York and his sex scandal shows how our society is declining further into the abyss of degradation. The root causes of our moral slide are popular psychology, evolution, science, atheism and even self-indulgent religion. They diminish the faith of many and they don't feel a need to have a strong faith. Faith is our victory that overcomes the world (1 John 5:4). Without it we do not overcome and our condition reflects that fact.

Just The facts Ma'am

Many are familiar with this line from the TV show Dragnet. "Just the facts ma'am." Well this could apply to just the headlines on Fox News today. "Mom arrested with pot in baby's system." "Teacher Allegedly Sends Boy Topless Pictures." "Deputy, Daughters Killed; 17-Year-Old Son Arrested." "Disciplinary charges filed against unspecified number of New Jersey SWAT team members who cavorted and posed for pictures with Hooters girls."

As Sonny and Cher once said, "The beat goes on." However, there is an answer to what we see every day. God offers us a refuse in Him that shelters and comforts us in the midst of what we see each and every day in this world. Dispite the terrible things we see and hear there is a refuse. I remember a painting named "Sanctuary" that depicted a small bird that was in her nest that was made in the sheltering cove of a rock jutting out of a raging sea. Dispite the stormy seas, the bird could find peace to nuture its young amidst the violence around her. That is what God offers us if we will accept His promise. The world may rage, but we have peace in our little world.

Just about every school bus out there has a bumper sticker advertising for bus drivers. Many people don't want to subject themselves to the unruly behavior of some of our kids and some who do find out the hard way that it is very frustrating.

We have always had those "bad eggs" that caused trouble in their youth. There was always a few youths who talked back to teachers, parents and other authority figures. However, it seems that we are raising a whole society of young people who can't deal with their anger in constructive ways. In the past it was rare when a young person talked back and/or hit an adult. Now we see video after video of fights on school buses between the students and the driver. We read of students attacking teachers and other adults. After all the wisdom dispensed in the how-to books on how to raise our children they are worse off than they were in the past. Discipline is no longer used to deal with unacceptable behavior as parents reason and negotiate with their children in an attempt to correct their behavior. What our children learn is that their are no consequences for their actions and they can get out of just about anything by negotiating. Then they face the world only to find out that when it comes to our laws, negotiation does not buy them completely out of the trouble they have made for themselves.

They learn this from their parents who will defend their behavior and fight to keep the authorities from disciplining their children. The school system can't win. The children act up and there is little they can do to stop it and then they face unruly parents who try to justify their children's behavior. One story on Fox News at http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,331690,00.html covers the story of the mother that went on strike because of her children's behavior. When a news crew went to cover the story they were attacked by her children. I know that many of you may be saying that your children are not like that and I know that there are a lot of good kids out there, but these attacks and disrespectful behavior are growing in number over time. Without much of a conscience to control their behavior and anger in their lives they lash out from a lack of hope. A lack of hope creates despair that causes some to react violently to their situations because they feel that is all they can do and there are little consequences to their actions. Discipline, while not a task we like is necessary to raise good citizens that contribute to society and not add to its ills. Permissiveness is not love. When we love we guide our children down the right path and sometimes that includes punishment for violating rules. The new books on raising children are not working. Maybe we need to read the original book on the subject or have you "edited" those passages out of the Bible?

In my book, I mentioned the cross that was removed from the College of William and Mary campus. The campus president deemed that it might be offensive to some studying at the college. However, what the college did not find offensive was the "Sex Workers Art Show." While it is OK to remove a cross that represented the faith of its founders for the sake of other's feelings, they ignored the feelings of others and allowed this show to take place on the campus. While you may say that his resignation shows there is some sanity there, it must be noted that the student body has rallied to his defense (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,330470,00.html). When it comes to sex they say, "Get over it!" However, when it comes to religion they say, "Get it out!" They are offended because religion and its symbols cause a spark of conscience that they may be offending God and they can't have that. The absence of conscience that exists for our young people and their mentors is the most dangerous problem faced by society today. If you don't have a conscience, it can't be "pricked" and affected by a higher power. If you don't have a conscience, how can one be affected by ethics and general morals that even the secularists try to instill in our youngsters. Without God, they reason that there are no constraints or consequences to one's actions unless they are caught or catch something from their behavior.

Free Speech, or Agree Speech?

One of the problems I wrote about in my book deals with the freedom of academics to espouse their belief in creationism. A teacher was denied tenure just because he said that creationism should be explored just like any scientific theory. They not only deny tenure to those who believe in intelligent creation, but now they will deny tenure to someone who believes that creationism should be studied scientifically. Why is science afraid of that? You would think that they would welcome a serious study so that they could use the information to destroy it. Are they afraid that it might be plausible? I think so. The truth about their lies needs to be exposed to the masses so that they can see just what they are staking their eternity on before it's too late!

There is a petition supporting academic freedom at http://www.academicfreedompetition.com/ . Let them know that freedom, like the truth is a knife that cuts both ways.

