Default Crazy weather!

Hi everybody!! I´m writting from Bogota, Colombia to tell you the ultimate climate news. At this exact moment, while i´m posting this, are happening the worst forest fires ever seen in this country... number of fires: MORE THAN 50!!!! acres destroyed: MORE THAN 2500!!!!
Bogota is known to be a cold city, with an average temperature of 19ºC, but the last 3 weeks we suffered temperatures of 25ºC(afternoon) and something never seen before... temperatures of -4ºC at night!!!!!
This is a crisis, Colombia will lose all of the snow and ice of its natural surroundings by 2050, sea level will increase at least 10 cm...and GOVERMENTS STILL BELIEVE GLOBAL WARMING IS NOT A REALITY????!!!!!

Most countrys/governments are aware of global warming and are trying to do something about it, even china is making big steps towards cleaning up their air and reducing corbon emmisions.

Governments like America know its happening, they choose to ignore it or say that its nothing to do with humans.

Most governments realise it's a way of raising more tax. Pollution is another matter though and steps need to be taken to clean up the air we breath.

"Realize" might be giving too much credit to governments, Oak. "Realize" says to me that it includes consciousness, and consciousness is a concept I don’t see the justice in assigning to a system.

Might say that some governments don’t know how to address this (as any ? ) crisis except by throwing money at it.

Default Your crazy local weather

An idea from Zentao:
Quote:
it struck me that maybe a sticky thread where people could post observed odd or extreme weather and atmospheric phenomena in their area would be something useful for us, maybe.

I'm a weather watcher for our locale, and it is interesting when weather watchers start comparing notes.
Here goes.
I won't move the London weather thread in here, but I think it's the general idea, for those who wonder.

Cool. Thanks, Julie. And cool it ain't here. Today, we're going to near 100 degrees again...just like yesterday. Last week when we had clouds, we had normal sunny degree temperatures hovering around eighty degree daytime temperatures, but the minute the sun comes out, the radiant intensity spikes and temperatures zoom. And it's been like that around here except when we get cloud cover. Dog days of August in July. May was likewise in the high extremes. North Idaho is not normally somewhere where Arizona temperatures are the standard.

Avista provides an average monthly temperature comparison between last year and this year. I've been watching these just to compare my own weather watches. And, yep, the average has increased each year for the last five. This year? It's consistently a minimum of five degrees warmer, summer, winter, spring, and autumn.

What's happening in your locale?

Here in Portugal it looks like the beggining of spring and not the middle of summer. The temperatures are lower than the usual and are more rainy days than usual
