A brief, pre-rendered trailer near the end of Sony's news conference at E3 on Tuesday gave a glimpse of God of War III. Gamers everywhere knew to expect a new installment in the landmark series, but now the confirmation has finally come.

The trailer opened on a destroyed temple featuring Kratos, blades drawn, standing atop the ruins. A narrative, presumably from Zeus states that before their rule there was only chaos. The camera zooms to Kratos’s face, and he shouts, "In the end, there will be only chaos!"

No information has been released on a release window, but we’ll make sure to give you all the news as it moves. But to the delight of many fans the world over, God of War III is in the works.