I'm sitting here writing my next book and what comes across the television screen, yet another shooting at Louisiana Tech in Baton Rouge, LA. This one follows the six killed in Kirkwood, MO by a disgruntled contractor and the botched robbery near Chicago that left five dead. Please pray for the families and friends of these victims. Lives are torn apart by the uncontrollable anger of someone who, in many cases have never been in trouble with the law. When we lose our faith in God it is no wonder that some feel that they have no other recourse than to harm others and themselves. When we feel that we are just another animal on the earth and it all means nothing because we will just cease to exist when we die then some come to the conclusion that in certain circumstances life is not worth living. Their anger is not tempered by forgiveness and it boils over in rage that affects so many lives. Yet, no one will face the fact that until we as a society return to God and embrace His love and follow Him we will never see better days. They may fluctuate, but unless we as Christians are vocal with the message of the gospel like other groups are vocal with their agendas then I don't see when or why the situation would improve. It is up to us.

Defending Their Rights To Pollute

Abercrombie & Fitch continue to stretch the limits of their rights verses the rights of communities to maintain some level of decency for their citizens. The posters show one young man with his pants half way down his buttocks and a woman with most of her breast showing. Abercrombie defends their right to display the posters, but what are really saying? They are saying that they have the right to pollute our society with their filth. Young children see these images and others in the public space and at home and are affected by it. That is why we have children performing sex in elementary schools. The only people who can't smell the sewage treatment plant are the people who live near it. We are numb to the harmful effects of it and like a person slowly freezing to death we don't feel it. We should rally against this like we would rally against some company that wanted the right to pollute our environment.

Combat Shopping

It used to be that the term "combat shopping" meant a bunch of people rushing into a store for the best sale of the season to get the best deals. Six women, just minding their own business in a store near Chicago faced one of our greatest fears. An animal, that is the only way you can describe someone who kills in cold blood, entered the store and killed five of the six people in that store. The frequency of these massacres is growing, yet no one attributes it to our society and its emphasis on greed, selfishness, dehumanizing behavior, and a lack of conscience. This is what social engineering in the Twentieth Century has wrought. I think most know what would turn this around and make us a better society. However, no one wants to return to God and have a real relationship with Him, so regrettably I don't see an improvement in society's behavior. Evolution teaches us that we are just a bunch of animals with more intelligence (that's debatable) than the other creatures roaming the Earth. Even though our constitution states that everyone has the right to life, we still deny that right to millions of children every year.

If we want a better society, if we want individual responsibility and if we want to live in harmony, then there is only one way to achieve that goal. Otherwise, our cemeteries as well as our prisons will fill-up at an increasing rate over time.

Do You Know Jack?

There was a recent Jack In The Box commercial that featured Jack and his wife in a hot tub with another couple. The other guy can only be described as looking like a 70's disco porn star. The women ask Jack if he is into "new things" and he says yes. Then the two women say, "Let's make a Jack sandwich!" Once again we have an example of how pornography is becoming mainstream and not a marginalized culture like in the past. These commercials stream into our living rooms and we are slowly being degraded by these images until our conscience no longer sounds the alarm. Lot could not save anyone but his wife and two daughters. His wife was destroyed because she did not heed God's command to not look back at the wicked cities. How long will it go on before we don't look away anymore?

You may be saying,"Come on now, that's not so bad" and you would be reflecting the condition of society today. With little conscience to speak of and moral relativism as their mantra people do not realize that God and Jesus are displeased with us absorbing this filth on a daily basis and it is certainly affecting our children as this, and other similar commercials are not part of the late night programming. They play during prime time. It is no wonder that our children are engaging in sex at an earlier and earlier age. Would it shock you that children are engaging in sexual acts in elementary school? They are just imitating what they see every day on television and hear on the radio. We all grew up wanting to do what we saw the adults doing. We wanted to smoke and drink so we could be feel like we were adults. Not the best of habits to engage in as we found out later.

We have let God down by letting our children down. We are setting them up for sexual addictions and the endless search for the next sexual high when what they did at nine does not work when they are ten-years-old. We would be appalled if someone was encouraging children to smoke, drink or take drugs, but we don't see the sexual messages they are getting every day from everywhere in society. This is what we have when society decides it does not need to heed God's instructions. What we, His creation need to follow in order to be with Him forever. If this does not bother us, are we already a pillar of salt?

Clear Eyes

An interesting article can be found at http://www.crosswalk.com/news/11564959/ and features a discussion with Ben Stein of "Clear Eyes" commercial fame about the assault by the scientific community on the First Amendment regarding Intelligent Design. He stated that he had always assumed that scientists were free to inquire about the origins of our world and mankind. However, as I have previously stated, there is a lot of evidence to show that any belief in Intelligent Design is met with censure by the scientific community. In the film "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed" due out in February, Stein battles the Darwinians over the question of whether we were created or started out as slime struck by lightning. Additionally, Intelligent Design proponents state that medical research is being stifled by science's refusal to conduct Intelligent Design research which could yield breakthroughs in cancer research. When your eyes are clouded by prejudice, you are not open to the possibilities. Christians are called narrow-minded, intolerant and blind because of their simple faith in God, Christ and the Word. Science exhibits the same tendencies by their intolerance to Intelligent Design proponents. At least we can observe their actions, unlike evolution and other scientific beliefs.

