Top 5 Free Font Websites of 2008
July 19, 2008
I do a lot of work in Gimp that uses fonts so I’m always on the look out for new stylish fonts that fit my work and because I can’t afford fonts that cost loads of money I’m always browsing the web for websites that have loads of free fonts. So here goes with the Top 5 countdown of Free font websites.
-
DaFont | Click here to visit
In fifth place is DaFont. I picked just this page in the site because it has a list of the top 100 fonts all that are very unique and cool. The site as a whole is also a good site but my favorite part is the Top 100 page.

-
Abstract Fonts | Click here to visit
In fourth place is Abstract Fonts. This site is relatively good and I put this in 4th place because it has a good menu system. With this menu you can look through the fonts by new, popular, alphabetically, and by type.

-
Urban Fonts | Click here to visit
Urban Fonts is in third place because it has a big selection of fonts, unfortunately the fonts aren’t all available for Mac and PC and there isn’t anyway to preview with your own custom work but it is still a nice looking site and well recommended.

-
Famous Fonts | Click here to visit
In second place is Famous Fonts. Although the layout of this site disgusts me and the ads make it a real eye sore this has the largest collection of fonts that I’ve seen and new ones are added daily. For example, it has fonts from loads of different brands and titles such as Ford, Coke, Garfield, Harry Potter and much, much more!

-
1001FreeFonts | Click here to visit
In first place, for obvious reasons is 1001 free fonts. 1001 Free Fonts is the first place any designer should look for when looking for fonts. It has a large selection of fonts ranging from 3D-Western to Gothic. Almost all the fonts are available for both Macs and PC making it open to everyone. 1001 Free fonts can also generate a custom preview for each font which is a great feature if you know what your looking for. Finally to top it off, it is completely ad free but has some amazing links to other wonderful sites.

Thanks for reading and I hope you find this post useful.