A controversial teen club in Allen, Texas was recently ordered to shutdown by the city. However, it was not for the obvious reasons you may think. Club Toxic catered to the teen crowd with dance floors, but they also had pole and cage dancers and two girls shilouetted against a sheet engaging in provocative dancing. They were not closed because of the provocative practices, but because they violated the zone and licensing laws of Allen. In fact, the city council said they could apply for the proper license and reopen. This is what our children face as they grow up. We may try to shelter them and try to instill Christian values in them, but sadly, these qualities are eroded by the sinful nature of this society. I like to joke with others using a twist on the familiar "Am I right, or am I wrong?" question. Like the title of the post, the scientific community does not like anyone who does not agree with them. It is evident that science is closed-minded to anything that challenges their own beliefs about the unobservable. The public is unaware of the fact that it takes a great amount of faith to believe some of the theories advanced by science to explain why we are here.

From Hula-hoops to Getting Lucky

Many of us have grown up with Alvin and the Chipmunks and enjoyed their antics over the years, but a new movie is coming out this Christmas Season that recasts them as modern sexually aware rodents. They have gone from not wanting to get a hula-hoop for Christmas to wanting to "get lucky." You can see the lyrics of the soundtrack at http://www.stlyrics.com/songs/a/alvinthechipmunks8588.html

While the rating is PG per the website http://www.alvinandthechipmunksmovie.com/, the film features the chipmunks doing the familiar "chica chica wow wow" mimicking pornographic movie soundtracks and Alvin showering in the dishwasher singing "don't you wish your girlfriend was a freak like me."

Despite these "warnings" many parents will take their small children to see this movie and our precious little ones will be imitating and singing what they have seen on the screen. Will the next Alvin movie feature chipmunks lovemaking? We must call attention to what we are doing to our children and return to a relationship with God before it gets worse. Exposing young children to sex will only create a generation of sexually frustrated adults seeking a thrill from more deviate behavior when they tire of more conventional sexual activity. While that is already happening among our young people, it will only get worse as younger kids imitate what they see and hear in the world.

In my book I refer to the line uttered by Charlton Heston in the movie, "Planet of the Apes" when the apes are hosing him down. The plot has apes higher on the evolutionary scale than humans and as an astronaut from our time he struggles with this topsy-turvy situation. Well, it's the Holiday Season again and the attacks on Christmas have begun. One of our high schools has banned the use of the word "Christmas" from a charity drive put on by the students. Degradation of Society

If you are still not convinced that we are, as the title of my book says "Going To Hell In A Handbasket" then you probably have not seen or even heard of the Folsum Street Fair held in San Francisco. Sexual deviates of every stripe publicly display their decadence for all to see. One site with photos displays a warning before you can enter it at http://www.zombietime.com/folsom_sf_2007_part_1/. You can read other stories without having to subject yourself to the images on the site to get an idea of the activities engaged by these God haters. I suggest http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folsom_Street_Fair which has other news references to the event. They even had a poster mimicking the Lord's Supper by Michelangelo with leather clad, semi-nude characters for the Apostles and Jesus with sex toys for the food and cups. Some parents even brought their children to witness this event so that they could see the "diversity." God may give us free will to worship Him or not. The country may grant us the right of free speech. However, God will call on everyone to give an account in the end. If you don't know what He will judge us by (Bible) then how can you have confidence that He is pleased with our behavior.

Christopher Hitchens is the popular atheist who wrote "God Is Not Good". Here is an excerpt from my book where I agree with one of his statements.

" There is one thing that Hitchens states that I agree is true. He challenges the Christian to admit that we have only faith to rely on and not facts.[1] That is true; we have nothing but a faith in God and a bunch of arguments to support that faith. What does the atheist have other than a faith that God does not exist and a bunch of arguments to support their faith. There is nothing more to say about a book that says nothing new.

My book differs from most other apologetic works in that I approach the detractors of Christianity and religion in general by exposing their lies, deceptions, errors, and changing hypotheses and theories. Their evidence is no better than ours, but neither camp has a smoking gun for its viewpoint. To the atheist I say, “Are you trying to kill my belief in God, or are you trying to kill your own doubts deep inside yourself about whether God exists or not?”

Habakkuk 2:4 states that the righteous will live by faith.

When does it stop?

One of the questions that I ask in my book is, "When, or at what point does the increasing depravity of the world stop?" A new example is the new kiddie porn movie shown at the Toronto film festival. While, the actress was 18 at the time of the filming, she depicted a 13 year old that was being abused by her adult neighbor, her father and engaged in sexual relations with her boyfriend all in graphic detail. One of the actors, Aaron Eckhart, rationalized his part in the movie by saying that it brought attention to child abuse. I think that you can make people aware of abuse without acting it out in great detail on the screen. While many who watched it walked out, many stayed and continued watching the film. How much longer will it be before no one walks out on filth like this movie? Our consciences and our sensibilities are being worn down by popular culture.
